“Dialogue”
Author’s Notes: Yet another fic I’m doing. This was a challenge I decided to take up. I felt the idea was a very good one and that I could seriously enjoy playing with this. Yes, I know I said it wouldn’t be for a week or two, but I got bored and had the time to sit and think about it and decided to go ahead and get the first chapter up! kaji11, I hope this meets up to your expectations!
Recommended Listening: “Frozen” by Madonna or “Power of Goodbye” by Madonna, I was listening to both these songs and they just seemed to fit so well. ^.^
Prologue: Feelings of Betrayal
Inuyasha stared down at the stone floor with its lavish rugs; even here no expense had been spared. He felt the eyes of the other lesser lords in his brother’s lands staring at him, even the weight of his brother’s beautiful cold eyes were on him. (I couldn’t just let everyone die. I had to do something. Though I don’t know how long I’ll be alive to help them.)
Lord Sesshoumaru had always despised his worthless little brother. The idiot had caused him so many problems. (And now the little brat does something like this how dare he challenge my authority! He’ll pay! Him and those damnable rebel friends of his!)
Though his cold, perfect mask revealed nothing of the anger that was boiling beneath the surface, Inuyasha was able to tell it was there. Years of watching his brother and avoiding him had taught him that much. His brother opened his mouth and Inuyasha tensed waiting for what sentence was about to be surpassed on him.
-Flashback-
Lord Sesshoumaru was known far and wide for the power he wielded. He was the cold-hearted, arrogant Lord of the Western Lands. His people didn’t despise him, they just despised the cold, uncaring attitude he had for them. No one could pierce the lord’s icy veneer or his cold heart, not even his sweet half-brother Inuyasha. That was how Kaede first remembered meeting the little prince of the Western Lands. Though he was treated more as a slave than anything else.
She had been called to the palace when Inuyasha had suffered a terrible beating at the hands of his brother. Though she at first refused to come, her daughter Kagome had convinced her that the little hanyou was nothing like his brother, that he had a heart of gold. She had finally broken down and after seeing the damage done, had almost found herself ready to vomit and cry for the little one. Three broken ribs, a broken arm and jaw, multiple lacerations and cuts covered his tanned flesh, and damaged the beauty beyond belief. It was amazing the boy was still conscious when she got there.
“Mother, please he’s hurt very bad this time.” Kagome had said, folding her arms across her chest and trying her hardest not to cry for her best friend.
“It will be all right child. Ye will see.” Kaede spoke softly as she drew near to assess the damage.
“Inuyasha, how did ye manage to anger ye brother this time?” Kaede asked as she pushed back his bloody, sweat-soaked locks.
Kagome had told her about the beatings her friend suffered, having worked in the palace along with her friend Sango. They had only learned about the young hanyou by chance and instead of becoming his servants and convincing him to help them fight Sesshoumaru, to correct his injustices against his people, they had become his friend.
“I spoke, Lady Kaede.” He managed to rasp at her.
When he turned his face towards the sound of her voice, she noticed that both his eyes were swollen shut and his lip was badly split and swollen.
“What did ye say to him child?” She asked as she gently began dipping a rag in the bowl of water Kagome had brought to her.
“We just bumped into one another. I try to avoid him as much as possible and he normally ignores me, but he was angry and took his anger out on me.”
Kaede shook her head. How could one brother be so cruel to the other? She wondered, even as she realized that it was Sesshoumaru she was thinking about. The demon lord didn’t have a heart.
“Inuyasha please, help us. We can stop this injustice once and for all.” Kagome spoke as she took his good hand in hers, careful not to jar his battered body.
“Kagome, please. Allow him to rest. Ye just need to relax and recover Inuyasha. Once ye have, then ye can make a decision.”
“I’ll help. I’ll help this time; I want him to understand that he can’t keep treating people like this.”
And so it was that Inuyasha agreed to help the small rebel faction that was slowly gaining success in battle against the Lord’s troops. Thanks to Inuyasha’s help and his ability to gather information, they were able to achieve these victories. Inuyasha hated thinking he was acting against his brother, but in truth he really wasn’t trying to. Kagome, Sango and the others had become family to him. He didn’t want to see them hurt. They were his true family, the only ones that honestly seemed to give a damn about him.
But things took a turn for the worst, when someone had gotten careless with their tongue and had blabbed to the wrong person. This person soon told one of the Lord’s men and he had immediately gone to his superior, from there it was easy to see how the information got back to Lord Sesshoumaru. After discovering the rebels and capturing them, it had only been a matter of torturing a few of them to get the information that someone within the castle was giving them information.
Bringing forth his entire court, servants and even his idiot half-brother. He demanded that the traitor be revealed or all of their comrades would be executed. He had even had the rebels brought forth in irons, planning to keep his word if the identity of the traitor wasn’t revealed. As he lifted Tokijin, his famous sword, to start taking heads and lives. His worthless mutt of a half-brother stepped out of the crowd.
“It was me, Lord Sesshoumaru. I’m the traitor.”
-End Flashback-
“You dare challenge me? You’re nothing but a worthless little mutt that no one wants.” Sesshoumaru spoke, loudly and clearly, his cold voice carrying.
“Take them back to the dungeons.” He commanded as his guards moved forward to take them.
“And you, little brother,” He spat at the cowering hanyou. He lifted Tokijin in threat against him, but instead lowered it, his hard eyes narrowing.
“I think I have something better for you in mind. Take him away.” Sesshoumaru motioned with his other hand.
His poison hissed demanding to know outlet in his brother’s soft flesh. The boy didn’t try to fight even as they drug him away. He never fought back. Even when his older brother beat him, he never fought him. Sesshoumaru knew this and watched closely as he was taken away. He turned his back to the court, who had watched with stunned eyes, and walked out intent on showing his “little brother” what it meant to cross him.
Ending Notes: And here’s the first chapter! I know it doesn’t have the details I normally like, but I promise the next one will. There will also be rape and lots of torture in this fic so for the weak of heart (and stomach) you may want to discontinue reading this. Anyone who is left, drop reviews! I need ‘em to get motivated to write this thing!
