The Healing Holy Powers of Love
Disclaimer: I do not own Inu Yasha, but I do have Miroku chained to my bed.
~*~
I sat by the fire, narrowing my eyes before sighing pitifully.
“This is never going to work,” I sighed as I turned around and lay on my stomach so the fire was to my left side as I placed my math notebook to the side of my book. I looked at the math equation and smiled as I figured it out. “Yes! This is easy!” I began to write down the formula from the book and began applying the proper methods of balancing the equation.
“Kagome, would you like to take a bath?” Sango asked and I looked up at her before realizing I had been talking to myself…again. I sweated slightly as I looked at Sango and at the list of problems I had to complete.
“Not now Sango, I might later, but I just figured out how to do this, do you mind going alone?” I asked, silently praying that she would be fine, she had been acting funny lately.
“Not at all, Kagome, do you mind if I take Shippo with me?” she asked and I saw said kitsune bouncing around with Kilala, he was filthy.
“Yea, he needs it more than I do, that’s for sure, plus he’ll fall asleep as soon as you get back,” I stated as I began to continue balancing the equation.
“Keh, I don’t see why you’re even bothering,” Inu Yasha stated and I felt my eye twitch as I glared at him. “You should just forget that stupid sk-ool and stay here to find the jewel shards so we can find Naraku.” I gave him another glare torn between anger and sorrow…I chose anger.
“Inu Yasha…” I growled and I felt a bit bad about the enjoyment I got from his suddenly squirming.
“I’m gonna go hunt now!” he cried before bouncing away as fast as his little red covered butt could go.
“SIT!” I screamed and felt a sick pleasure from the cry of anguish not quite far enough away.
“Very nice, Kagome,” Miroku said from the log he was meditating on. I blushed as I realized I had disturbed him.
“I’m sorry, Miroku, I shouldn’t have yelled, I didn’t mean to disturb you,” I apologized as I continued figuring out the length of the remaining side of the right triangle.
“No need to worry, Kagome, I was practically falling a sleep,” he stated and I chuckled.
“You always look like you’re falling asleep when you’re meditating,” I giggled as I fished my calculator out of my pack, quickly popping the numbers in and laughing as I got the answer that was listed in the back of the book. “Yes, I think I’ve figured it out! I might not bomb the next test.” I heard Miroku moving around, but I didn’t think about it as I continued onto the next question, getting an answer just as easy as the first one. I kicked my feet back and forth behind me as I worked.
Then came the warmth of a hand on the curve of my butt, moving up and down so that the thumb gently caressed where my buttock met my thigh back up so that the side of the palm brushed the small of my back.
“Miroku, you pervert!” I cried as I slapped him and turned to glare at him only to find him laughing as he felt his cheek.
“I have been caressing Sango for far too long,” he chuckled and I looked at him.
“What are you talking about?” I cried, ready to hit him again and he pulled his hand from his cheek, there was barely a hand print at all.
“That didn’t even hurt at all,” he chuckled and I couldn’t help but giggle.
“I think I’ll have to sic Sango on you when she gets back, you’re getting immune to being slapped by normal women thanks to her,” I teased and he smiled, his black bangs covering his forehead to brush against his beautiful, thick eyelashes. I smiled, it was unfair, how come guys had such thick, dark lashes normally and I had to put on a pound of mascara to achieve a rougher, forced effect.
“My apologies, Lady Kagome, I couldn’t help myself,” he stated and I shook my head before smiling.
“Miroku, you can never help yourself, if you could, we would all be worried you were sick,” I replied as I returned to my book, this time sitting on my butt with the book in my crossed legs.
“What is it you are studying this time, Lady Kagome?” he asked as he approached me and I looked at him. Of our group, only Miroku actually seemed to care about my schooling, plus it was fun to talk with him about various subjects, even though Miroku was five hundred years behind me in scholar ideas and such, he was the most knowledgeable of all my feudal era friends, next to Kaede, of course.
