"What's that thing?"

"Huh?"

"That. It smells different than your other books."

"It's my yearbook."

"And how's that book so different from all your others?"

Kagome walked over to the book and picked it up. "Well, it's got everyone in the school's picture in it, and at the end of the year, all your friends sign it. Kind of a keepsake of the school year."

"No wonder there's so many scents on it."

"See? There's my three best friends, and here I am."

InuYasha peeked at the picture. "There's no color."

"It would cost the school way too much to print this entire book in color."

"Oh."

"Hey! Why don't I have you and the others in the feudal era sign it too? You've definitely been part of my year!"

"Sign it?"

"Yeah. Put some nice message and sign your name. Here, you can be first."

"Kagome..."

"What's wrong, InuYasha?"

"Nothing. That just sounds stupid."

Kagome, for once, saw right through him. "Do you not know how to write?"

InuYasha remained silent and gruff.

"It'd be ok if you didn't. I could even show you, if you like."

"You would do that?" he asked. "If I didn't?" he added quickly.

"Yeah." Kagome found a scrap piece of paper. "See? This is what your name looks like. Now you try."

Not even thinking about what he was doing, the hanyou took the pen from Kagome and did his best to copy her characters.

"That's really good, InuYasha!" Kagome congratulated him.

"Sure. Whatever," he mumbled, handing the paper and pen back to her.

"Oh, no you don't! Kagome scolded him. "You'll need to practice if you're gonna get any better!"

"I don't have time for this."

Kagome sighed. "Will you at least sign my yearbook before you give up and leave?"

That did it. InuYasha held out his hand for the book. Kagome smiled and handed it to him.

"Where?" he asked grumpily.

"On this page. No one's used it yet."

Still with the scrap paper in hand, he copied the characters of his name down onto the book.

"Thanks, InuYasha!" Kagome said and kissed the hanyou on the cheek. "Let's go now!"

Before leaving, he stuck the paper into his inner kimono, just in case he ever needed to write his name for her again.

InuYasha Muse: It's just in case!
Me: In case of what? An evil demon makes you write your name before he frees Kagome???
InuYasha Muse: You never know...
Miroku Muse: That was sad, even for you.
