Chapter One: Snow Storm

Kanawa Kikyou shivered and pulled a wool blanket around her. Her lips were turning blue, and there was nothing she could do. They had been stuck there for hours, and were sure to die. They of course meaning, she and Teshima InuYasha. Now, since you are just hearing about this story, I should tell you that Kanawa Kikyou and Teshima InuYasha, have not known each other long. It was actually all a plan of Kikyou's best friend Takagi Sango. At first the whole group didn't agree with her to be alone for a week, in the mountains. However, they soon realized that it would be best to spend some time out of the city. That is, the city of Tokyo.

Three days ago they had left, boarded the train and set off into the high mountains in Europe. Coming from Japan, none of them spoke english very well, but they had managed to get by. The first two days were great ice breakers, and they had gotten to know each other very well. Except, Teshima InuYasha and Kanawa Kikyou. They were the rebelious punks of the school, and there was no room for both the trouble makers. There was no hatred, or loathe, just something never rubbed them the right way. Even though I must let you in on the fact that Kikyou has liked InuYasha since the 7th grade. InuYasha was a loner, and he had lived on his own pretty much before then. His father had abandoned him, and died. His mother died shortly after she gave birth, and his brother... well, they arent exactly a "close-knit" family.

Now, InuYasha was never the sort to depend on others, but Kikyous warm aura seemed very tempting. And now folks, I must inform you that InuYasha... has liked Kikyou for a while as well. Now back in the cabin things were terrible. Kikyou thought they might never get out alive, or worse, be left to freeze until they were rescued. Either way the outlook was grim, and nither of them spoke a word. InuYasha closed all the doors and windows tightly, and pushed the chairs against the doors to keep out the cold. The fire was withering down and they sat in front of it, greedily stealing the warm rays of the flames.

InuYasha glanced sideways at the shivering woman. Much to his desire she closed her eyes and let out a sigh. She said not a word, but kept her eyes closed, leaning against the brick walls, drawing her wool covering up over her shoulders. He took in the sight of her sleeping body, and the way the frost made her skin glow. Her lips were the softest shade of pink and her hair stood out form the snow in a deep midnight black. She opened her eyes to look at him, oh those eyes, the most beautiful chocolate orbs in the world. And the way her lashes fluttered when she blinked at him. And now he realized she was staring at him, wondering what he was watching her for.

Shifting her position uncomfortably, though complety engulfed in wool fibers she found it hard to move. She slowly made her way closer to the fire, until she could smell the burning embers. One popped from the screen and landed on her nose. She flinched and drew back quickly, rubbing the end of her nose. She looked sideways at InuYasha who was staring at her again. He opened one of the windows slightly and took a handful of snow. He shut the windows again, and handed her the packed ball of ice. "You okay?" he breathed. Kikyou nodded, and slowly put the cold snow to her aching nose. It was soothed instantly, and then she started to lick the frozen liquid.

InuYasha watched, in agony. Nothing could be realized in his lusting heart, and there was nothing he could say. He was to afraid, afraid he'd scare her. Afraid... that she wouldn't talk back. She had barely said a word, and he had barely even moved. He drew up by the fire again and rested his head on his palm. Directing his gaze at the woman who sat just feet from him. And he shivered while the fire started to die down. He threw in another chunk of wood, and got another blanket from the couch. Coming over, he saw her shake in fear and frost, and he lay the blanket over her shoulders. She looked up at him and smiled lightly, "Arigatou, though... you must... be cold..." she shivered and then watched him, he didn't say anything and just pulled himself down to sit on the woven rug that lay before the hearth. He kept watching her as she drifted into a light sleep.

He made sure she was warm and then went into the kitchen to make some warm soup. To his surprise the stove still wokred brilliantly. He heated up some chicken ramen in little effort and time. He lay out two bowls and two sets of chopsticks. It had always been a fun game for the four of them to see who could eat the most noodles with just one chopstick. The game had great laughs behind the irony and immaturity, but it was only for the sake of hilarity, that now was non existant. InuYasha sat beside her and gently shook her shoulder. She opened her eyes and smiled when she saw the warm soup. Letting the white of her bright teeth show just a hint, she then took out one of the chopsticks and prepared herself for the fun.

Kikyou motioned for InuYasha to do the same, and then the race was on. It was a funny sight to watch as two people, so much in love, and so much in denial, be so primitive in their own demise. They were almost sure to die, unless they could rely on each other. Kikyou finished her broth and sighed, she felt alot warmer now, and looking at InuYasha's satisfied face showed that he was happy as well. But she could tell that something was weighing on his mind. And now it was tiome to talk, and finally get to know this man who was fated to be here with her. "Teshima? What... is it?" she hesitated quite a bit in talking, but found comfort in his returning sentance. "Nothing, don't worry about it." He drew closer to her so he was mere inches from her warm lips. They could both feel the warm aura coming from their bodies and InuYasha found it deeply intoxicating to his hanyou senses.

He couldn't, but he just had to, and finding the strength in her next few words was when it was. "InuYasha? Are we going to be okay?" she looked up at him, a look of fear, and worry. And dep underneath the warm chocolate brown, was a look of sadness and lonliness. InuYasha couldn't understand why those word compelled him to do it, but he had to now. It ws the only way to tell her. He drew closer and held her tightly, resting his head on hers. Kikyou gasped slightly, but settled into his warm embrace. It was what she wanted, it was everything she desired, and she could only hope that this hug was a sign of love. And then he said this, in answer to her question. "We'll be okay Kikyou... just as long as I still have you."

Now this sentance, while being a declaration of caring, was also quite true. Remember, that if you ever are cold and there is no other way to warm yourself, just hold someone tightly, and the heat from your bodies will keep you. Though there are much more intimate ways to stay warm, this was all Kikyou needed. She sighed, and hid her face in his shirt. He was intoxicated by her scent, the warm smell of bellflowers and vanilla. And the perfume that the flames gave off, it was dragging him deeper into passion. "Kikyou... I need you." he breathed, getting closer and closer to a loving kiss. "I... love you Teshima." she whaipered, and drawing nearer to him, and they were caught in a gentle kiss, and the prayers of desire were answered that day. And nither of them needed to wish anymore.

Wait, this isn't over, how did they ever get out of the cabin? We can't have a happily ever after love story, if they didn't survive... well then... on to the rest of the story. But I should fairly warn you, that the ending will not be happy. Atleast at the very end, because for now, the pair of them were the happiest of all. InuYasha drew away from their kiss, ending the light, but keeping the feeling. "Kikyou, I've been in love with you for so long. Why did it take this long for... us to finally say anything?" Kikyou had been wondering the same thing, she and InuYasha could have been married by now, if only she wasn't... afraid. That was it, she had been afraid of him, afraid that her dreams wouldn't be realized, "InuYasha... I was afraid... I thought that... you wouldn't feel the same way." InuYasha understood that, he had felt afraid as well. But there is no rewinding of time. And they had to work with what they had now, "I know, I was afraid too. But now, I have you. And we have to stay together, in order to survive.

Kikyou opened the folds of her blanket, and winced at the cold air hitting her, driving straght through her clothes. InuYasha embraced her again and she closed the warm fibers around both of them. InuYasha lay her on the floor and kissed her again, a lustful pain resided in his stomach. She could feel her own sinking feeling as well, and could also feel InuYasha. He hardened strongly, and then she knew that this experience wasn't over yet.
