A Goddess from the Past

A/N : I'm just going to apologize in advance for any spelling errors, my fingers don't enjoy pressing the right keys -_-;;; This is my first time writing a fanfic, so please review! ^^

Chapter 1


The black haired demoness silently floated out from the bone-eater's well. 2 years had already past since she defeated Naraku. She silently sat on the edge of the bone-eater's well, as she recalled the haunting memories.

=Flashback=

During the battle, Naraku had promised that by the end of the battle, everyone except himself, would be dead, and the Shikon Jewel would once again be whole.

Naraku had been right about some things. Although Kikyo was there, Naraku had managed to cast a spell on his heart, deceiving him about Kikyo, and easily willing his body to kill her. Just as one of Naraku's tentacles pierced Kikyo, Inuyasha had run in front of her, hoping to shield her, but Naraku's attack had been more than powerful enough to piece the half demon's body and still kill Kikyo in the process.

Kagome had heard Inuyasha's yell, and ran towards him, only to have him die in her arms. The young miko was filled with mixed emotions; sadness, jealousy, and most of all, hatred. Her hate for Naraku grew inside her, and twisted into an immense fury that she could not control.

Something within her begged to be released. It called to her, each time, the urge getting stronger. The next thing she knew, time had stopped, and she was only a witness to what her body was about to do.

Everyone and everything had frozen in place. Her legs walked towards Naraku. As she approached him, she saw that his face held a smile filled with malice and evil. Kagome's arm reached up towards the tainted glow in Naraku's chest. Her mind called out to the jewel and as she did so, the jewel shot out of Naraku's chest, into her hand. Once it reached her hand, it purified and sent out a blinding light. Time unfroze, revealing Naraku, stunned and unable to do anything, as Kagome transformed from a mere human, into a demon goddess.

Kagome could feel herself losing grasp of consciousness. She was surrounded by darkness, as her inner beast took over her body, and killed Naraku without her knowing.

When Kagome awoke, she was in her bed, back in the present time. She sat up, and examined herself, but noticed nothing out of the ordinary, other than her aching body. She didn't remember going through the well, and coming back home.

Had that only have been a dream? Had ALL of it just have been a dream? Were they just random adventures that her imagination had made up?

Slowly, as she pondered about the questions, she began to drift off into a deep sleep.

-In Kagome's Dreams-

'Kagome... Kagome...' A voice called out to her. Kagome looked around her and soon found who the voice belonged to. It was of a stunning and elegant demoness, with wavy black hair that seemed to float around her. She wore a shining purple kimono with silver vines that snaked itself around the fabric. She had two deep blue stripes on her cheeks, one on each side. Her eyes glowed emerald green and stared at Kagome with kindness.

Kagome stared at the demoness and finally realized who it was.

It was her own demon form. '...Are... you me?!?' Kagome stuttered.

The demoness gave a short cheerful laugh 'Well, you're mostly right! I'm the demon form that has been kept inside you for 16 years. When you turn 18, you will transform into... well, me! But until then, you must stay here in the present time, and when it is time for you to return to the Feudal Era, I will come back to tell you.'

'But wait! What kind of demon am I, or rather you? Both my parents are human... Well, I thought they were until you told me about this, so I just sort of assumed that they were human...' Kagome rambled on.

'Shh... hear me out then. You are... well technically I am, but you will be a dog demon. One like Inuyasha, no, to put it like that would be incorrect. You would be like Sesshomaru. Not a half, but full-fledged demon with powers you will know how to use. The parents you know now, are only your adoptive parents. Your true family lies back in the feudal era, sadly though, they had fallen victim to Naraku.'
the demoness replied.

'...So Inuyasha and the others weren't just a dream.' Kagome said silently.

'That's right, you have memories of what happened, but you became unconcious. THAT is where I came in to destroy Naraku. From there, I walked back through the well, and brought you back here, where you have been since then. Those memories are mine, but will belong to you when we merge together. For now, I will leave you, and you must heal yourself, in mind, body and soul, and when the time comes, you will know'. With that said, the demoness disappeared as Kagome woke up from her dream.

=End of flashback=

Kagome looked at her self again, still not believing that what had been hidden inside her for so long, was finally out, and ready to face the world.

From afar, the Lords of the North, South, East and West, watched with curiousity at the new stranger that had appeared in their world, all of which immediately decided that more was to be known about the mysterious beauty.

