My Lord Has Returned
AUTHOR NOTE: (Aug. 14, 2008) I have not updated this story since my last update on May 9, 2004 and I don't anticipate any updates in the near future. I just wanted to go through and clean it up a bit since my grammar has improved from 4 years ago.
Summary: Rin has nothing but love and devotion or her Lord Sesshomaru. He did bring her back from the dead, she owns him her life...until something happens and Sesshomaru sends her away to the village to live with InuYasha and the others. Rin is now a free spirit. She has learned much from all her friends in the village and is pined for by a certain kitsune. Has Sesshomaru made an awful mistake by sending her away? Can he realize it before it's too late? Can get her to come back? This story is rated NC-17 for future hard core Lemons in future chapters and for violence. Read at your own risk...you have been warned. (This is my VERY FIRST fanfic ever! So please be gentle...lol. I want advice but no flaming. Thanks and enjoy the first chapter. I will be adding more very soon.)
Chapter 1: My Lord Has Returned
A ray of sunlight came through the window and landed on her face. Rin squinted her eyes. She was somewhat disappointed because of the wonderful dream she had been having. She dreamed that her beloved Lord Sesshoumaru had finally returned home from roaming his Western Lands. He'd left about a month ago on the promise that he would return by her seventeenth birthday.
He had some important business to attend to. It seemed that some angry demons had come through and set fire to the southernmost area of his land. He knew that, because of the nature of the attack, this trip would take longer than usual. Rin had been invited to come along so that she wouldn't have to be stuck alone with Jaken, but she declined. She had enjoyed going out with Sesshoumaru on his journeys when she was younger, but about three years earlier, she’d found herself becoming bored with them. She could amuse herself easily enough as a child, but now she wanted someone to return her conversation, which Sesshoumaru rarely did and Jaken had always been just plain rude.
'That nasty little toad!’ she would always think to herself. She'd much rather tend to the garden, the habit of which she’d taken up about two years ago, along with sewing and writing in her journal.
Rin raised from her huge, king-size bed and stretched her arms and legs. Today WAS her seventeenth birthday. 'He'd better be home today,' she thought. 'Or I'll make sure he feels extra guilty. I'll cry and pout and say, "But Lord Sesshoumaru, you promised!"'
Rin still used the tactics from her childhood to get what she wanted, as they still proved effective.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sesshoumaru made this journey alone. His usual traveling companion, Jaken, was ordered to say behind to mind after Rin. Sesshoumaru knew that this trip would be long and treacherous, so he didn't want to leave her alone, for the fear that the demons would come after her knowing that the Lord was gone.
He had expected to arrive a few days sooner, but on his way back he remembered a small village that was located near the south eastern boundary of his land. He had sent Jaken there many times to buy clothing for Rin when she was younger. The maker had done a good job in pleasing the child. But since Rin had learned to sew a few years back, they had only bought fabric from the human woman. Rin would often go to the village with Jaken by her side and pick out her own fabrics. The woman had also been so kind as to teach Rin some of her special techniques.
With his decision made, Sesshoumaru made his way toward the village. Once there, he sought out the woman from the other villagers as they quaked with fear. Usually the powerful Lord would have taken pride and amusement in this, but now he was very annoyed. He had no time for their fear and pleading for him not to harm them. He had a deadline to meet.
As Sesshoumaru looked through all the beautiful fabrics and trinkets the woman possessed in her shop, she questioned, "My Lord, if you would like, I could aid you in selecting your gifts for dear Rin."
Sesshoumaru turned fast on his heels and stared the woman straight in the face with a scowl of warning on his own. "What do you know of Rin, wench?” he demanded of her.
"Well, Lord," she stated, trying to hide the shake in her obvious frightened voice, "Rin comes in here often and I have grown accustomed to her sense of style. I have to say that she is my best customer. Very courteous and kind, and speaks of her Lord often. Only good things, mind you."
'Of course this woman would know Rin. She came to this village at least once or twice a month to get supplies and such for years,' he thought. 'Why have I become so defensive?'
"Oh, of course," he stated with his signature, expressionless face.
The woman smiled at him warningly, showing small lines at the corners of her mouth and forehead, giving away her age of almost thirty-eight. But, she was still a very attractive woman with a great sense of style as she was dressed in a very extravagant kimono. She smelled of wild flowers and her shop was very well kept. It was obvious to anyone in the pride she had in both her appearance and her shop.
Sesshoumaru gave her a slight nod, showing his approval for her previous offering.
