Prologue
The battle was over. Naraku was finally dead. After four years of earching for shards and fighting it was finally over. The jewel was complete and purified. But it came with a sacrifice.
Everyone was dead. Miroku died protecting Sango, who was brutally murdered by a snake demon. She didn’t know where Shippo and Kirara were, but guessed that they died as well. Her first love, Inu Yasha went straight to hell with Kikyo. She felt betrayed, but then, he didn’t know she was still alive. She watched, too wounded to move or yell as Kikyo wrapped her arms lovingly around him bringing him to his demise. Even if he did see her, it wouldn’t have mattered. He promised to Kikyo that he would go with her. But he didn’t even look sad about her disappearance. Didn’t he care?
No, she wouldn’t think about it, it was too soon. There was nothing left for her here. The battle happened at the village, which was now a large black scorch mark. She doubted that anyone human could survive that.
She moves to get up and howls in pain. Right after Naraku was defeated, there was a large explosion throwing her into the bushes. She guessed that if Naraku knew he would have been defeated, he would die with a big bang. She looked down and nearly blacked out at the bloody sight. Her legs were broken, her right leg was in an unnatural angle. She touched her ribs and guessed that ribs were also broken. Looks like she was going to have to put them back in place. She lied on her back and looked up into the cloudy night sky. It was hopeless. What was the point of healing herself when there was nothing to look forward to?
In her hand was the completed Shikon no Tama. She scowled at it and closed her hand up, not wanting to see the horrible thing. If she didn’t have it in her body none of this would have happened. The centipede wouldn’t have dragged her back to this era, she wouldn’t have met Inu Yasha and the others. She would have been at home studying for an important test, not trying to save the world.
She dropped it to the ground and watched as the moonlight reflected off the pink jewel. She could just leave it here and wait to die. There was no point of protecting it; it would only bring more despair.
‘But what if some demon takes it?’ A voice in her head asked.
‘Well then, that’s what will happen. I am going to die anyway, I am too weak to guard it.’
She still reaches out and takes it in her hands again, feeling the smooth surface.
“I wonder. Could I crawl all the way to the well before I die? Maybe I could go to the other side.” She says out loud. She nods to herself and slides slowly to her stomach, wincing as her body protested. She could get her life back. And there were no demons on the other side, so it would be easy to watch over… right?
“I can’t believe I’m actually doing this. I have two broken legs, probably some broken ribs and I am going to crawl all the way to the well. Everyone I love is dead in this era and I am not even crying. Plus I am going crazy too, talking as though someone was listening to me. What has my life come to?”
She grabbed at anything that her sore hands could reach and propelled herself forward. She barely made a few meters before her tired body was covered in red sweat. She breathes in deeply and closed her eyes.
“I can do this. If I can survive a explosion, I can surely do this.”
Two hours later she saw the trees beginning to part. Her breath came out raggedly as she pushed herself onward, ignoring her screaming aching muscles. As she reached the clearing she looked blankly at the sight before her.
The well was gone. Only rubble remained. Her chocolate brown eyes cleared of emotion. She rested her head on the rough ground and sighed.
‘My home… Everything I know is gone. I am truly alone.’
Her sobs echoed in the silent night.

Dont worry Sesshie fans, he will come. Just to warn you, he will be very horrible to Kagome in the next couple of chapters. But it will turn out in the end.