As the wind blew past her, Kagome picked up the scent of many demons, all of which were headed her way. Others, she sensed, stayed a fair distance away, but seemed to be watching her.

'When you arrive, many demons will come in search of you, some will try to hunt you, but most others will come in search of a mate. Because you will have appeared in the Feudal era so suddenly, the Lords will be watching you. Stay by the well, so that if there is a point in time, where you are unable to defeat the demon, or are injured, you may jump through to safety. The demons will come in groups, each time the enemies will become stronger. Your own powers will be enough to kill all but the last wave of enemies. If you manage to battle until then, I will present you with your weapons. You must fight with skill, elegance, and power, because the Lords will be watching you'.

Kagome remembered what her demon side had told her before it merged with her. Now, it was up to her to live up to the part. The demoness within her had answered all her questions, except one, which still lingered in her mind.

'The Lords... who are these so called Lords?' Kagome pondered. The question quickly left her mind as she sensed the demons approaching. Kagome got in position to fight, but when she finally saw them, she could only sit there and laugh. Her first round of opponents were a group of tiny lizards, frogs, and any other amphibian imaginable.

Kagome couldn't believe it, when the demoness had told her that the groups would be increasing in strength, she thought that the first round would at least be something worthy of fighting.

Kagome suddenly remembered, 'You must fight with skill, ELEGANCE, and power...'. She quickly wiped the tears from her eyes, and stood up. She gave a quick glance at where the demons were situated, and merely waved her arm at them. Flames erupted from under the demons, and within seconds, nothing remained of them.

The demoness stared at her own hand with disbelief. 'When she said that I would know how to use the powers, I thought that I would at LEAST know what my body was doing.' The next few hours passed by quickly, each round revealing more of Kagome's powers. Her body taught her how to create a shield, how to use her claws, and how to purify her enemies. The herds of demons had finally stopped coming, and she stood proudly amongst the corpses of the demons. She had fought demons of all sizes, and even ones that Inuyasha could never have defeated.

Inuyasha...

Images of her battle with Naraku flashed through her head, and the image of Inuyasha lying dead in her arms. Kagome shut her eyes and forced herself to forget the horrible images.

'It's time for me to move on, I can't keep dwelling in the past' Kagome thought to herself. Kagome stood proudly for a few moments until she took a whiff of the air. With her strong sense of smell, Kagome had to resist the strong urge to throw up after smelling all the blood and corpses.

Suddenly, she got an idea. She placed her hands in front of her chest and waited as a familiar pink glow formed between them. She let the orb go, and watched as it cleaned up her surroundings. Kagome sniffed the area again, this time with approval. Finally all the energy she had put in fighting had caught up to her, and she felt tired.
Unaware of the two swords that had tucked themselves in her obi, she layed down in the grass, and closed her eyes.

~In the distance~

The four lords were gathered on the rooftop of the Eastern Lords' palace as they watched her purify her surroundings.

'As you can see, she has already slain countless numbers of demons, and has not even been touched.' Ryo and Akio said simultaneously. The Lords of the Northern and Southern lands were twins and often though the same things. Ryo continued 'Also, judging by her scent, she has not been mated...' 'Leaving her free for anyone of us to take' Akio finished with an evil grin.

The Lord of the Eastern Lands sighed and said 'Sesshomaru and I know that much without either of you having to tell us. But what we still don't know is where she's from, and what she's doing here. It's not everyday that someone this strong appears out of nowhere and isn't claimed'.

Ryo and Akio were both young, and were looking for a mate, so both of them were eager to get over there and see for themselves how strong the demoness really was. Takumi, on the other hand, was more cautious, and tried to stall the demons from going. Ever since the former lord of the Northern and Southern lands passed away, the twins had been placed under his protection. Takumi himself heard his demonic side telling him to claim the stranger, but he knew that he could not give in to lust alone.

Sesshomaru rubbed his temple as he listened to the three lords argue on about the demoness. He closed his eyes and tried to sort through his thoughts. Every other time the twins had called a meeting due to a woman, was because they had found a 'gorgeous' human woman, and needed advice whether or not they should mate her.

After 2 meetings, Sesshomaru had given up on the two, but today was different. He had also sensed the unknown stranger enter the world suddenly, and as he sniffed in her direction, he was greeted with the most delightful smell ever. It was a mix between many different flowers... and something else, something unique, and if only for the briefest moment, Sesshomaru wanted the demoness for himself.
