Chapter 9

Tuesday Surprises

Sango smoothed her skirt down with her hands nervously. She knew Koga had a temper and she didn’t know how drunk he was but she knew Kagome must be totally smashed to be setting on his lap like that, letting him fondle any part of her body he wished. With a smile plastered on her face she waltzed up to their table. “Hey there you are.” She said brightly as she walked up to Kagome quickly and gave her a hug.

“Sango, you won’t believe what that jerk did.” Kagome pouted on the verge of tears.

“I know honey.” Sango sympathized wanting to point out what the jerk, whom she was setting on, did to her 3 years ago but held off knowing now wasn’t the time. “Don’t worry about it. I ditched those losers and came looking for you. But I didn’t expect you to be in the company of old friends.” She smiled widely at each of them. “Koga how have you been?” She asked as she hugged him.

“Fine and yourself?” He answered returning her hug.

“Good thank you. Ginta, Hikaku how are you two. Long time no see.” She gave them each a hug but Ginta pulled her down on his lap and wrapped an arm around her waist.

“I’m doing great beautiful now that you’re here.” He smiled up at her drunkenly. She rolled her eyes but hugged him again.

“It’s been a while hasn’t it?” She said as conversation only while trying to get Kagome away from them long enough for the bouncers to do their job. “I’ve been wondering what you guys have all been up to. Staying out of trouble I hope.” She laughed with them when they began joking about some stupid things they did in the last three years but her eyes were on Koga and how his hand kept running up and down Kagome’s thigh toward her short skirt getting higher and higher. Kagome was staring off to one side trying to ignore it but Sango could tell it bothered her. Kagome never did like how touchy-feely Koga got when he was drunk. “So Kagome,” Sango finally said after a few minutes of them joking around. Said girl looked at her with blurry eyes and slow movements. Sango glanced at the table and counted at least six empty glasses that she was sure were Kagome’s along with four empty beer bottles that she knew were Koga’s since he always drank beer. She resisted the urge to frown and smiled brightly at her.

“How’s the birthday so far?” Sango asked happily. Kagome gave her a half smile.

“Started out kind of ruff but I’m working on it.” She shrugged her shoulders and ignored Koga’s hand just below her breast.

“Yeah so I heard.” Sango replied. Koga looked at her and narrowed his eyes.

“You didn’t bring that dick with you did you?” He said lowly. She raised an elegant eyebrow at him then smiled sweetly.

“Nah, I ditched those two losers back at the restaurant.” She picked up Ginta’s beer and took a drink to wet her dry throat. She didn’t want to get into it with Koga in the middle of the bar like this. “I knew if I found Kagome, I would find the real party so here I am.” She grinned back at Koga’s broad smile.

“Yeah we ran into her down at the Nest. I never thought she would ever talk to me again but here she is acting like my woman again. I couldn’t be happier.” He hugged Kagome possessively. Kagome looked down at him and gave him a weak smile.

“Sounds great.” Sango glanced down at the dance floor and spotted Miroku and Inuyasha. Neither looked very happy and she was beginning to get nervous. “Well you look like you need some action sweet thing, let’s dance.” She jumped up and grabbed Kagome’s hand pulling her to her feet. She stopped long enough to look back at Koga. “You coming?” She asked politely with a large smile. He shook his head no and frowned.

“Don’t dance. It’s stupid as far as I’m concerned. But it don’t mean I don’t like watchin you guys move.” He snorted out with a laugh. The other two men joined him and Sango shook her head.

“Oh right, silly me. It has been a while. Ok we won’t be long. Order me a drink would ya?” She pulled on Kagome’s hand and drug her toward the stairs. Kagome followed with out protest until they reached the dance floor. Sango spun her around so she didn’t see Inuyasha coming toward her and began dancing with her. Kagome just stood there with a frown. “Come on Kagome. It’s your birthday. Dance with me.” Sango pleaded as her eyes glanced at Inuyasha who was only a few feet behind her now. Then she looked up at Koga and the others. Koga was watching them with a frown on his handsome face. Her brown eyes looked over at the bouncers who were headed up the stairs to get them. She knew Koga was suspicious of something but it would be too late by the time he figured it out.

“Why should I?” Kagome mumbled so low Sango almost missed.