“Geometry, it’s a form of mathematics,” I stated as I held out the book and motioned for Miroku to join me next to the fire. He settled himself down and looked at the book. “I’m learning how to figure out the angle and the length of a side of various shapes using the known angles and sides. I’m not sure how I’ll use this later on in life, but who knows?” I shrugged as I let Miroku look at the book and then I began to decipher the length of a quadrilateral’s sides using the angles.
“This is very complex but I think the underlying method is rather simple,” Miroku stated and I smiled.
“Yea, of course, Sango, Inu Yasha, and Shippo would think I was speaking another language,” I sighed and Miroku nodded.
“That is to be expected, Kagome, you are from a time where everyone can read, everyone is required to receive an education, and everyone has a right to knowledge. You must remember that Inu Yasha probably only learned to read and did very little with it, Shippo is still young, the fact that he can read is impressive for a child, and Sango only received limited education so that she could help maintain the records that the village kept. None of our companions really has a reason to be more of a scholar,” Miroku sighed and we sat there for a moment. I finished my last equation and put the books away before taking out a literature book.
“Want to listen to the story I have to read for class?” I asked, Inu Yasha would be sulking for awhile and I could hear Shippo complaining about not wanting to use soap, usually that meant a good half hour to an hour of wrestling the little kit till he was clean. Miroku looked at the book before smiling, I had let Miroku read it a few times, he seemed to love books and I always made an effort to bring him a good book when I could. Mom had lent me several books set in the feudal era for Miroku and I had snuck in some of my favorite authors such Abe Kobo, Yoshimoto Banana, and a few foreign authors like Stephen King and Shakespeare. I spoiled Miroku with a wide selection of books.
“What are you reading?” he asked, another thing about Miroku, if he wasn’t interested he would politely decline, unlike a rude, crude, and rather offensive hanyou. I smiled as I opened up the book.
“A foreign story by Edgar Allen Poe, it’s called The Cask of Amontillado,” I stated as I looked at him and Miroku shrugged before taking on a meditative pose and looking at me. “So you want me to read it aloud?”
“If you don’t mind, Lady Kagome, there is nothing more enjoyable than to listen to a beautiful woman reading to me,” he teased and I laughed before I began reading.

“…the links about his waist, it was but the work of a few seconds to secure it. He was too much astounded to resist. Withdrawing the key I stepped…” I read as Miroku sat staring at me as if I really was Montresor telling him about what I had done to Fortunato.
“What are you two doing?” Shippo asked as he hopped unto Miroku’s shoulder and I smiled at Shippo, his eyelids were drooping and I knew he’d be asleep before I could finish the story.
“Lady Kagome is reading me a rather disturbing story, Shippo,” Miroku stated and I nodded as I looked at a very irritated Sango, who had probably had a very hard time getting Shippo so clean.
“I take it the bath wasn’t too relaxing,” I said and Sango glared at the kit before sighing and getting ready to sleep.
“I think next time you can take Shippo to bathe, Kagome,” Sango stated as she turned her back to the fire and I giggled as I nodded and then began to read. Shippo loosing his interest in the first three minutes and he quickly found himself curled up against Sango.
“…re-erected the old rampart of bones. For the half of a century no mortal has disturbed them. In pace requiescat!” I finished the story and closed the book, turning to look at Miroku who was staring into the fire. “So, was that super creepy or was it just me?” He chuckled as he turned to me with a smile.
“I have to agree on the creepy part, Kagome, although, it makes me think a bit about Inu Yasha,” he said and I nodded.
“Fifty years bound to a tree seems gentler than fifty years buried in a wall in an abandoned wine cellar,” I sighed as I hugged my knees. “That was by an American named Edgar Allen Poe, I’ve read a few other of his works. A lot of teachers use him because he had a wonderful sense of imagery.” Miroku nodded.
“I agree, there is another one of his stories in there, I believe, I think it was along the lines of The Fall of the House of…Uster?” he said as he tapped his chin in thought.
“Oh, The Fall of the House of Usher, that was very similar to this one in the way the sister was buried alive,” I replied and Miroku nodded.
“I was disturbed by the incestuous references, if I had a sister I would not be able to bring myself to do something so horrible,” he stated and I nodded.
