I Will Love You... Forever

A man knelt in the sand, letting the waves swallow his legs. He held a single red rose to his chest. His long silver hair swayed back and fourth as a cool breeze blew past him. Tears streamed down from his big amber eyes following the lines on his face onto his black suit. He dropped the rose letting the tide carry it out to sea. The wind kissed his forehead in an attempt to comfort him. Not even time could take away his mistakes.


A young couple stood on the porch of the beachfront house. The waves were crashing on the shore. The girl was aimlessly running her fingers against the cold metal railing, focusing on each of the tiny grooves.

The wind began to blow tangling her long black hair. Her hands flew up as she made an attempt to fix the entangled mass. Inuyasha cupped her chin with his clawed hand, making her stop.

“You will always be beautiful to me.” His hand felt warm and she couldn’t help but to stare back at his big amber eyes.

She turned from his as the tears she had been holding back began to trickle down her face. She knew he meant what he said. He put his arm around her, but she pulled away.
“Come on Kikyo, don’t be that way. You know that I will always…”

“You will always what? Always love me?” She shouted angrily spinning around to face him. “If you love me so much than why are you leaving me?”

He made another attempt to put his arm around her. “Kikyo, I’m not leaving you… It’s just… I just need some time…”

“In other words, it’s over.” She bit out pulling away from him to stare out at the empty ocean.

“No, it’s not like that at all. I’m just not ready to make that kind of commitment.”

They stood in silence, watching the waves for a long time.

“Well, I’ll see you later…”

“Goodbye… Inuyasha.”

That was the last time Inuyasha would ever see her. That night she united with the ocean, freeing her self from all of her human sorrows. The creatures of the sea became her only companions.



Fifty years later Inuyasha returned once again to the house by the sea. Although it had been fifty years he had barely aged. He felt Kikyo’s presence though he knew she was gone. Slowly he dropped to his knees, letting the waves swallow his legs. He dropped a rose in the water, letting the tide carry it out to sea. “You know I will always love you,” he whispered into the wind.

With his head hung low he turned and headed towards the smooth, slippery rocks that lined the outer edge of the beach. His ears twitched, as he turned his head toward the hauntingly familiar voice. “Kikyo?”

On top of the large cliff-like rocks stood the woman who haunted his dreams. She wore a pale blue dress that stopped just above her knees. Her long black hair seemed to float around her. She was humming to herself, while trying to keep her balance as she as she move down the slippery rocks onto the beach below.

She cried out as she lost her balance and squeezed her eyes shut, bracing herself for impact with the rocks below. Using his demon speed he lunged forward and grabbed her waist, then pulled her to his chest.

Seeing her up close he realized she was not Kikyo. She was far more beautiful than Kikyo. “Are you alright?” He asked as he loosened his grip on her.

“I… Yes… Yes, thank you.” She stuttered as a blush spread across her cheeks. She stood up shakily, trying to regain her balance. “My name is Kagome… What’s yours?”



Kikyo held the rose to her heart as a warm wind gently embraced the two. “And I, you” she silently called out as she blew a kiss towards them.
