A/N: This takes a couple of years after Sesshomaru picks up Rin. She's a little bit taller, but there's really no difference in the characters.

Sesshomaru and the small group walked down the old dirt path. Trees cascaded over it, shading them from Autumn sun. Rin and Jaken walked with Ah-Un, while the demon lord walked in front, leading them. He looked to be lost in thought, when a figure appeared ahead of him.

At first, he didn't know what was. But as it came closer, he could make it out to be a human. The smell as told him that it was indeed a 'she'. She was clad in a bright red top that buttoned down the right side. Sheo woo wore white pants with a sort of calf length skirt that draped in front and back-it was also red. The woman was holding onto a straw hat that hid her face, and a pack was slung over shoulder.

Sesshomaru stopped and watched as she brushed pass them with quite a speed, especially for a human. Her long, brown braided hair flowed behind. She had been moving to fast for him to catch a glimpse of her face or any details about her appearance. He continued to watch as she made her way down the path. Suddenly, she cut off into the woods, throwing her hat in the opposite direction. Sesshomaru wondered what the story was behind the woman and her actions.

Rin and Jaken said nothing as they watched the figure, and then turned to look at their master. He started to walk again, and Rin took one last glance behind her shoulder before catching up with them.

It wasn't long before the small group had figured out why the woman had been running. Soon after walking back down the path, a large group of men from a village came running towards them. Sesshomaru had motioned for Rin to come stand beside him.

"You! Demon!" one man on a horse directed to Sesshomaru. "Have you seen a human woman run by here? She was in red and carried precious jewels from our village!" Sesshomaru merely looked over the crowd. A couple of them were on horses while the rest were on foot carrying weapons and a couple flags.

Jaken stepped forward. "How dare you talk to Lord Sesshomaru in that manner!" The small demon put his staff in front of him. "You lonely demons will not ask the questions around here!" Jaken stood firm, ready for any sort of fight. The humans were already mad enough.

Sesshomaru stepped in before anything happened. "She went down the path, then cut off into the woods somewhere," he said monotoned. "No leave us alone." With that, one of the men on the horses a o a out a command, and they hurried on their way. Sesshomaru started walking again also.

***************

Auko (pronounced A-u-ko...sounds just like the letter) ran the woods. Hopefully she had put enough distance between them that they hadn't seen her throw the hat. Her bright red outfit stuck out in the green so she jumped behind some bushes. She could still see the road through the trees. They were a big group so they she shouldn't miss them. In less than a minute, Auko saw the group show up. The stopped when they saw hat most likely. To her relief they took off in that direction.

Silently, she pushed herself off the ground and continued to run. Once she felt that she had put enough distance between them, she put her fingers to her mouth and whistled. Soon afterwards, a flash of silver came towards her. It was her demon wolf, Tork.

Sesshomaru stopped right where he stood. It was faint, but he definitely heard a high pitched whistle. His instincts told him to go to the call, but they also told him the call wasn't for him. When he looked, he saw that the sun was starting to set over the horizon. He led the small group to a stream bank.

"Jaken," commanded Sesshomaru, "start setting up camp. You and Rin find some food."

"Where are you going lord?" asked the small green demon. Sesshomaru did not respond to the question and walked off. Rin watched from her place by the stream where Ah-Un was drinking. She knew better than to ask questions she shouldn't. Rin just went on petting the two-headed dragon and stroking its mane.

Sesshomaru headed back in the direction they had come from, but a little right. Something about the events from earlier had intrigued him and he wanted to know more. Once he was out of sight from the camp, he started at a mad dash. He wanted to catch her before it became to dark and she left or went to sleep.

With his speed, he soon caught drift of her scent. It intertwined with that of a wolf demon. Since he didn't smell any blood, he figured that the demon had not eaten her. Following this new scent, he took off, now going completely to right, instead of in his diagonal.

It seemed to Sesshomaru that the wolf had actually been a ride, for he ran until the sun just barely peaked out over land. Finally though, he coule the the glow of a fire. And the scents he had been following got stronger. As he neared, the faint sound of piccolo met his ears. He stopped behind a bit pine tree where he had a good view of both figures. He studied them.

Like he thought, there was a giant wolf demon laying by the fire. He was silver, with a big white furry neck. His nose and eyes brown. Sesshomaru could figure that he quite dangerous when he needed to be. He then looked at the woman. She had to be in her early 20's. Her long braid of thick brown hair lay across one of her breast. Her eyes were closed and her lips kissed the piccolo sas pas playing. The wolf watched her as she played a soft melody.