“It creeps me out, I can’t imagine Souta and I having to do something horrible like that,” I hissed and I shivered.
“Still you have brother,” Miroku stated and I looked at him before I shoved him lightly.
“Oh, you never know Miroku, the way your family line acts you might just have a brother or sister somewhere,” I said and he looked at me in horror. “What’s wrong?” He shook his head before hugging his knees.
“I hope that you are wrong Kagome, I would hate to think that somewhere I have a brother or sister who is unable to protect themselves from the wind tunnel,” he hissed and I quickly moved to his side, patting his shoulder.
“I’m sorry Miroku, I was only teasing,” I whispered and he stared at the fire. “Somehow, I’m sure you’re an only child. You seem so cautious with who you ask, I don’t think your father would be any different.” Miroku just stared into the fire with a depressed look in his eyes. I hesitantly hugged him from behind and he seemed to relax somewhat in my arms. His cursed hand came up to touch one of mine and I was somewhat reminded of the time I comforted Inu Yasha after he went full youkai for the first time.
“Thank you, Kagome,” he whispered as we sat there for a moment before I felt his other hand stroking my butt. I hit him on the back of the head.
“You irritate me sometimes,” I sighed as I headed over to my bed roll. “Goodnight, Miroku.”
“Goodnight, Kagome,” he replied.

“I still do not fully agree with this practice of democracy, Kagome, it seems that actions take longer than necessary,” Miroku stated as we walked, Inu Yasha was scowling since I had to sit him for chasing Shippo. Shippo and Kilala were walking with Sango as she glared at Miroku for this mornings groping.
“True, Miroku, however, this limits the abuse that governmental officials could cause by having absolute power. As the saying goes, absolute power corrupts absolutely,” I stated as I wagged a finger at him and Miroku nodded.
“Still, the amount of time for simple decisions to be made seems like it could be very dangerous. What if an important decision was needed to be made, it could harm the people if left to be argued over for months or even years,” Miroku said and I nodded.
“It does, but it’s better than slavery under a single, evil ruler,” I retorted and Miroku began to respond.
“Could you two please stop talking about that crap, you’re boring the hell out of me!” Inu Yasha whined and I sighed as I watched him scratch his ear as if he had ear mites. I made a mental note to pick up something to clean his ears out next time I went home, something that would sting.
“Inu Yasha, some of us like to talk while walking,” Miroku stated and Sango and Shippo coughed.
“Actually, Miroku, we’re quite bored with your conversation as well,” Sango whispered and both Miroku and I sighed before looking at each other.
“Maybe if we find an inn we can talk more over some sake?” Miroku offered and I smiled.
“I’m sure you’ll find the best in town, but sure, it’s a date, Miroku,” I smiled and I heard everyone balk and I slowly realized what I had said. “Not a date date! I meant an agreed time and meeting date!” I sighed as I looked at the smug look on Miroku’s face and the shock on Sango, Inu Yasha, and Shippo’s faced. “You all know that’s not what I meant!” I walked on ahead grumping about stupid monks and stubborn hanyous.

We watched the geishas dance as the lord thanked Miroku for ‘exorcizing’ the demonic aura. I sat next to Inu Yasha as he shoved as much food down his gullet as he could in one sitting. I simply watched him and began getting ill as I turned to see Shippo doing the same thing.
“I need to keep those two apart,” I muttered as I ate as daintily as I could to try and set some example for Shippo.
“Lady Kagome, would you have some sake with me?” Miroku asked and I looked at him before looking at Sango and then Inu Yasha.
“Just the two of us? Sango? Inu Yasha?” I asked and Sango shook her head, placing a hand over her lower stomach, our signal that it was that time of the month. Sango couldn’t drink when it was hers or she’d be violently ill within a few hours.
“Nah, I think it’s better if I take Shippo and Kilala and we sleep outside of the village,” Inu Yasha stated and I looked to see several of the lord’s men glaring at him and the two youkai.
“That’s probably for the best,” I sighed before reaching for his hand, but Inu Yasha simply left and I closed my eyes to keep the pain away.
