Pleasure and Pain: Chapter One

Inuyasha and his comrades had been following Naraku’s scent for some time now, but every time they thought they had him, it ended up being another one of Naraku’s puppets. But they had tried again anyway, and now found themselves in a forest that had a canopy that was so dense light couldn’t even penetrate through the leaves. It was dark as night, and the warriors were alert to any movement made in the underbrush. Inuyasha was in the lead, followed closely by Kagome carrying Shippo. Walking abreast behind them was Miroku and Sango, the demon slayer attired in her pink and black hunting uniform. Kilala was treading just slightly behind Sango, in all her demon-cat glory. None of them talked as the strode through the forest, waiting for Naraku or one of his incarnations to attack at any minute.

Sesshomaru was walking tranquilly with Rin and Jaken at his heels when he caught the familiar and putrid scent. The half-demon Naraku was somewhere close by. Now would be his chance to make the hanyou pay for thinking he could manipulate him into doing his will. Pausing abruptly, making Jaken run into his lord’s leg, Sesshoumaru gave the green imp his orders. “Jaken, I have to go take care of some business. Look after Rin while I’m gone.” His vassal was about to ask what kind of business he had to attend to, but saw that his lord was focused, and a angry glint was in his eye. Rin came skipping forward to rejoin her master and Jaken, and found them both to be in a serious looking mood. “My lord Sesshoumaru, what troubles you?” She asked innocently. Sesshoumaru, without looking at Rin said, “I have to go for a while Rin. Stay with Jaken and I’ll be back shortly.” The young girl pouted somewhat at his response, which was followed by a quick reprimand from Jaken. The two began to bicker loudly, and didn’t even notice as Sesshoumaru jumped into the nearby forest to find Naraku.

Inuyasha became more and more nervous the deeper the went into the forest. He had an uneasy feeling about all this, but was loathe to tell the others about it. Especially Kagome. The last thing he needed was to hear her worrying about him.

Inuyasha found that this forest reeked of demons, and Naraku’s scent was beginning to become harder and harder to pick out. If he wasn’t careful he’d lose the scent completely. As he was walking his vision suddenly went blurry, along with his sense of smell. He swayed as he tried to take another step, and fell to the ground with a thump. Kagome rushed to his side, and gently placed his head on her lap. He tried to focus on her face, but his eyes refused to cooperate. Something was severely wrong with him, and he had a feeling it had to do with this damned forest.

Soon after Inuyasha had hit the ground, Kilala and Shippo joined him. Inuyasha heard the human’s worried gasp as they rushed to help the two other fallen demons. The sounds began to fade out thought, and he now couldn’t hear anything at all except his own heartbeat. Great, now his hearing was gone too. This was not going well. He then felt strong arms pick him up, and he could just barely smell Miroku as his body was hoisted up off the ground and his arm was slung over the monk’s shoulders. The hanyou tried to talk, but his tongue felt swollen in his mouth, and he couldn’t even utter a single syllable All his senses save for touch had been taken away, and he was left in a dark world devoid of sound and sight. He began to panic. He wouldn’t be able to protect his friends like this, and wanted desperately to tell them to get out of this forest as soon as possible, but knew it was impossible.

Walking next to Miroku Sango took a look at her incapacitated friends, including the now smaller Kilala in her hands and said in a worried voice, “What’s wrong with them? One minute they’re walking normally, then the next they’re lying on the ground and not responding to anything we say.” Kagome was on the other side of Miroku, and absentmindedly stroked Shippo’s head while she walked with the little fox-demon in her arms. Miroku saw how worried everyone was, and tried to console his comrades. “I’m sure they’ll be alright. They are probably just reacting to a type of poisonous plant. As soon as we leave this forest I’m sure they’ll be back to normal.” His excuse sounded ridiculous even to him, but the girls seemed to somewhat buy it. “I hope you’re right Miroku.” Said Kagome.

They continued to walk until they suddenly saw something laying on the ground some distance in front of them. They quickened their pace until they came across the unconscious body of Sesshoumaru lying placidly on the ground.

“What is he doing here?” Said Sango in disbelief. Kagome took a step back from the dangerous demon and held Shippo closer to herself. Miroku carefully set Inuyasha on the ground so he could inspect Sesshoumaru.

Sesshoumaru seemed to have all the same symptoms of his demon companions, and his amber eyes were blank and didn’t respond to light. Standing and turning to Kagome and Sango the monk said, “He appears to be suffering the same symptoms as Inuyasha, Shippo, and Kilala. Whatever is doing this, it only seems to be effecting demons.” The two girls nodded in agreement, when suddenly the ground began to shake violently, and the three humans fell to the ground. The shaking then stopped as soon as it had started, and out of the dark forest canopy came a baboon-clad Naraku. The humans stared in disbelief, and Miroku moved to unleash his wind-tunnel. But Naraku landed beside the two unconscious brothers, and shook his index finger at the monk in warning. Miroku with a snarl clasped his prayer beads back in place, and Naraku spoke up for the first time. “That’s better monk. Wouldn’t want to accidentally suck up Inuyasha trying to get to me, now would you?” The three humans glared as Naraku with pure hate in their eyes, each of them trying to formulate a plan to get Inuyasha away from Naraku.

Sango moved her hand to rest on the handle to her boomerang, but Naraku saw the quick movement and snatched up Inuyasha’s immobile body to block whatever attack they might throw his way. The demon hunter reluctantly took her hand from her weapon, and Naraku laughed at the helpless humans. “Without the help of demons, you humans are barely worth my time. Oh well, humans and demons weren’t meant to coexist anyway.” He then gave them a malicious smile under the baboon’s muzzle, and picked up Sesshoumaru.

With both the brother’s in his arms, he turned to leave and heard the humans try to stop him. He just smiled again, and a huge wind came through and knocked them all back down onto the ground. Kagura blew in on her giant feather, and had her fan drawn to fight the now almost defenseless humans. “Kagura,” the wind Sorceress turned to her master. “Keep them busy for a while. I don’t care if you kill them or not.” Kagura bowed, and faced her opponents once again. Naraku used the distraction to flee the scene, and one of the human females yelled out Inuyasha’s name as he made his hasty escape from the forest with his two new toys.

A/N: Well, that’s the setup. Next will be Naraku torturing and having his way with the two brothers. If anyone has any particularly nasty ideas on what he could do to them, I’d be grateful for the input. Hope ya read the next chap!!
