~*~Inuyasha Reborn~*~
~*~Chapter One~*~
Wish Upon the Sacred Jewel
“Inuyasha . . . Inuyasha NOOOO!!!!!” Kagome shouted in her sleep. Inuyasha's death has been haunting her in her dreams for the past five months since he died. She had dreams of Naraku killing Inuyasha, Kikyo dragging Inuyasha down to hell with her, and his rosary exploding from around his neck. However none of these are true.
~Five Months Ago~
“I hate you Inuyasha! I wish you would die!” Kagome had shouted that day.
“Good! It's not like I've ever liked you anyways!” Inuyasha had shouted back. “Let me die! I'll just go down to hell with Kikyo afterwards!”
“Fine!”
“Fine!”
Later on that night, Kagome couldn't remember anything at all,but when she woke up, she was standing in front of Inuyasha's dead body, a bow and arrow in her hands, and the arrows in Inuyasha's body, including his heart, were her arrows. To this day, she never meant what she said and she still regrets it deeply. She just hoped that she could turn back time and make up for what she said to him instead of ignoring him like she did. Maybe, she thought, just maybe he'd still be alive if I hadn't said that . . .
~Present Time~
Mrs. Higurashi, followed by Souta and Grandpa, ran into the room. “Kagome!” She was immediately at Kagome's side, and desperately tried to shake her awake. “Kagome, please! Wake up!”
Moments later, Kagome woke up, and found herself shaking violently in her mother's arms, staring up at her mother with her tear stained face.
“It's all my fault!” Kagome cried out clinging to her mother. “If I would've just kept my mouth shut and didn't wish that he would still be here! Inuyasha would still be alive! It's all my fault! I don't deserve to live! I killed him! I'm the murderer! Not Kikyo or Naraku! Me!”
Mrs. Higurashi held her daughter tightly and said, “Sh . . . no, it's not your fault. You wouldn't've done it even if your life counted on it. Like you said, Naraku used on of his fake black jewel shards to possess you, and caused you to kill Inuyasha. That's not your fault Kagome. That is NOT your fault.”
“It is too my fault! I wished for it to happen and it did! Inuyasha died all because I wished it to happen!” Kagome shouted. “I don't deserve to live for taking Inuyasha's life!” Tears poured down her face, and it pained her mother to see her daughter like this.
Mrs. Higurashi held her tightly and Souta asked worriedly, “Is she gonna be okay?”
“I think so,” Mrs. Higurashi replied, a tone of uncertainty in her voice. “We need to get her some counseling. Slowly, all this is killing Kagome. And as much as I hate to say it, we may have to take her to the hospital.”
“No, mom!” Souta exclaimed, tears springing to his eyes. “She can't go! They'll put her out of her misery by giving her something to kill her quietly and painlessly! I don't want my sister to die!”
“Neither do I, that's why I'm not taking her,” Mrs. Higurashi said. “Besides, it would be hard to explain why Kagome's like this. What would we tell them. It's not like we can just walk in and tell them, 'Hey, my daughter killed a guy from the past that she fell madly in love with and she needs help, can you help us?' No. They won't go for that. They'll just think we're trying to get attention.”
“Stop!” Kagome shouted. “I'm not going to the hospital and I'm not going to die! I'm not going anywhere! I'm staying here! I'm not gonna go anywhere again! I'm not even gonna wish anything again! I didn't want Inuyasha dead, and I didn't even mean what I said, but it still happened!” Tears continued pouring down her cheeks, only after each minute, they continued to pour even harder.
Grandpa left the room and came back moments later with a drink for Kagome. “Here, drink this. It should help you sleep and get rid of those nightmares for tonight so we all can sleep.” He handed the drink to Kagome who drank it gratefully and hopefully, hoping to get rid of the nightmares.
She looked at Grandpa. “Are you sure it'll work?” she asked.
Grandpa nodded. “This is a remedy that has been passed down through the family for generations. However, this one was written down, so I think it's right. I made it extra strong to make sure that you sleep though Kagome. We don't need you killing yourself in your sleep, which is what's getting close to happening.” He kissed her on the cheek and said, “Now rest. You need it and so do we.” Turning to the rest of the family he said, “Come now. Let Kagome rest.”
Souta gave his sister a hug and a kiss on the cheek before turning and leaving out the door to go back to bed. However, everyone took a small drink of that so they could all sleep.”
Before Kagome fell asleep, she pulled the Shikon no Tama from around her neck and she dozed off as she though, 'I wish that Inuyasha were alive again.'
The jewel glowed a bright magenta pink, filling the room with the light of it's magical, purified energy. Moments later, the jewel disappeared leaving behind a trace of glittery looking light, that slowly began to disappear moments after the jewel.
There was only one thing Kagome hoped for now. All she wanted was to see Inuyasha. To touch face and to feel his dog ears. She wanted to hear him yell at her and see him run after Shippo and call him a little runt like he always did, or call Miroku a lecherous monk. She didn't care. All she wanted was Inuyasha back. Nothing else. If only he came back, she would be fine. She would be able to live on, knowing that Inuyasha was okay and that he was alive instead of dead because of her own sacred arrows.