“How about that drink?” Miroku asked and I nodded as I watched him pour the sake into my cup. I sipped and sighed before settling next to Miroku and listening to the geishas’ poetry. “Are you okay, Lady Kagome?” I shrugged.
“I can never tell with him, Miroku, sometimes I think it would be easier to find Naraku than to understand Inu Yasha,” I whispered as I sipped the warm liquid again.
“Love has never been easy to understand, Lady Kagome, trust me, I have tried,” he sighed as he sipped and I smiled at Miroku. He seemed so old in that moment, his beautiful eyes staring down into his cup as if it was giving him the words to say. Slowly, something began to register in my mind.
“Tried? Not succeeded?” I asked absently as I swirled the sake in my cup slowly before emptying the cup in front of me.
“No, I thought…it doesn’t matter,” he whispered as we ignored the geishas. I looked at him as he stared into my eyes.
“I thought…” I started and he shook his head.
“She’s agreed to marry Kuranosuke in exchange for his people agreeing to become taijiya,” he whispered. “I cannot offer her a future or even the continuation of her people’s traditions. All I can offer her is my presence for however long I may have if we do not find Naraku and then the possibility of a child that will share my fate.”
“Miroku…” I whispered and he shook his head again.
“Kagome, Sango has made her choice, I won’t force her to break her word. I will let her go because I love her,” Miroku said as he drained his glass and picked up several pitchers of sake. “Shall we continue this conversation elsewhere?” I nodded following him to his room where we sat down across from each other.
We drank in silence for a moment, my mind whirling with this news, Sango hadn’t said anything to me. I sighed before looking at Miroku’s flushed cheeks.
“Sango loves you,” I stated and he smiled sadly.
“Yes, she loves me, but we both know that Sango is not the type of woman to follow her heart when she has a duty. Her duty is to see her way of life survive since Kohaku is probably going to die in Naraku’s grasp. I believe she’s accepted this fact, that’s why she plans to leave and go to…him. She will become his bride if all his vassals become youkai slayers,” he sighed, hiding behind his bangs and I stared at him.
“It hurts when they feel so duty bound to people who are no longer here,” I sighed as I looked into my cup and sipped slowly before refilling my cup.
“What?” Miroku asked and I smiled bitterly.
“Inu Yasha plans on joining Kikyo after he destroys Naraku,” I whispered as I looked at the floor.
“But…I thought we found Kikyo’s remains in the mountains,” Miroku stated and I nodded.
“Oh, that was her, but Inu Yasha feels he should be with her,” I sighed and Miroku stated blankly.
“But you are Kikyo’s reincarnation…” he said dumbly and I laughed as I stared at him.
“Miroku, I’m not Kikyo, I’m five hundred years from Kikyo, Inu Yasha wants to join Kikyo, I don’t know, he plans on ending his life after he ends Naraku’s,” I sighed as I hugged my knees. “I’ve…I’ve been trying to tell him that I want to be with him. He’s been pushing me away for some time now.”
“I…I didn’t even notice,” he whispered.
“Of course not, he still picks fights with me, but if you notice he seems to vanish not long before Koga shows up, we never go so fast that I need to ride on his back anymore, and he’s even given up fighting with Shippo,” I sighed. “They were small gradual changes, I only found out his intend a few weeks ago, I promised I wouldn’t tell everyone.” Miroku smirked as he leaned towards me.
“But you told me,” he stated and I smiled as I leaned towards him.
“You’re only Miroku, you’re not everyone, I think you can keep the secret,” I whispered as I reached out to tuck some of his bangs out of his face.
“Kagome,” he whispered and I realized how close we were.
“Miroku,” I gasped as I looked at him and his hands caught my shoulders, pulling me towards him, spilling me against his body. My breasts were pressed against his hard chest, my hands on his thighs in a pathetic attempt to stop my fall, my nose brushing against his as he stared at me with a predatory gaze.