"Very well, Lord. My name is Sujin. What may I help you with?"
"Rin's birthday is today and I wish to present her with something special."
"Ah, I see. And how old is our Lady? I would guess eighteen?"
"Seventeen."
"Oh, well that is a very special age indeed. As you can see, I have a large assortment of fabrics in many different styles, colors, and textures. I have my specialty kimonos that are hand stitched by myself in only my most elegant of fabrics. I also have a case of the finest jewelry in these lands." She motioned toward the case in the right-hand corner of the shop.
Sesshoumaru lingered in the shop for an hour or more, selecting many different fabrics, kimonos, and even the jewelry all without a second thought. All of his purchases filled two large bags. Sujin thanked the Lord graciously. Sesshoumaru also stopped by a small bake shop and selected some sweets for Rin before continuing on his journey home. As he departed the village, he noticed that they sky was growing dusk. He couldn't believe that he had spent so much time in the human merchant village. 'I'll never get the smell off of me,' he frowned to himself.
After Sesshoumaru finally reached home after being away for a month a feeling of contentment washed over him. As he had predicted, his loyal servant Jaken ran out of the large castle as fast as his tiny legs could carry him.
"Milord! Thank heavens you've finally returned!! The human has been driving me mad, asking if you have arrived every five seconds!!!"
She missed him. This made Sesshoumaru smile inside as he couldn't deny that he had missed her as well.
"Distract her Jaken. At least until I can get these things inside without her knowledge."
Jaken eyed the two large bags with wonderment and envy. 'Just how much did Lord Sesshoumaru spend on this human wench?'
"Yes, Lord Sesshoumaru, but she won't be so easily distracted by me. She longs to see you, so I shall sneak through the back and put the bags in her quarters."
"Very well.”
Jaken snatched the bags from the two-headed beast and scuttled around toward the back kitchen entrance.
Sesshoumaru straightened his robes and he entered his home, preparing for the usual attack from his little Rin. As he crossed the threshold, he was surprised she wasn't standing there to greet him as she usually was. Rin had a kind of a sixth sense when it came to knowing when her Lord had returned.
'She must be upset with me for returning so late on her birthday, a day that is so special to her.'
But then he caught her sweet scent in the air and he inhaled deeply, trying to take in all of it. She smelled of a rose in spring grass, and a sweet cinnamon that increased when she got angry, upset, or flushed. He stood fast, trying not to move and make a sound. 'Will she sense me?'
He heard her bare feet clop against the hard wood floor in the eastern hall. Then there was silence.
"Jaken, is that you? Are you there?" There was no answer.
He heard her step forward a few more feet and stop once again. Then he heard her shrill cry.
"My Lord!? Lord Sesshoumaru!"
With that, he smiled and took two steps forward, listening to the patter of her feet as she raced down the hall and breathing in her scent as it wafted toward him. She turned the corner and abruptly stopped about ten feet in front of him. Her long raven locks came to rest on her shoulders, and fell down to the small of her back. Her big, brown eyes seemed to stare right through him and he noticed she had no expression on her womanly face.
Sesshoumaru felt a small ping in the center of his chest.
'Oh my, she is beautiful! I try to convince myself that she's still just my little Rin, but she is clearly no longer "little."'
She was taller than most human girls her age, he noticed. She stood a proud 5'7" tall, and her breasts were also larger than most. Her waist was lean and her hips and bottom were rounded. 'Good hips for bearing children,' he thought to himself.
For what seemed like an eternity to him, they stood looking at each other. 'Why is she just standing there, looking at me that way?'
'Oh my goodness, he's so beautiful!’ Rin thought to herself. 'I'd almost forgotten.'
She could feel the tingling heat rush up from her chest to her neck and cheeks. 'Oh no, I'm blushing! I can't believe this! I have to do something so he doesn't notice.'
She suddenly broke the awkward glare between them by raising her hands from her sides and putting them together in front of her neck and slowly began to bow her head.
"Greetings, Lord Sesshoumaru. I'm glad to see you've made it home unharmed."
'Of course he's unharmed you half-wit! He's the most powerful demon within thousands of miles!' she silently scolded herself.
She rose back up and couldn't help the smile that spread across her pale face. She had to run to him. She no longer cared that she was too old for this, and had been for many years. She had to show her affection and adoration toward her Lord. She ran toward him at full force with her arms outstretched and the beautiful smile still lingering on her soft pink lips.
'Here she comes. This is what I had been expecting.'
He stood his ground as he waited for the impact.
