Chapter 1: The Change

The so called ‘Birds of Paradise’ were dead. Their name is misleading however, they were simply harpies. The Shikon hunting group was now back on the trail of Naraku. InuYasha had been silent ever since Kagome told InuYasha not to kill Koga. He couldn’t understand it. Kagome was part of HIS pack, yet she went to help Koga like she was Koga’s mate, Kagome went to her time and went on dates with Hojo and then she helped him, InuYasha the rest of the time. It was like she could not decide which guy she wanted. He could not understand why Kagome did not realize that she was part of InuYasha’s pack, not Koga’s, not Hojo’s, she was InuYasha’s.

InuYasha was thinking hard. Why can’t that bitch realize that she is mine? Mine to mate with. Mine to give up. Mine to punish. Yet she continues to run off with other males. It just sickens me. What makes this worse is that not even Miroku is this bad when it comes to women. He at least asks them before messing with their hearts. Kagome on the other hand. . . InuYasha’s thoughts constantly went on like this until they set up camp.

Kagome looked at InuYasha, he was seriously depressed. If InuYasha was showing his emotions, then he was in very dire straights. Kagome was about to go over to InuYasha to force it out of him when he stood up. InuYasha unhooked the Tetsusaiga from his belt and walked over to Miroku.

“Miroku, I will be back for this,” once InuYasha said that, the great sword was placed in the monks lap. InuYasha then jumped from tree to tree, he needed to get away and think this through.

At the camp however, Kagome was near tears. InuYasha had just left them like that. He left his sword, the one thing he prized the most, in the monk’s care. At least he will be back for his sword, Kagome thought. Looking over at Miroku and Sango, Kagome saw understanding in their eyes as they looked to where InuYasha went. They know what is going on, Kagome thought.

Kagome then spoke up, “Sango, Miroku, I can tell you know what is up with InuYasha. Now tell me!” Kagome’s face and tone left no space for argument.

Miroku and Sango looked at each other in fear, neither wanted to tell her, it was InuYasha’s place. There were problems though, InuYasha just left, Kagome was pissed and both were afraid of her.

Miroku was the one that spoke, “InuYasha has personal issues to deal with.”

Kagome saw the truth in this, but Miroku was not telling the whole truth. “What personal issues,” Kagome asked calmly.

Miroku shivered, she was too calm. “It has to do with you, Kagome.”

“Tell me what it has to do with me.”

“I’m not telling. If you want to know, ask InuYasha,” Miroku replied as he began to scoot further from Kagome.

Kagome looked at the hentai monk with a fiery glare as she walked over to Kilala. The fire cat jumped into Sango’s lap and tried to hide in her master’s kimono. Kagome saw this and grabbed the fire cat by the scruff of its neck and held her face to her own. Kagome then spoke, “Kilala, you will take me to InuYasha or you will regret it.”

Kilala then transformed as Kagome held on. Once Kilala was transformed, Kagome climbed onto Kilala’s back and they were off.

InuYasha ran through the forest, jumping from tree to tree, until he came to a sandy river bank. InuYasha sat down there to think. What am I going to do? Kagome keeps running off with so many males. I want to be with her, but she keeps running from me. She constantly sits me, yells at me, runs from me, and more. Kagome also comes back, apologizes, heals me, takes care of me, and wont stop me from wishing to be a full youkai. Kagome also thinks that I still long after Kikyou. I don’t, I long for Kagome. Plus, Kagome thinks that I KikyKikyou when I look at her, I don’t. When I look at Kagome I see Kagome, no one else. This is so confusing.

InuYasha then started to think over the most recent events with those harpies. Koga said that Kagome was his mate and Kagome refused. Kagome then started to help Koga making Koga think she was his mate. Kagome is so naïve not to see this. She is also so naïve that she does not notice she is a part of MY pack. Then there is the fact that when Koga was hurt, I was forbidden from finishing off Koga. That just makes Koga believe that Kagome WANTED to be his mate. Still, Kagome does not see this.

InuYasha continued to think about what he could do. I could take Kagome’s shards, throw her down the well and seal this end. I could just kill myself and give the Tetsusaiga to Sesshomaru. I can just put up with this. I can just leave and try to kill Naraku my self. That could work. Ok, I’m going to go back to the camp, take my Tetsusaiga and leave.

With that decided InuYasha stood up and turned to go back to camp. But he saw something that he did not want to see, Kagome riding on Kilala to him. Once they landed and Kagome was off, Kilala took off and headed in the direction of their camp. Kagome saw that InuYasha had some tears in his eyes. The tears broke Kagome’s heart as she walked to him.

As Kagome began to step toward the hanyou, InuYasha stepped back. That tore at Kagome’s even more. Kagome then tried to talk to him, “InuYasha-“

He cut her off, “Don’t say a word Kagome. You have made it clear that you don’t want me around. I’m going to get my father’s sword and leave the group. Do what you want, but I am leaving.” With that said InuYasha began to walk away from Kagome.

