chapter 1: Grieving my loss, and finding my way

Inuyasha's eyes were glazed over in unshed tears. He stared at the mound of dirt at his feet. It was her grave. The bright little miko who had mended the hearts of her friends and everyone she met, including his. She had died, and was buried here, under the Sacred Tree. Villagers had come and paid their respects to the young girl. 'She had promised' Inuyahsa thought'She had promised to stay by my side forever'He wondered if she was going to keep her promise, or did she abandon him like all the others? He missed her deeply, and never left the grave, not to eat or socialize, he wouldn't even talk to his closest friends. Always mourning, nothing more. Everyday that goes by, he only wished that some demon would come and kill him or he would die of starvation, anything would be better than living without *his* Kagome. He could recall the incident that had taken her away from him, it replayed over and over again in his head each day, killing him more inside every time. Staring blankly at nothing at all, he watched the scene unfold in front of him, as if he were a by-stander, just watching.
*~*~*FLASHBACK*~*~*
Kagome was caught in a battle to the death with a very powerful demon. The opposer's name was Sorano. She had pink eyes, red eye shaddow, and could create any weapon imaginable. Her out fit consisted of a black silk long-sleeved top that cuffed off at her finger-tips, and the rims of the sleeves were laced with red. The top ended just below her chest, and the long flare pants started just covering her belly button. They were also black silk, cuffed with red lace. Her long light pink hair was braided and tossed over her right shoulder, and ended where her pants began.
She stretched her left arm out to her side so it was paralell to her shoulder, her palm open. She spoke calmly and slow, "Let's play a little game, shall we? You choose a weapon and I choose one. Open fire. The last one standing wins!"Sorano laughed an evil laugh. "Im using a bow and arrow." stated Kagome. "My weapon shall be......my sword of elements!" she replied. Kagome notched her arrow and drew back ready to let it fly. "Ready?" she asked soberly, as a light formed in her palm, and it took shape as a giant sword. Kagome stared at her giving her a death glare. "I guess so!" said Sorano a bit annoyed. She charged straight at Kagome. When Kagome let loose her arrow, Sorano yelled, "Wind!" Just then a tornado appeared around the demon, reflecting the weapon, making it drop to the ground, usless. "You got to be kidding is that all you got?!"retorted Sorano. Notching two arrows Kagome took aim at the youkai."Die!" screamed a very angry miko. The girl yawned and pattered her mouth, to show she was bored, then tiredly said, "fire.'' A blaze of crackling flames engulfed the woman, when the arrows hit the wall of heat, they burned instantly. "My turn,.......ice daggers!" Sorano shouted. Out of nowhere, hundreds of ice blades appeared, all headed at Kagome. She fell to the ground, bleeding from numerous cuts. Inuyasha ran to her side as the demon girl faded into blackness.
Cradling Kagome in his arms, blood soaked his haori. "Please Kagome, no, please dont go, dont leave me here all alone!" cried Inuyasha "I'll be with you, dont worry, I promise."choked out Kagome "No Kagome you cant die on me, I forbid it, I love you!"he whispered "I love you too Inuyasha..." came the barley audible reply. Her body fell limp, but not before she whispered, "I'll wait for you...I promise..."

It had been 8 months since that nightmare started and still after all that time, every word, so clear, every picture, so vivid. A gentle breeze blew Inuyasha's hair sofltly. A small hand brushed a stray lock of hair out of his face. He lifted his head ever so slightly. His eyes widened and filled with hope, there sat Kagome across from him, smiling. " I told you I would wait, I have been waiting, by your side always." she spoke lovingly. "Ka....Ka....Kagome?! Is that really you?!" Inuyasha asked very surprised and hopfull. "Inuyasha...." whispered Kagome while caressing his cheek. Inuyasha was stunned to say the least. Kagome took his hand in hers, and pulled them both up. She led them on a silent walk, to a giant cliff. They watched the sunset, turning the skies reds, yellows, and pinks. "We have to go now Inuyasha." spoke Kagome with a smile, adding, "Will you come with me?" Inuyasha's eyes lit up, with joy. "Yes..." he breathed. They stood under the Sacred Tree now. Inuyasha pulled Kagome into his lap and embraced her for all he was worth.Together, their souls rose to Heaven, holding hands never to be apart again. She had kept her promise.
Miroku and Songo came by to say hello the next day, when they found Inuyasha, he had his legs crossed, arms in his sleeves, and head bowed. He didn't move when they called his name, or touched his shoulder, he never responded. Inuyasha had died that night. They buried his body, and visited their friends graves everyday. When they too departed from this world, they were also buried with their dear friends, Kagome and Inuyasha. They were all re-united in Heaven once more. Shippo, Songo, Inuyasha, Kagome, Kilala, and Miroku were marked as Fudal Japan's heroes.
Items were left by each individual to mark thier graves forever. This proved that these amazing heroes existed. These clothes became a memory, and that memory became a legend, and that legend, became a myth, and that myth was soon forgotten.