From today on, Kagome vowed to never pick up a bow and arrow again in her entire life.
~Two Months Later~
“Kagome! You're back,” her best friend Auri exclaimed. “Are you sure you're okay with this? I mean, we heard about what happened between you and the half demon, and we didn't expect you to come to school for a while yet.”
Kagome smiled. “Nah, I'm fine,” she said cheerfully, even though she wasn't the least bit cheerful.
Yumi looked at her. “Kagome, we know you well enough to know that that's not your real cheerful voice. You're not ready to be at school yet and you know it. You really should be at home.”
Kagome frowned and sighed. “I know, but I can't lock myself up forever away from the world. I can't let that kill me. Although I don't want to live for what I've done, but I have no choice. So I came to school to try to get my mind off it.”
“Are you sure it'll help?” Ayumi asked. “I mean, if school doesn't help, me and the girls will be here to talk to you if you need us.”
Kagome smiled. “Thanks guys.”
“No prob,” Yumi said. “We're your friends and that's what friends are for. To be there for their friends and make them happy when they're sad and beat up people who make them mad. Hey, I just rhymed.”
Kagome laughed a little bit for the first time since Inuyasha's death. “Thanks guys, I really appreciate it.”
“No problem,” Auri said.
The school bell rang.
“Would you like us to at least walk you to class to make sure you're okay?” Yumi offered.
Kagome shrugged. “If you want, but won't you guys be late.”
“Hey, so what? We'll just explain to the teachers that you were walking kinda funny so we helped you to class since we're your best friends,” Yumi said.
Kagome sighed. “You girls are such terrible liars.”
“I know we are, but hey, we'll lie for you,” Auri said.
Kagome smiled. “Alright. Let's be off to class then before we run out of time.”
Once they dropped Kagome off at her classroom the three girls had to hitch it into high-gear to make it to their first hour class without being late. Thankfully and surprisingly, they made it. The girls got their things out, put it on the desk and prepared for the day's lesson.
~After Class~
Kagome sighed as she gathered up her things from her last hour class to get ready to go. After everyone bowed to the teacher, which happened to be a form of respect and to show thanks for teaching them that afternoon and it also happened to be Kagome's least favorite thing to do right now. It killed her back to lean over because she's been laying down for the past seven months
Her three friends met her after class too.
“Kagome! Kagome!! Over here!!” came Ayumi's voice.
Kagome looked over to her right to see her three friends waiting at the exit with Hojo.
“Hojo wants to see you!” Yumi exclaimed.
She sighed and walked over to him. “Hi,” she said in a low voice.
“Hey, I heard about the death of your friend. Sorry about that. Is there anything I can do?” Hojo asked, concern written all over his face. “I-I'll walk you home. Is that okay?”
Kagome was a little surprised. 'Hojo's never been THIS worried about me before,' she thought a bit shocked. She accepted his offer to walk her home and said, “Thanks.”
“It's not a problem,” Hojo said back. “If you need to, I can let you ride on my back. You look exhausted.”
“I do?” Kagome asked.
Hojo nodded. “You've got black circles beneath your eyes.”
Kagome hadn't realized how tired she was. She was too busy thinking about Inuyasha to even worry about school. It almost sent her into tears but she held her tears back and didn't cry. As much as she wanted to, she didn't.
Out of nowhere, Hojo grabbed her bag and shifted her onto his back.
“Huh?”
Hojo smiled his cute little innocent smile. “It's okay Kagome,” he said. “You can fall asleep if you need to. You need rest. Just go to sleep.” He turned to her friends and mouthed, “Damn she's light!”
They giggled a little bit.
“Well, later you guys, I'll stop by Kagome's house tomorrow morning to see if she's coming to school or not. If so, I walk her to school tomorrow if she can handle it. Later girls.”
“Bye Hojo!” the three exclaimed, waving.
“Wow! She's one lucky duck!” Yumi exclaimed, hearts in her eyes.
“Yeah . . .” Auri and Ayumi agreed, hearts in their eyes too.
“Do you think he's kissed her yet?” Ayumi asked.
“I don't know, but hey! He might even kiss her today! Come on! We've gotta find out!” Auri exclaimed. “Oh, our little friend is growing up so fast already!”
The girls laughed as they pretended not to follow Hojo pass Kagome's house since they lived right down the street from her anyways.
When they reached them, Hojo still had Kagome on his back and was walking up the long flight of stairs to the Higurashi Shrine.
“Wow! He's such a good boy friend!” Ayumi exclaimed.
“Yeah . . . I wish I had a boyfriend like that,” Auri said.
“Me too . . .”
“I wish he would've set her down to kiss her while we were here! I wanted to see!” Auri whined.
“Yeah!” Yumi said. “Let's spy like we've never spied before!”
“Right!”
A/N: I know I haven't finished my other story A Ghostly Love yet, but I had another story in mind and was wondering what you guys would think about having an Inuyasha that has to fall in love with Kagome all over again and has absolutely no memory of her. Please R&R!!!! I would really appreciate it!"