“Sit,” Kagome quietly said. InuYasha then did a face plant into the ground. However, he did not try to get up, say a word or anything. He just stayed there and cried. Kagome ran over to him and crouched down at his side as she hugged him. InuYasha tried to pull away but Kagome would not let him go. “Tell me what is wrong,” she said.

InuYasha just cried some more as he grabbed hold of Kagome around the waist and cried into her shoulder. He did not know why she was doing this, but he needed to get this out. “Kagome, why do you keep going to other guys?”

This caught Kagome by complete and utter surprise. Is that what he thinks?! No wonder he has been so quiet, Kagome thought. She then spoke up, “InuYasha, I just think of them as friends, nothing more.”

InuYasha then began to sniff as more tears dripped from his eyes. “You say that I am a friend, yet you keep running away from me,” InuYasha said.

Oh goddidndidn’t know he thought that. Kagome then spoke again, “InuYasha.” She did not know what to say or do. Then she did something she had wanted to for a while. Kagome grabbed InuYas hes head and pulled him into a soft, loving kiss, her first kiss.

InuYasha almost pushed her away before he began to kiss back. After a few minutes they pulled apart to get some air. InuYasha looked at the young miko before asking, “Why did you kiss me?”

Kagome looked InuYasha in the eyes as she spoke, “I wanted too, besides you needed it.”

InuYasha did not know what to think. Did she care for him as if he was more than a friend? Did she just do that out of pity? What about Koga and that Hobo guy?

Kagome saw this and spoke up, “I love you InuYasha.”

Kagome smiled into the kiss, she could tell that InuYasha felt the same way. As the pulled apart again she had to ask. “InuYasha, do you love me?”

InuYasha smiled softly and spoke, “I do lyou.you.”

Kagome smiled and kissed him again. As they pulled apart this time Kagome asked something that had been bugging her, “Why did you run off InuYasha?”

He sighed and explained. He told Kagome how their group was a pack, he was the leader, she was a member of his pack yet she left whenever she got the chance and how he felt about it. Kagome was in shock, she never thought InuYasha felt or viewed things this way. Kagome then held InuYasha close as she began to apologize for everything she unknowingly did to him.

InuYasha thought he was going to cry for joy, she loved him so much that she was apologizing. He pushed her back so that he could look at her face. Once he did, she was looking at him as tears continued to stream down her face. He looked at her and smiled. InuYasha leaned forward and began to lick Kagome’s tears away.

Kagome smiled at his ministrations, they felt good. Once her tears were gone, InuYasha pulled back. Kagome looked him in the eyes. She then leaned forward and gave InuYasha a lick on the cheek.

InuYasha then decided to explain, “Kagome, do you know what you did?” Kagome shook her head. “You just asked me to be you mate. I licked you to calm you down. When the light faded, InuYasha felt different. Looking down, he saw that he had marks on the backs of his wrists, two parallel golden stripes in the same fashion of his half brother’s stripes. InuYasha then looked down his haori and saw two more golden stripes, one on each collar bone. InuYasha also noticed a 3 foot long bushy silver tail coming out of his lower back. He did not know how else he changed, but he could tell that he was now a full youkai.

InuYasha then looked at Kagome. The young miko in his arms changed as well. She was a full youkai herself, a neko-youkai. Her ears moved to the top of her head, they were triangular like his, but feline in nature. Kagome’s hair changed, it stayed the same color but lengthened to her waist. Her eyes were now that of a cat’s and the same brown color. Kagome also had a vertical stripe under each eye going down to mid cheek. Kagome turned around and saw InuYasha already in the bag waiting for her. Kagome softly smiled at her mate, he could be so sweet, cute and loving at times. Shippou had heard InuYasha’s explanation last night before he went to bed, but he did not know how he got in Sango’s sleeping bag. Kagome found that she was now as fast and as strong as InuYasha, and she loved it. Once they were a good distance away, they stopped. Kagome then spoke, “What do we need to talk about?”

InuYasha looked at her and answered, “Pups.”

Kagome was shocked but understood why. She walked over to her mate and pushed him onto the ground and sat in his lap with her legs straddling him. She wrapped her arms around his shoulders and InuYasha sat up. Kagome looked into his eyes and spoke, “Explain.”

“You are not pregnant, yet. The second either of us go into heat, we won’t be able to resist each other and you will become pregnant, but only if you are in heat. What concerns me is if you get pregnant before Naraku is dead and the jewel is completed. Naraku would no doubt use our pup against us and a pup would be a liability while we search for the jewel shards. After that is done we can have all the pups we want.”

Kagome understood this, but she also knew that they would not be able to resist each other for more than a couple of days. She thought deeply before looking at her mate. “I think I know of something that could help us. It will allow us to ‘mate’ as you call it, and not have to worry about me getting pregnant until it is safe. Its called ‘Birth Control’.”
