The Next Generation
Introduction‘I h‘I hate this place, I hate this place, I hate this place.’ Ethril screamed in her head. ‘I hate school.’ Ethril was glaring down at her math text book trying to keep up with what the teacher was saying.
“Will Ethril Sakura please come down to the office.” The loud and annoying intercom screeched.
‘Finally an excuse to get away from this boring math.’ She thought as she ran out of the classroom .
.
As she left she heard whispers from her other classmates wondering what Ethril had done. Little did she know that four demons were watching her in silence planning how they would capture her.
Ethril was another normal 18 year old girl, going to a normal (if boring) high school, and never got in trouble. So as she walked down the hall around the media and through the great hall she went through every possibility why she was called down to the office. ‘Maybe it’s just a mis. Or. Or maybe I’m going home for some reason I can’t remember.’ She thought ‘Maybe I’m getting an award for being the most hardworking student in the entire school district.’ she giggled at the absurd thought.
“And what seems to be so funny?” said a very deep voice from behind her.
Ethril spun around and took a fighting stance prepared to fight if necessary. But it was just her very serious father Joe Sakura.
Her father was the tall, dark, and very serious type. Every “lady” that had ever seen him had fallen instantly in love with him. When they had first moved to Vancouver every neighborhood single mom or woman came running like a stampede to say hello, offer some help, and to say what a cute little girl he had. She hates people who call her little. Her father was 6.6 but she was 5.7. When she told them her name was Ethril they would hesitate and look to her father to see if it was the truth. Ethril’s father hates people who think I lie and if they think if my name is strange. He had always told Ethril that her mother had given her, her name before she had died.
“Father, what are you doing here?” Ethril asked.
“I have come to get you. I have a job offer in Japan and we must leave immediately.” He said in a hurry.
“Alright. Let me go get my things.” Ethril said turning around to head back to class.
“Take Nara with you.” Her father said to her retreating back. A small black, twin-tailed, very cute, black cat appeared right next to her father. Nara was a fire demon cat. She had yellow horizontal stripes going down her sides and ocean blue eyes. Nara jumped into my arms and we ran back to my class.
“Mrs. Bevin, I’m going home so I came back to get my things.”
“Alright Ethril, just make sure you do your homework.” Mrs. Bevin said.
“Mrs. Bevin I.” she hesitated because her father had told her never to tell anyone about where they were moving to. “I won’t be coming back to school so I will be returning my books.” Ethril explained.
“Why won’t you be coming back Ethril?” Mrs. Bevin asked.
“I’ve been excepted into the arts school.” Ethril said quietly.
“Well then congradulations then. Just leave your books on your desk, and check out at the office.
Ethril walked over to her desk and sat down. She had to set Nara on the ground so she could take out her class books from her bag.
“Nara stop.” Ethril said brushing Nara’s paw off her leg so she wouldn’t scratch any more. “Alright I’m done lets go.”
Nara jumped back into Ethril’s arms. They left in a hurry because Ethril was getting the feeling some one was watching her.
“What is wrong Ethril?” her father asked when she and Nara got back.
“I don’t know…I feel …edgy.” Ethril shivered answering back.
“Let us leave…now.” He said looking around slowly. “Stay close and do not talk to anyone.” He said. They left walking slowly so as not to get unwanted attention.
They walked out of the school and to the taxi that was waiting for them by the curb. Since they had just moved to Vancouver everything was still packed. Ethril hugged Nara and slid into the taxi.
‘Father doesn’t look to happy. I wonder what is wrong.’ Ethril thought.
“You do not need to worry about me. As soon as we arrive at our new home you will start your new training. So we will not move again.” Her father said.
‘We will not move again’ rang through her head. She was happy they would not move again because now they could start a new life. And she was sad because now they would not travel around the world.
They arrived at the air port and her father ordered her to only speak Japanese. And now as she looked out the window holding Nara in her holder she wondered, what type of training will she be getting.