“Because you want to.” A masculine voice said from behind her as strong arms wrapped around her waist pulling her back into a firm chest. Kagome eyes widened as she gasped with her mouth open. She knew that voice too well and it was the last one she wanted to hear tonight. Her fingers clawed at his hands to make him let go as tears filled her eyes but he relentlessly pulled her away from Sango and farther into the mass of bodies dancing in the crowd.

“Hey asshole! Let go of my woman.” Inuyasha heard over the music. He looked up to see the tall dark haired man who had been putting his hands all over Kagome standing from his chair quickly but just as he was about to jump over the rail, Mike grabbed him and pinned his arm behind his back. Two other bouncers had his friends and they were being escorted out of the club. He didn’t care what they did with the guy. The only thing on his mind at the moment was the struggling girl in his arms. Kagome pinched him hard on the arm.

“Damn it wench that hurt.” He snarled in pain. He grabbed both her wrists and pinned them in one hand before wrapping his free arm around her once again. A tap on his shoulder got his attention. A pretty waitress was standing there holding a key out to him. He looked at her questioningly but she only smiled and pressed it in his hand.

“Go down the hall back there, second door on the left. It’s one of the private rooms. Take her there. I already put coffee, pop, water, and food in it. Try to get her to sober up some then she’ll think straighter.” She smiled and walked away through the crowd. He didn’t waist any more time as he threw Kagome over his shoulder with a squeal and headed toward the hall the waitress indicated. He could barely hold onto her as she squirmed and hit him on the back while he was unlocking the door. Inside he found the room was dimly lit but he could still see all the things the waitress mentioned plainly. He walked in kicking the door shut with one foot in aggravation then tossed Kagome on the couch unceremoniously. She bounced once and pushed off the couch. Immediately she ran for the door.

“Oh no you don’t.” He stepped in her way and locked it quickly. She kicked him in the back of his leg making him yelp. “That’s gonna bruise you bitch.” He picked her up over his shoulder again and hobbled back over to the couch tossing her on it again but this time he held her there with her arms over her head while he straddled her thighs. She squirmed and screeched as much as she could. He tried covering her mouth with his hand but that left her hand free and she commenced in hitting him. “Kagome stop it.” He snapped angrily. But she kept on. He pinned her hand again and she started to scream. He panicked and did the only thing he could think of. He kissed her. At first he was as shocked as she was but he couldn’t resist the sweetness of her lips and deepened it. She started to fight him even harder but as his soft warm lips moved over hers gently her panic and anger began to melt away. Slowly she began to relax and return the kiss as she eyes slid closed. Before she knew it, he broke the kiss and leaned back looking at her.

She opened her teary eyes to find his golden one staring at her sadly. “Sorry.” He mumbled and moved off her. He sat at her feet with his hands on his face while she curled up with her knees under her chin and a deep frown on her lips.

“Yeah sorry.” She said sarcastically and walked over to the bar.

“What do you mean by that?” He looked at her curiously as she scrounged under the top looking for something.

“Is it that bad kissing me that you have to say you’re sorry? I get it already so don’t bother apologizing for it.” She snapped back and slammed the cupboard doors shut in aggravation. “Where’s the damn booze? Aren’t they supposed to keep alcohol in here for customers?” She stormed over to the door and jerked on the knob. When it didn’t open she smacked it hard with her fist. “Ouch!” She cried in pain then hit it again. “All I want is to get drunk.” She snarled as she continued to bang on the door.

“Why is it so damn important for you to get drunk?” Inuyasha stormed over and grabbed her wrists again to keep her from bruising her hands any more. She struggled for a moment but the fight was already leaving her. She leaned her forehead heavily against his chest breathing deeply. Her heart pinching a bit more as she took in the scent of him she had come to love so much.

“I want to forget and just have fun.” She mumbled tiredly.

“Oh I can see you were having a great time with that guy pawing all over you and after what he did to you. Nice way to forget.” He replied snidely.

“It’s hard to tell him no. You don’t understand how it feels to be....” She started as tears filled her eyes.

“Rejected by the one you love? Yeah I know how it feels to be rejected and then all of a sudden that person shows some interest. After waiting for so long and knowing how it feels, you still judged me for my actions. If anyone understands what you’re going through it’s me. Don’t be so quick to judge me until you look at what you do under the same circumstances.” He said more softly. She went limp in his grasp as the tears rolled down her cheeks. He released her wrists and hugged her to his chest. His own tears threatened to fall. Yeah he knew exactly how she felt and he knew what he did to her was unforgivable. That made it even worse. After several moments of holding each other, he smoothed her hair down and kissed the top of her head. “I really am sorry for losing control like that. You see, I know how hard it can be and I’m in no place to judge. Together we can get through this but you have to trust me and I’ll do my best to trust you too.”