“Kagome, we seem to be in similar situations of the heart,” he whispered and I looked at him as if seeing him for the first time. Miroku was possibly my best friend since Inu Yasha had revealed his intentions after we defeated Naraku. I had no doubt we would and relatively soon. I looked at Miroku the feeling of his beads on my shoulder made me even more determined to see this quest to the end.
“I think I would like to change my situation,” I whispered and Miroku’s eyes became dark with lust as he pulled me towards him.
“Do you understand what you’re saying?” he asked and I felt his hands spasm. I smiled as I slowly moved my hands up so my arms were wrapped around his neck.
“Miroku, you’re the only person in either time I feel equal with,” I whispered as I gently rubbed the tip of my nose against his. “The only intellectual equal, the only mystical equal, and the only person I feel in sync with since Inu Yasha ripped the world out from under me.”
“Kagome,” he whispered before closing the distance between us, his lips against mine, hot silk against me. I shivered and his arms moved around me, letting me feel the hard muscles hidden beneath his billowing robes.
We kissed each other, drinking from each other’s mouths before his tongue found its way beyond my teeth to brush against mine. I moaned as Miroku’s tongue made love to my mouth and I found my hands lost in his hair, the tie somehow missing.
I wasn’t sure how, but I ended up on the futon, Miroku over me as we continued kissing. I let his hips rest between my legs as we continued to wrestle with out tongues. I could feel something inside of me pulsing, like it did when I was about to shoot a sacred arrow, however, something else pulsed that I had never felt before and I gasped in amazement at the same time as Miroku. We stared at each other and another pulse passed through us and I gasped in pleasure as the two pulses seemed to merge into one. The next one was unbelievable.
“What is this?” Miroku whispered as he began to kiss down my neck, my hands somehow ending on the tie for his robe. Another pulse of spiritual power passed through us and I clenched my thighs around his as he groaned, sucking hard over my pulse.
“I don’t know, but don’t stop,” I hissed as I pulled the over robe off of him pushing them to the side. He groaned as my fingers began pulling on his robe’s tie, pulling it apart to letting my hands slip into his clothing, allowing me to play with his hot skin. He pulled my hands away, pulling away from me, kneeling between my legs as he pulled his robes off, revealing his skintight leggings. I stared at him, his hair down, around his chin as he stared at me, panting. His chest heaving in time with mine as another pulse passed through us. I stared at the muscles that I hadn’t realized must lie beneath his billowing monk’s robes.
I gazed at him before another pulse ravaged our bodies, sending Miroku on me like a hungry wolf on a helpless lamb. His large hands grasped the center of my shirt, pulling savagely to the sides, ripping my shirt right off of me. I gasped as he stared at my bra encased breasts.
“Remove it Kagome, or I will do the same,” he growled, it was as good as one of Inu Yasha’s. I quickly removed the bra, crying out as his hot mouth encased one nipple and the callused gently caress of his cursed hand as his other unbuttoned my skirt.
I was lost in the pleasure of Miroku’s suckling on my breasts, the hot, wet, delicious feeling of his mouth on my body. We were both naked and I was below him by the time I regained myself.
“Miroku,” I whispered and he stopped after the next pulsed raged by. He stared at me, barely himself, but able to stop enough to look at me.
“What?” he moaned and I stroked his cheek.
“You won’t leave me?” I asked and he looked at me, slowly coming to himself.
“You know I can’t promise that,” he whispered and I looked at his hand, stroking it.
“If the curse wasn’t an option, you wouldn’t leave me,” I whispered again and he stared at me before burying his face into my neck.
“Never, Kagome, my friend, my lover…” his body pressed against me. The heat coming off his chest against mine was too much and I arched up against him as the next pulse moved through us.
“Miroku!” I hissed and I felt something hard and incredibly hot brush against my core. We both froze, the tip of that hard heat at my entrance began to tease me and I moaned as Miroku began to taunt and play with me. I began to writhe beneath him. “Stop teasing, Miroku!” He froze and I whimpered as I looked up at him and he smiled, so sincerely that I stopped.
“Kagome, will you bear my child?” he asked and I glared at him for a moment before pulling his head down so I could kiss him deeply.
