Life After Graduation
Goodbye to Houjo
Kagome awoke in her bed on a Tuesday morning. She yawned and hopped out of bed. The house was empty, she missed her family already. Souta was spending his summer with their aunt Sumiko, uncle Taku, and cousin Batsu. Her mother had finally taken up the offer to travel with her sister and she had left just yesterday. Her grandfather would still be around but he was spending most of his time with his lady friend Ms. Hinata.
Even though she was home alone she was still extremely happy, and she had every reason to be. She was eighteen now and most importantly three days ago she had graduated. Kagome had said her goodbyes to her friends all except Houjo who would be coming over tomorrow night to give her a gift. She kept telling him he didn’t have to but he insisted on it. After all he thought she was going out of town, at least that is what she told him and others from school. Kagome already had her things packed to leave for Feudal Japan and now since her family was gone and she was out of school she could stay as long as she wanted. She could be with her friends, she could be with…InuYasha.
Kagome made her way to the Bone Eaters Well and hopped in clutching her overstuffed back pack and the huge box of Ramen she had bought with some of her graduation money. She sighed once she reached the bottom of the well. ‘Time to climb’ she thought to herself as she reached for the built in latter rails.
InuYasha stood over the well looking as Kagome struggled to climb the well. When she finally made it out her face was red. She looked up and saw InuYasha just staring at her.
“You could have helped me” she said as she adjusted he backpack.
“Why, you made it out didn’t you” sanuYanuYasha as he stared at the huge box in her hands.
“What’s that?” he asked as he pointed to the box. “Ramen” said Kagome flatly. “The whole box?” InuYasha asked sounding very excited. Kagome nodded her head.
“I’ll carry that” he said as he took the box from Kagome and walked on. They made their way back to Miroku and the others.
“Kagome!” shouted Shippo as he rushed to her. “I missed you.”
“I missed you too” said Kagome with a bright smile.
“So how was that GRAD U A TION thing” asked Sango.
“It was great” said Kagome. “No more school” “Ever” InuYasha asked with a raised eyebrow.
“Not unless I choose to.” “So you don’t have to go home anytime soon?” asked InuYasha in his usual tone. “Well I got to go home tomorrow for just a little while.” “Why” said InuYasha. “Well Houjo is going to give me a gift and I told him I would be there to say goodbye and all” Kagome said, not expecting InuYasha to flip out.
“NO” said InuYasha flatly as if he was answering a question. “What do you mean no” Kagome asked not knowing what InuYasha was talking about. “NO YOU”RE NOT GOING!!!” shouted InuYasha. “We have shards to find and you’re not going to waste time with that wimp trying to be all over you.” Kagome looked at InuYasha and closed her eyes and took a deep breath. “I’ll do what I want and when I wanna” said Kagome with a smile. “Fine” said InuYasha and he walked off. “Wow Kagome, I guess InuYasha knows whose boss now” said Shippo. “I agree” said Miroku “he didn’t argue or anything” “But where did he go” asked Sango. Kagome was about to speak when they heard a loud crash. They all jumped up and ran to where the loud noise came from. When the reached it Kagome looked at it with horror. There was InuYasha standing tiredly yet proudly. He had found the biggest boulder he could find and slammed it on top of the well sealing the entrance and exit.
“Don’t do this” InuYasha pleaded Kagome as she looked at the huge boulder. “Don’t make me say it” She raised her voice only slightly. “Do it” he said. “I want you too. Because I’m the only person here who is strong enough to move it and if you do say it I’ll be too weak to move it” he said with a smile. “Ah InuYasha I see you have finally learned to plan out your actions” said Miroku. InuYasha walked over to Kagome with a big smile showing his fangs proudly. “Let’s go Kagome we have shards to find.” Kagome sighed the the first time InuYasha was right. He wouldn’t move the boulder he was to stubborn for that. Kagome had only one hope and that hope was coming to her full speed with a whirlwind traveling with him. She smiled she knew he would do it. He would do anything for her she had a chance all she had to do was ask. She felt the jewel shards coming closer. “Kouga” she whispered.
