Torn between two brothers.
Disclaimer: I do not own Inu Yasah but OIY do I want his brother.
It was a cold morning in Feudal Era Japan and Kagome opened her eyes to the rising sun. She marveled at how quiet this world could be compared to her world. Even in the early morning, Tokyo was always buzzing with life, but here with her friends still napping it seemed that the sunset was just for her. She snuggled into her bedding and sighed; she was so warm and hated the idea of getting up and moving around, she could all ready feel the cold bite at her face.
Her tranquil moment was squashed when a familiar voice broke in "Oiy! It's about time you woke up." Inu Yasha was always an early riser, Kagome could only remember a hand full of times that she ever even saw him sleep when the others were awake.
"Good morning Inu Yasha." she replied as she slowly brought herself into a sitting position. "How did you sleep?"
Inu Yasha looked at her dangerously as if she were covered by scorpions. Kagome could only gape at him as he slowly approached her sniffing often and wrinkling his nose in disgust. Kagome blinked 'Could my breath be that bad?!' she thought internally as she put a hand over her mouth and breathed lightly. 'Nope seems fine.' she thought. She raised her head to ask Inu Yasha what was the matter when she was stopped short, with his intense gaze only an inch from her face. Kagome stared into his golden eyes for a moment and attempted to speak, Inu Yasha however beat her to it.
Grabbing her wrist and pulling her hand away from her mouth he sniffed her again. "You smell funny." He said in a very soft tone.
Kagome was enraged 'He couldn't just say good morning!' Her face grew warm and her ears began to burn as her anger grew and swelled up until finally she crossed her arms a crossed her chest and with a very cold expression yelled. "SIT!"
Inu Yasha immediately plummeted to the ground head first, his arms twitching in pain as the spell bound him to the ground. "Oiy! Kagome! What was that for?"
Kagome fumed, "It's too early for you to be this rude, baka!" She sniffed at her clothing "I may not be the freshest, first thing in the morning, but I can't imagine why you would feel the need to throw it up in my face like that." She climbed out of her sleeping bag letting the cold air now bite at her legs and stomped over to her bag to grab her bathing accessories.
Inu Yasha grumbled slowly bringing himself up to sit with his legs crossed against the cold/wet ground as the new sunrise slowly melted away the morning dew. "I SAID you smelled funny, not bad." he stated matter-of-factly.
Kagome stopped and let her temper subside for a moment, looking up she noticed he had a strange look on his face. She couldn't quite describe it, he seemed obviously confused, annoyed definitely, and something else she couldn't quite put her finger on. She stopped rummaging through her bag, "Funny how?" Inu Yasha blinked once, tilting his head slightly as if her question was a very difficult one to answer. He slowly rolled up on his haunches, creeping up to her just as he had done before, sniffing at the air, crinkling his nose, not in disgust but in confusion it seemed.
Kagome froze as the hanyou approached her, slowly sniffing at her hands which still held a change of clothes for the bath she had planned on. He sniffed up her arm, taking deeper and deeper breaths, reaching out and grabbing her hair, he lightly brought it to his face as if to inspect it.
"What happened to you last night?" He asked softly, his mouth so close to the side of her face that she could feel his warm breath in contrast to the cool morning air. "What do you mean?" She blinked. "You smell different." He whispered, his eyes glazed over and staring at the hair still in his hand, he gently sniffed at it.
Kagome still did not move, her body tense and her heartbeat rapidly rising at the tenderness in his voice, while he cradled the silky tresses. "Nothing new." was all she could squeak as she began to fumble with her words. "I ...uh....made dinner...and we uh....well you know, the normal everyday things. Inu Yasha is every thing allri...." She stopped as Inu Yasha began rubbing his cheek in her hair lightly purring. She gasped and toppled over, catching herself with her elbows as she fell back, retreating from Inu Yasha's strange advances.
Inu Yasha seemed almost in a haze as he continued to advance, slowly crawling over her, bringing his gaze to meet hers. He nuzzled his face into the curve of her neck, sending shivers down her spine. Finally Kagome was able to put together some semblance of thought. 'WHAT THE HELL?!?!' her mind raged. Here was Inu Yasha, the boy that she had wanted more then anything to notice her, and here he was finally noticing, but why...what had changed?' She didn't get a change to vocalize her question. Her mind was set blank again as she felt warm lips hovering above hers. "Kagome.." was all the seemingly drunk hanyou whispered before lowering his head to let their lips press.
Kagome's eyes widened at this sudden advance, but she shortly melted as she felt her body tingle under his touch and wrapped her arms around his neck. She snaked fingers through the silvery hair as she had always wanted to and began to return his kiss. Kagome's body grew warm and ached as Inu yasha ran his hands over her body, slipping a hand under her shirt and letting his claws play with the lacy fabric underneath. She felt one of his hands begin to tug at her skirt and her mind screamed. 'Am I going to do this? What the hell is going on? Did I miss something?' before she had a chance to ask any of the questions that were plaguing her, their moment was interrupted by the sound of a petrified kit.
"Inu Yasha?! What are you doing to Kagome-san?" Shippo yelped only two feet away from the panting couple. Inu Yasha looked at the kit as if annoyed and then at Kagome. 'What had I been doing?' he thought internally. Slowly prying him free of her body and sitting again cross-legged on the ground. "Keh!" was all he would say and he crossed his arms and made an annoyed face.
Kagome watched as Inu Yasha seemed to slowly snap back into reality. Looking over to the shocked kit she smiled warmly and lifted the hand that STILL had the change of clothes in it for her bath. "Inu Yasha thinks I smell bad." she said, not really sure herself what had just transpired, "so I'm going to go take a bath." She looked down at her shirt and realized it was pushed halfway up and pushed it back down, a deep red gracing her face.
Shippo made a face that told her this didn't really explain what they were doing when he began to sniff as well. He jumped in her lap sniffing at her hands. "You do smell different!" He chirped and sniffed some more. "Not bad though, kinda like flowers maybe? or cookies? or chocolate?" Shippo couldn't quite place the smell.
"Well at any rate," Kagome interrupted " a bath sounds good." She grabbed at her bathing accessories and began marching over to the nearby hot spring. She noticed Inu Yasha's ears twitch and lay flat against his head as she headed toward the hot spring. She decided it would probably be best NOT to bring up what just happened and simply said. "I'll be back shortly." and kept on walking. Kagome took a deep breath as she walked further from the hanyou, it wasn't that his actions scared her, but her own that made her a little unsettled.
As soon as Kagome was out of site Shippo walked over to Inu Yasha. "Why does Kagome smell so good?" He asked Inu yasha. Inu Yasha did not answer the kit and instead began to ponder this question on his own. He sensed his companions begin to wake and he grunted out, "Watch the run bef before jumping off into the trees for some much needed pondering.
"What did we miss?" Sango asked as she stretched and turned toward the now abandoned Shippo. Shippo shrugged, "I think they were fighting again." Mirkou stoic as ever chimed in "It' s too early for such things." Sango nodded and nudge the little kit for more info. "What were they fighting about?" Shippo smiled, "Whether or not Kagome needed a bath I think, Inu Yasha said she smelled bad." "Ah that would do it." Miroku nodded as he wondered silently how Inu Yasha could be so blatantly insensitive sometimes. Shippo nodded "Yeah, Kagome was pretty mad, they were all grunting and wrestling." Sango's eyes grew wide. "Wr-wresting?"