“Not if you don’t hurry up, because a dead man fathers no children,” I growled and he laughed before kissing me. He thrust into me as the next pulse hit and it felt beyond good beyond anything I had ever experienced before. It was better than the first plunge into a hot spring on a chilly evening, better than the wind through my hair as I studied in the forest with Kaede, better than Momma’s oden, it was the most wonderful feeling ever, my energy pulsing as Miroku remained stationary over me, his energy pulsing with mine as we stared at each other.
“Kagome…” he managed to gasp before he thrust and the feeling of his silken heat moving within me was so pleasurable I screamed. The moment our hips met a pulse of energy moved through us and for a moment I knew how Miroku felt within me knowing how I felt with him inside of me. Miroku’s hips jerked, causing another pulse.
“Faster…” I hissed and slowly we developed a rhythm, the hard locking of our hips with the pleasurable pulse then the slow pull back and the hard thrust.
Miroku’s silken manhood ravaged my core as we drank from each others’ mouths, our tongues dancing as our hips collided. The pulses became more powerful till I realized that the lamps had gone out and the room was still well lit. I stared at the lit wall before realizing our pulses were glowing, lighting the room with our lovemaking.
“Miroku…” I moaned as I felt tension begin building in my lower body, my hips moving up towards his, the burning tension began to feel doubled and I grabbed his hands. His hands began to clench mine and we both began moaning. The tension suddenly released and I couldn’t contain the scream as the pleasure rushed through my body. Miroku’s movement within me became labored and he groaned as the warmth spread from him to me and me to him. I didn’t know where I began and where Miroku ended, or perhaps it was were I ended and Miroku began. We were one in that moment and I felt a wave of spiritual energy wash over us. I felt his forehead his my shoulder and then there was nothing.

“…I’m sorry but I think the war was only going to continue if America hadn’t dropped the bomb,” I stated as I placed Miroku’s rice down in front of him as we rested in Kaede’s hut.
“It was as you say…overkill…I don’t believe it will be necessary to drop such a massive weapon on two cities,” Miroku stated as he started eating. “Where did Inu Yasha take Shippo?” I shrugged as I sat down next to him, fixing my kimono so I could sit easier.
“He wants Shippo to learn how to hunt, he said they’d be gone three days this time,” I stated and Miroku gave me a look I was quite used to. “Not till after dinner.”
“I still don’t know why you insist on that,” he stated and I gave him a look.
“We had half the village thinking we were being murdered that first time, and you know that,” I stated as I slapped his hand and he sighed.
“I miss having the guard, getting a smack on the hand was nothing with that hand guard on,” he whined and I looked at him before chuckling.
“No, Miroku, Inu Yasha might be with Shippo for a few days and Kaede and Sango might be helping with that youkai a few villages over, but we’re going to wait till most of the village is asleep,” I stated as I tapped him on the nose and he smirked.
“I still wonder what Naraku said when he realized the curse was gone,” Miroku chucked as he looked at his complete hand as he did every night since our first together.
“I don’t care,” I sighed as I rubbed my belly, his hand over mine.
“Can you feel anything?” he asked and I shook my head.
“Momma says I probably won’t for a few months,” I stated and he sighed as he pulled me into his lap. I looked at him and wondered if it had been a wise decision to get pregnant with Naraku still after us. Then again, since our first night our spiritual powers have been growing, becoming stronger and since we had gotten married. With the discovery of our pregnancy Inu Yasha had begun taking Shippo out to train him, Sango had been helping take over my place with Kaede, and Miroku, he had been building a hut of our own, where my house will one day stand.
“Anyway, I still think the bombs, while very brutal, probably saved more lives by ending the war,” I stated as I continued dinner in my husband’s lap.
“I choose to disagree, a peaceful situation could have been found,” he argued and I smiled around my chopsticks as we talked into the night…

I kicked my feet back and forth behind me as I worked.
Then came the warmth of a hand on the curve of my butt, moving up and down so that the thumb gently caressed where my buttock met my thigh back up so that the side of the palm brushed the small of my back.
