Prologue
~~~~~Kagome Higurashi age 12~~~~
It was a beautiful Saturday afternoon. The
home from enjoying a nice picnic. Mrs. Hugurashi was
driving and Grandpa Higurashi was sitting in the
front passenger seat talking about legends. A twelve year old
Kagome was sitting behind her mother while a very young sota
was asleep behind Grandpa Higurashi.
“Now Kagome listen, today I am going to tell you about the
legend of the Great Taiyoukai. He was a Dog Demon
without compare. He……” Grandpa Higurashi
began, while Kagome was doing her best to ignore him.
“Kagome, hello girl, are you even listening?” Grandpa
was ignoring him.
Mrs. Higurashi sighed. She had
come across an intersection. After checking both sides and not seeing any
traffic she slowly made her way across. “Now father,
I’m sure Kagome would be more than happy to listen to your legends after she
has fully rested from our outing today.” As she said this, she did not notice a
car driving fast. The car did not even bother to push the brakes as the family
crossed the intersection. It rammed straight into the Higurashi’s
car right on Kagome’s side. Luckily Kagome was wearing
her seatbelt, for the seatbelt kept her from being tossed around the car as it
swerved around. It is still hazy on what happened between the car accident and
the trip to the hospital, but out of the four that was in the car, the one most
injured was Kagome.
Kagome spent a month in the hospital in a coma. When she
finally woke up it was to the news that because of the car accident she would
have to re-learn how to walk. The doctors said that she may
never be able to walk without the use of walker. What Kagome did not know, what
her mother did not want to tell her mother, was the news that her older
brother, a fourteen year old Yusuke, had died in an attempt to rescue a little
boy from a car. She was not told this till a month
after she had woken up, and it was only because she kept asking as to why her
brother Yusuke had not come to visit her in the hospital. After a minor
breakdown, Kagome’s resolve came back with a determination. She would walk
again. She would be as she once was. It took her a painful and excruciating
three years before she was able to completely walk
without any difficulties. She had surprised all of her doctors who said she
would never be the same. In fact she felt better than
she ever had. Kagome at the age of fourteen, going on fifteen, would now walk
and run, probably better than any kids her age.
Unfortunately, or fortunately, depending on how you see it,
Kagome’s life was going to take a drastic change in only a few short months. At
her fifteenth birthday, Kagome Higurashi
was taken down into the ancient well by Mistress Centipede.
She went down the well and emerged into a different era. She discovered that
not only was she a Miko, she was also the reincarnation of the Priestess
five hundred years into the past. That day was the day she met the
day that forever changed her life, from a normal teenager. When Kagome
was in that time she shattered the Shikon Jewel, and
because of that she felt it was her responsibility to collect the jewels.
Inuyasha at first agreed because he wanted to use the jewel to become a full
demon. Although his reason soon changed as he befriended Kagome. Kagome spent
her time between her time and
the feudal era.
Soon Kagome and Inuyasha befriended a Kitsune Kit, a
along with her fire cat, and a demon Wolf. They all teamed up to find the
shards of the Shikon Jewel as well as to defeat a
great evil. Unknown to the rest of her teammates, Kagome also befriended Lord
Sesshoumaru, a dog demon and Inuyasha’s hated
half-brother, as well as his servant Jaken, Ah-Un,
and the little girl that served as Sesshoumaru’s
companion.
And thus begins Kagome’s new
journey. The young Miko didn’t know it yet, but she
was now starting her path in fulfilling her destiny as the Guardian of the
