Koga's Chance

Chapter 1 – A Chance

Kagome sat at her desk studying for a math
test.  She was getting tired of always being pressured to study for exams since
she had been romping around the feudal era.  It seemed like there was a test
every time she came home!  She could not focus on the algebra equations in front
of her, instead her mind wandered to a certain half-demon that she traveled
with, Inuyasha.

Dumb dog!  What’s wrong with him anyway?
Can’t he see that I love him and would do anything for him…but no…he’s got to be
all hung up on K…and…and she wants to drag him to hell.
Kagome was
frustrated with Inuyasha since he had been constantly going back and forth about
who he wanted to be with and it seemed she was always the one getting pushed
aside.

If only he’d give me a chance, he’d realize
just how much better it would be with me!  I’m not asking him to go to hell.
Kagome sighed and shut her math book.  “I’m so tired I think I will go to
sleep now.” The cat meowed in response to her and she slid under her covers and
flipped off the light.  After her test in the morning she would return to hunt
for the jewel shards with Inuyasha and their companions.

While Kagome slept she had a wonderful dream
about love, romance, sex and fun.  She smiled in her sleep and hugged her pillow
close.  “Oh Koga…”  she murmured.  When she woke up she hazily remembered the
dream, but was in such a hurry to get to school that she did not give it much
thought.  It was not until she finished the last question on the test that the
dream resurfaced.  Oh what a lovely dream I had last night!  Sigh…I was so
happy, it gave me a warm feeling when I woke up, I’m so glad I dreamed of
Inuyasha…wait…I didn’t dream of Inuyasha…I dreamt about Koga!

Kagome was so shocked when she realized her
warm and fuzzy dream had been about Koga, not her precious Inuyasha.  After
school she rushed home so she could return to the feudal time.  She had been
pondering her dream all day and had been thinking of Koga.  Koga is nice,
protective, and he knows what he wants…he’s not all wishy-washy like Inuyasha.
He’s really hot too…and what a body!  He’s been so patient with me while I’ve
stupidly waited for Inuyasha to make up his mind…Koga…

After organizing her backpack and saying
goodbye to her family, Kagome jumped through the shrine well.  Once she pulled
herself out of the well she hesitated before heading to the village where
Inuyasha, Shippo, Sango, and Miroku would be waiting for her.  Maybe I should
find Koga.  I’d like to see him since I’ve been thinking about him all day.

However, her thoughts were interrupted by a slightly irritated half-demon who
bounced out of the trees.

“What the hell took you so long?”  Inuyasha
demanded.

“Oh, hello to you too.”  Kagome tilted her nose
up a bit trying to ignore him.

“Well, let’s go, hurry up.”  Inuyasha grabbed
her pack and her arm tugging her toward the village.

Oh well, guess I’ll look for Koga later.

*~*

That night Kagome had another dream about
Koga.  Inuyasha had been staying in the house because it was raining and noticed
when Kagome started fidgeting in her sleep.  “Oh…Koga…” she whispered and rolled
over.  Inuyasha’s eyes bugged open as he tensed up, Feh, is she dreaming
about that damn wolf mutt?  Well I’ll have to do something about that…
He
crept over to her curled up form on the floor and lightly poked at her side.
“Kagome…wake up.”  He whispered as not to wake the others.  When she only
mumbled but did not open her eyes he nudged her harder.  “Kagome!”

            “What..what I’m up…I’m up.”  Her eyes fluttered
open and focused on Inuyasha’s head hovering over her face.  “What is it
Inuyasha, I’m trying to sleep?”  She was only half awake and annoyed he had
bothered her.  “You were having a bad dream, I wanted to wake you up.”  He
smiled pretending to be the hero.

“No I wasn’t.”  His smile drooped.

“Yes you were.”  Now he was irritated.

“No, I was having a very nice dream and if you
don’t mind I’d like to go back to it.”  With that she turned away from him and
pulled the blanket up to her chin.  Inuyasha grumbled and went back to his
sleeping spot.  A nice dream huh?  Well whatever, she can dream about
whatever she wants, I know she doesn’t want that wolf loser anyway.

*~*

In the morning the gang stared
out the door watching the rain pour down.  “Well, I guess we aren’t going
anywhere today.” Miroku stated.  “No, we’ll stay put for today, no point in
getting soaked if we don’t have to.”  Inuyasha stood with Miroku.

