Kagome dodged another flame as the strange demon tried to attack once more. Miroku stood at the side, not able to do anything because of Naraku's poisonus wasps hovering around him, waiting for him to just try and use his wind tunnel. Sango was helping fight the surrounding imp demons and random demons that had arrived with Naraku's newest spawn. Inu-Yasha, unknowingly, was being guided away from Kagome. Kagome saw this but was unable to say anything because she was to busy shooting off her purifying arrows to protect herself and her friends.
"Inu-Yasha look out!" she screamed as Naraku's spawn sent another of his gree flames at Inu-Yasha. Inu-Yasha jumped away and slashed at the spawn with all his might. Kagome watched for a moment then started to locate the jewel shard. After a minute of search she found it lodged in the demons hand, where the fire had originated. Kagome aimed her bow, while she did that, she didn't see the lizard demon sneak up behind her. When she did notice, it was to late.
Kagome screamed and watched in fright as the demon brought it's claws down, ready to slice the human girl to pieces. Inu-Yasha turned and tried to get to Kagome, but more of the lizard demons attacked him, keeping away from Kagome. Sango couldn't get to her, and neither could Miroku. Shippo was on Kirara's back, and Kirara was fighting the poison wasps. No one was there to save Kagome.
Kagome closed her eyes, waiting the impending death she knew would come. But then she heard a horendous shriek and the demon that was about to attack her dropped dead. Kagome looked at the dead lizard demon surprised. "You really shouldn't let this happen" a cold, smooth voice said just in front of her.
Kagome had heard that voice before, many times. She froze, but then pushed away what fear she had and looked up to catch the frozen eyes of Sesshomaru. Time seemed to freeze right there for her and she gulped, but time swiftly went back into motion as Naraku's spawn took the chance and attacked Kagome, who was standing in front of Sesshomaru. Sesshomaru pushed Kagome aside and let his poisonus claws slice the idiot spawn to shreds. The demon hissed and screamed as he melted into a puddle of ooze.
Kagome stood there in shock. Sesshomaru had just saved her, twice! That just didn't seem right to her. "Thank you" she murmured and then heard Inu-Yasha curse. He had tried to pick up the tainted jewel shard, but couldn't. Kagome quickly turned and reached for the shard, but a clawed hand caught her own.
"What do you think you are doing human?" Sesshomaru asked, his face coming into view of hers. Kagome gulped and pulled free of his grasp. Sesshomaru's eyes were cold and dark, his only thoughts were 'this human may seem to be strong, but she must be an idiot'.
Kagome frowned deeply. "I'm getting the jewel shard so I can purify it" she said defiantly. Inu-Yasha was then behind her, keeping Tetsusaiga ready to fight. Kagome shivered slightly from the cold glare Sesshomaru was giving Inu-Yasha.
"You could have been burned if you had touched that puddle of such a weak demon" Sesshomaru said, keeping his voice level and stern. While he had been so close to the human wench, he had noticed an intoxicating scent around her. He wanted to figure out why it had been intoxicating to him, and the only for that to happen was to get her close again.
Kagome sighed and reached down again, this time more careful as she plucked the shard from the goop. In that instant, the tainted jewel glowed brightly and shone purple as her purifying miko energy surrounded it and purified it. Quickly, she placed it in her vial with the rest of the jewel shards she and her friends had recovered. She then looked up at Sesshomaru hesitantly. What was going to happen next?
Inu-Yasha growled low for a moment, not sure what to do. Why had Sesshomaru saved Kagome? Sesshomaru hated and loathed humans with every fiber of his being! Didn't he? Inu-Yasha pushed away the possobility that Sesshomaur didn't hate humans as much as he had thought. "Alright Sesshomaur, the fights over, now tell us what you want!" Inu-Yasha demanded.
Sesshomaru turned his freezing gaze away from Kagome and onto his baka half brother. "I have come for your wench" he simply said and then Kagome found herself tightly held against Sesshomaru. "And untill I decide, she shall be staying with me." he said and pressed his thumb at the base of her neck, knocking her out in her arms.
Inu-Yasha froze in shock, again. "What the hell?! Let her go Sesshomaru!" Inu-Yasha screamed as he lifted Tetsusaiga into the air threatening. But before he could attack, Sesshomaru was in the air, flying quickly away from the group, Kagome in his arms.
