Chapter One

The day was rainy, it was coming down in sheets as Kagome Higurashi opened up the umbrella and stepped outside into the day. She felt the drops begin to soak her jeans as she walked across the large lawn. Thunder rumbled into the distance as she tried to keep her text book from getting soaked. A flash of lightning lit up the sky causing her to jump.

One would think after running around the fuedal era for over a year and almost dying several times something as simple as a bolt of lightning wouldn't frighten her. A group of girls ran past her, trying to get to their vehicles. Lord forbid their hair get messed up. Kagome wanted to laugh at their antics, it really was pointless. If their boyfriends couldn't understand that it was raining, what good were they? Not that she would know, considering she didn't have one. Didn't want one, not after Inuyasha.

Her heart was still tender from him, no need to go stomping on it. Plus, she didn't have time now either. The last two years she spent busting her ass to graduate school and get into college. Being a freshman was already hard on her. Her main goal in life was to have one. It had been hard for her to put everything behind and try to move on. She wasn't going to let her efforts go to waste.

She made it to her car and opened the door, she still needed to hit the library before heading home. The book was placed on the passenger seat. The small car started, the heater kicked in blasting her in the face. "Dammit."

The trip to the library was uneventful, she had to eat the windshield to see the road as she drove. Not wanting to crash into anyone she kept all her attention on the road ahead. Finally, the large building came into view. She parked the car and grabbed her purse. Her hair and clothes were soaked by the time she made it inside.

No one payed her any attention as she crossed the carpet. She noticed a few people from her classes sitting around, no one she wanted to talk to. So, she headed straight for the section she needed. An essay was due next week, it was time to get started. Twenty minutes later she found the book needed and checked it out.

"Kagome?"

She turned to see Eri, "Hey."

"It's good to see you, how you been?"

"Great, you?" Kagome smiled at her old friend. It had been a while since she'd hung out with any of them. She'd just been too busy. Truthfully she didn't want to sit around and hear them gossiping about boys. Nor answer their questions about Inuyasha, even though they tried to avoid the subject of him.

"Good, so what brings you here?"

"Oh, I have an essay due next week. I figured it was time to get started and stop holding it off." She smiled, she was ready to leave. "You?"

"Actually," The girl blushed. "A guy. He comes here every Tuesday and Thursday with his friends. He's not in school but he comes with them. He's such a doll, absolutely hot. Come here and I'll point him out to you." She grabbed Kagome's arm and lead them through the maze of shelves to the back section reserved for studying.

Kagome let herself be dragged away, what choice did she have? Her eyes searched the area, there was a good bit of people in the back.

"There he is, the far left table; he's the guy with the long red hair. Isn't he simply to die for?"

Kagome followed the directions her friend gave. Her eyes landed on the man, her senses picked up. Everything about him screamed youkai, but he looked human. True he was very cute also. "Yeah, he's cute." She looked at the rest of the people at the table, two more guys she didn't recognize. Her eyes landed on the one girl, she knew who that was. It was her lab partner, Keiko.

Keiko looked up and saw Kagome standing looking in the room. "I'll be right back." She left them and walked over.

"Hi." Kagome saw herself being dragged into another conversation and didn't care for it. "Hows it going?"

"It's going. What brings you here?"

"Well, I was actually getting ready to leave but my friend Eri here has the hots for the red head at your table." Kagome heard Eri's gasp and smiled.

Keiko laughed when the other girl looked mortified, "I can introduce you if you want." Just what Kurama needed another girl following him around but it would iritate him. So she was going to do it.

"Would you really?" The girl almost jumped with joy.

Kagome rolled her eyes, really he wasn't all that. Keiko grabbed her hand pulling her over to the table, the other girl happily followed. Why was she getting dragged into this? She had no desire what-so-ever to meet any of them.

"I'd like you two to meet my boyfriend, Yusuke." She pointed to the guy in green. "And that is Kuwabara and the other guy is Shuichi." She made sure to use his old school name incase either girl had went there with him. "Guys, this is Kagome and Eri."

Kagome nodded trying to be polite, Eri was oozing happiness when Keiko asked them to join the study session. The girl planted herself next to the redhead with a big smile. "I'll pass, I have to get going. I'll see you in class tomorrow Keiko."

"Okay."
