Shippo slowly moved with the fire and with such grace that it left Choukichi open mouthed at the beauty of the dance. He had never witnessed it before. The flames were dancing around Shippo and then flowing out like long blue ribbons. Then suddenly the flames dispersed. It was over.
“So, do you think? Is it good enough?”
Choukichi was about to answer when Sven spoke up.
“You surpassed most fox demons Lord Shippo. It was absolutely perfect.”
Choukichi nodded in agreement.
“You guys are just being nice.”
Choukichi shook his head no.
“It was perfect. Just like you……..”
Choukichi covered his mouth quickly. He didn’t mean to say that out loud.
“I mean…….you did it perfectly as far as I know.”
Shippo blushed a bit as did Sven. Choukichi then got up and walked away before he made a fool of himself even more.
Sven smiled at Shippo.
“I think Choukichi likes you.”
Shippo blushed even more.
“I am in agreement with you, kid, but don’t go telling everyone. Choukichi is bad enough blabbing everything to the world without you doing it too.”
Sven followed his new friend. He wanted to tell Shippo he thought he was the most magnificent person he ever met, but was afraid too much flattery would push his new friend away.
Sesshoumaru came into the courtyard and pulled Shippo away from the other children.
“Shippo come with me.”
Sesshoumaru did not bother to wait as he expected the child to obey him and of course Shippo did however difficult it was to keep up with the long legged man.
Shippo followed Sesshoumaru to where his Uncle Hideharu now stood waiting for him. Shippo was afraid at first, but Sesshoumaru put a hand on his shoulder.
“Do not fear. You have kept your promises and he knows this.”
Shippo swallowed as he stepped forward and Hideharu dropped down to hug the boy. Sesshoumaru halted this action.
“No. Do not touch him yet Hideharu. You must earn that right again.”
Sesshoumaru pulled Shippo back away from the man. Hideharu got up wiping the tears that had fallen. He knew he really messed up.
“Shippo, you are going to stay with the Tashios until they decide to let you come home to me or your Uncle Lin. Do you understand this?”
Shippo wanted to jump for joy, but at the same time he did want to be with his family.
“Can I at least see my cousins and family?”
Sesshoumaru nodded yes not showing any expression of emotion.
“Can Choukichi remain with me here for at least until after the summer?”
Sesshoumaru frowned.
“That will be up to your Uncle Lin and I also do not wish for him to distract you so I am uncertain at this time if that is best for you. We will discuss more about this in private. Now say your goodbye.”
Shippo felt bad that his cousin may not be able to stay, but was glad he was once again going to be around Inuyasha. He missed the old pack and this place felt like home.
“Goodbye Shippo. I will somehow make up for the past, I promise you and then we can have a second chance.”
Hideharu stated smiling until the guards came to take him away.
“Your Uncle is going to be trained here as well, but under strict supervision and by no means are you to have contact with him or he you. Is that understood Shippo?”
Shippo nodded.
“Now that we are alone I need to speak about your cousin with you. You are aware of who you are to mate correct?”
Shippo swallowed thinking about those kisses and then looked into Sesshoumaru’s stern eyes.
“Yes Lord Sesshoumaru, I am to mate Fuu.”
Sesshoumaru nodded.
“Precisely why you must be careful on whom you are associating yourself with as these are indeed times that your actions will be monitored by many. I feel that your relationship with Choukichi might cause your reputation within the court damage because we have shown you favor. I am afraid he may not stay the summer, however until the other children arrive he may stay.”
Shippo sighed in relief. It would be very boring without his best friend here.
“Lord Sesshoumaru, is it wrong for me to kiss Choukichi?”
Sesshoumaru’s eyes went wide. He was not ready to answer such a personal question. Clearing his throat he nodded yes. With that he left abruptly.