Sango and Kagome went to sit by
the fire while the guys continued talking and staring at the drenched
countryside.  “Um Sango?”  Kagome wanted to ask Sango a favor.  “Would it be
okay if I took Kirara today, I have something I want to do?”  Sango was a little
surprised at Kagome’s request because of the rain but agreed to it.  “Where are
you going if you don’t mind me asking?”  Sango was very curious.

“Well, you can’t tell Inuyasha
but…” she dropped her voice to a whisper, “I’m going to see Koga.”  Sango smiled
and turned to make sure Inuyasha had not heard that with his keen dog ears.
Luckily he was rattling on about something and not paying attention to
them.

“Koga huh?”  Sango giggled and
Kagome blushed.

“Yes, I just need to talk to him
is all, I’ll be back before dinner.  I’ll tell Inuyasha I’m going home for
lunch.”

“Good luck, you’ll have to fill
me in on the details of what this is all about later.”  They both giggled and
Kagome got ready to leave.

*~*

Inuyasha had not paid much
attention when she left assuming she was going home because of the weather.  As
she rode on Kirara she tried to keep dry with a rain slicker she had put in her
backpack for such occasions.  She did not really have time to travel all the way
to Koga’s den, so she was hoping he would pick up on her scent and find her
first.

She did not have to wait very
long because Koga kept true to his pattern and called out to her about an hour
after she had left.  “KAGOME!”  She looked down to see him waving and told
Kirara to land.  Koga helped her off the cat demon and pulled her under a tree
to keep out of the rain.

“Hi Koga!”  Kagome eagerly
smiled.  He looked so cute even though he was drenched from the rain.

“Kagome!  What brings you out
here all by yourself?  I don’t smell that mutt with you.”

“Oh, yeah, I’m alone.  Actually,
I came to see you.”  Koga was taken back by what she said, She came to see
me, wow…wonder what that stupid dog did to her now?
  He grabbed her hands
and pulled them both down to sit against the tree.

“Me huh?&nbAnd And what do I owe this
great honor my Kagome?”  His grin reached ear to ear and Kagome knew he was
pleased she had sought him out.  “Well I wanted to see you…I’ve been thinking
about you a lot lately.”  She blushed a little and Koga glowed with the
compliment.

“Really?  Not about that mutt?”
Koga was never afraid to talk to her about anything and prodded her fishing for
more compliments.  “No, not about Inuyasha.  Just about you.  I…I wanted to talk
to you about us, if there is an ‘us’, or if there could be an us.”  Kagome was
flustered and embarrassed as she did not have the confidence that Koga did in
t sit situations.

“Of course there’s an ‘us’, you
are my woman remember?”  Koga squeezed her hand.  “I remember, but I was hoping
we could spend some time together…before I become your woman and what not.”
Koga looked at her a little confused.  “For what?”

“To get to know each other, I
mean, where I’m from people spend time getting to know each other before
they…you know…mate for life.”  Now she was really blushing.  She’s so pretty
when she blushes…and I can’t believe she’s saying all this to me, dog boy must
have really screwed up big time!  Good for me, bad for him.
Koga was almost
giddy from their talk so far and scooted closer to Kagome so he could wrap his
arm around her shoulders.  He knew she must be cold from the rain and wanted to
keep her warm.

“Thank you Koga, you are very
sweet.”  Kagome snuggled into his arm.  “I would be honored to spend time
getting to know you better Kagome...but I do have a question?  Why do you want
to do this all the sudden?”  Kagome at looked him, into his brilliant blue eyes,
and responded, “I realized that I have never given a c a chance, and you deserve
one.  I am giving you the chance that Inuyasha never gme bme because I don’t
want to be like him.  Plus…you’re really hot!”  Okay now I’m really
embarrassed!  Why did I have to tell him he’s hot?
Kagome was nervous about
what she said but Koga took the initiative and kissed her lightly on the cheek.

“I’m glad you are giving me a
chance, because I have wanted it for so long.  I won’t let you down Kagome…I
promise.”  They both smiled at each other.  They spent the afternoon together
and had gone on a long walk after the rain had let up.  Koga held her hand and
spent the time paying attention to her and asking her a lot of questions about
her life and where she was from.  They made a picnic date for the next day,
Kagome would bring the food and Koga would bring a fur pelt to sit on.

“Just one thing Koga…I haven’t
told Inuyasha about my decision since it isn’t any of his business.  So please
don’t say anything if you see him until I get a chance to.  He wouldn’t believe
it unless I told him.”  Koga agreed and put Kagome back on Kirara so she could
return to the village before dark.  Oh my, oh my…Kagome will finally be
mine!
Koga shook his hips and butt around in a victory dance before
speeding off to his den.
