Alternate Realities

For ALL the multitude of Inuyasha fics out there, both yaoi and non yaoi I have yet to stumble upon one where INUYASHA is the full demon and SESSHOUMARU is the hanyou. So I decided to write one and see what happens. Also, please do not start ranting at me about Kirara's name. It's KIRARA not KILALA. Japanese can't pronounce R's and L's like we can. R's are pronounced like L's and L's like R's. Don't ask me why, my mother told me when I asked and since she lived in Japan as a kid, she told me the above. Now, onto the fic!

Note: In my watching of ALL three movies and the show so far, it seems to me that Inuyasha keeps wanting to fight Sesshoumaru when Sesshoumaru seems not to care either way...despite the episode when Sesshoumaru wanted Tetsusaiga and took the pearl out of Inuyasha's eye. Basically, i'm saying there will be ALOT of OOCness.
Second (and last) note: This is AU, please remember that. I will be changing around the history of our two favorite dog demons.

Prologue: Mates

"It's been over 200 years," sighs Inuyasha as he looks up at the crescent moon. Tomorrow will be a new moon and mark the two hundredth birthday of Sesshoumaru, his hanyou brother. It'll also mark the day that Inuyasha claims Sesshoumaru infront of the demon slayer Sango, the miko Kagome, and the lecherous monk, Miroku. He's not worried about the monk or the demon slayer protesting his claim but the miko could cause trouble. He knows she considers Sesshoumaru as family but not lovers, thankfully.

"Two hundred years, Inuyasha-sama?" asks his vassal and majordomo, Jaken. Behind Jaken, Rin waits with Ah-Un to continue on.

"Since my father's death," says Inuyasha shortly, hand on Tokijin's hilt, a cold warning to Jaken.

"Be nice Jaken-sama," scolds Rin. "Inuyasha-sama doesn't need our input."

"It's alright Rin," says Inuyasha bemused. She's constantly protecting him from Jaken, as if Jaken could do harm. "Well, what do you say to Sesshoumaru staying with us?"

"Sesshoumaru-sama?" asks Rin gleefully. "Forever?"

"Yes, forever," says Inuyasha, daring Jaken to contridict him. Wisely, Jaken doesn't.

"When, Inuyasha-sama?" asks Rin. "Tonight?"

"Tomorrow," says Inuyasha before walking forward, his red kimono top blowing in the wind. Rin and Jaken follow quietly, Rin holding Ah-Un's reins.

"What is this?" growls Sesshoumaru at Kagome as he stares at the food cooking in the pot over the fire.

"Stew," says Kagome with a sigh as she leans against Sango. "You know, you eat it?"

"I know that," snarls Sesshoumaru. Chuckling, Miroku leans forward to try and steal a bite and maybe a grab of Sango's butt. However, Kagome smacks his hand with her wooden spoon and Koga grabs him before he can reach Sango.

"Behave," admonises Koga. "No point in making the mutt jealous,"

"What did you say?" snarls Sesshoumaru as he grabs Tetsusaiga's hilt.

"Sesshoumaru, enough!" says Kagome before turning to glare at Koga. "And that goes for you to Koga. I'm sick of this feud. Tomorrow we meet up with Inuyasha, Rin, and Jaken and you know as well as I do Koga that he won't take kindly to any insult towards Sesshoumaru."

"Why that bastard demon wants to protect the mutt, i'll never know," mutters Koga.

"You're not suppose too," replies Sango as Kagome goes to stir the stew. "So where are we heading tomorrow?"

"After we meet up with Inuyasha, Rin, and Jaken, I think we're heading toward Mount Hakurei," says Kagome. "I keep sensing jewel shards in that direction, and the stew's done."

"Finally!" grumbles Sesshoumaru but he holds out his bowl patiently and Shippo snickers to himself as he leans against Kirara. Of course, Kagome feeds Sesshoumaru first, mainly to keep down the fight that'll start if she doesn't. Once everyone has a bowl of stew, Kagome goes back to leaning against Sango as they eat quietly, the silence a calm one.

"So is Naraku hiding there?" wonders Miroku. "In Mount Hakurei I mean,"

"I don't know," says Sango. "I've always heard that demons, half or full, can't pass the barrier without being purified."

"Then it makes no sense for him to be hiding there," says Koga. "Unless he's had help,"

"We'll find out tomorrow," says Kagome simply. Finished, Sesshoumaru drops his bowl near the fire before jumping into the tree above them, Tetsusaiga clutched tightly in his hands as he prepares for night watch. The others smile before helping Kagome to clean up. Once done, they prepare for sleep, Sango and Kagome sharing a sleeping bag and Koga and Miroku sharing a blanket and mat. Shippo is curled up with Kirara, both of them nearer to Sesshoumaru in the tree than the others.

"Be watchful young one," says a female kitsune as she watches over Sesshoumaru through her water bowl. "But don't underestimate. It will do whatever It can to seperate you from Inuyasha-sama unless you believe."

"Die Inuyasha!" snarls Sesshoumaru as he draws the Tokijin, just barely stopping the Tetsusaiga from hitting him, even though they both know the Tenseiga won't allow it. On the sidelines, way out of battle range, Kagome, Shippo, Sango, Miroku, and Kirara watch while Totosai just groans. The two will never figure it out.

"You can do it Inuyasha!" cheers Kagome, but she grabs her bow and arrows anyway, just in case.