She nodded her head but didn’t look at him. “It just caught me by surprise. I was already feeling bad because of the memories. It added to the pain I was dealing with. When I ran into him at that club I was pretty drunk and I have always had a hard time saying no to him. I know Kikyo basically threw herself at you because she is jealous of your gift to me. I’m sorry for making you worry.” She fingered the necklace tenderly. “It really is beautiful.” She looked up at him coyly.

“You ready to go celebrate your birthday for real?” He asked softly.

“I hate my birthday.” She said flatly.

“I know but with the help of Miroku and Sango we’re going to change that starting tonight.” He replied and kissed her on the forehead. “You should go wash your face before we go out there though. You have mascara running down your cheeks.” He chuckled at her look of horror as she ran to the small bathroom just off the room. It wasn’t long before she emerged looking as fresh as she did when they first started the night at her room. He held out his hand to her and after taking it, he unlocked the door with the key then pulled her out into the noisy club to find their friends.

‘Too bright.’ Her mind screamed as she struggled to awareness. ‘Funny, I don’t remember leaving the drapes open.’ She mused as she snuggled down into the warmth of her soft bed more. ‘Mmm....this is so nice.’ She thought as she pulled the comforter closer to her face and inhaled deeply. ‘Funny, why doesn’t my comforter smell like flowers?’ Her mind thought confused. ‘Oh well I’ll wash them today.’ She concluded and rolled over to get away from the bright light. A moan from the pillow at her back made her eyes snap open as something similar to iron bands wrapped around her waist tightly and pulled her forward. When the focus came into her eyes she could see smooth tanned skin that was stretched tightly over a muscular chest. She looked down at herself and realized she was naked and could tell by the feel of his bare skin against hers he was also just as lacking in clothes. She swallowed hard and made herself look up at him again.

Her eyes became even wider as they traveled up to see a very male like Adams apple in a masculine neck. She raised her chin more to look at the strong jaw line that led to soft full lips. Ones she now remembered how they felt against her hot sweaty skin a few hours ago as they made passionate... ‘Oh god.’ She bit her lip as a splash of silver white hair slid over his shoulder to lay against her cheek. She couldn’t help but stare into his peaceful face as he slept. He was so beautiful to her and yet he was the last person she wanted to get this close to. Because in the end she knew she couldn’t have him. Her bottom lip quivered as she fought against the on slot of tears that threatened to fall. Her tearful eyes looked around and saw they were not in her room which offered a little bit of relief knowing she could leave and maybe spare them both the embarrassment of awkwardness that comes with the ‘Morning After’.

Slowly with as much care as she could, she wiggled and squirmed from his grasp until she was free. As quiet as a mouse she gathered her clothes and put them on quickly. She glanced back at his sleeping form just as the first tear slid down her face. Guilt filled her as she remembered how gentle he was. This wasn’t supposed to happen but she knew by the slight pain between her legs that it indeed did happen. She could never have a relationship with him beyond acquaintances after this was all over. He didn’t want her. Another tear followed the first but she wouldn’t change it for anything. If she had to give her virginity to anyone, he was the best choice. He may not remember it in the morning but she knew if he did, he would cherish it because that was the kind of person he was inside not matter what others thought. She backed out of the room and quietly closed the door behind her to make sure she didn’t wake him. She decided to stop in the bathroom on the way to straighten herself before facing the wolves that lived in his building and prayed that her car keys were in her purse. Upon quick inspection she found them there but still couldn’t remember how they actually got to his apartment. She walked slightly backwards, watching his bedroom door as she made her way down the hall to the living room.

“Well hello my siren.” A deep voice said from the kitchen as she tried to creep across to the door out of the apartment. She cringed and turned to look at him sheepishly. “I have to say I’m a bit disappointed.” He half grinned at her nervousness but frowned when a tear slid down her soft cheek.

“Look, Sesshomaru. Don’t say anything about this to him or anyone. We were pretty drunk last night and I think it might be devastating to him if he remembers. I only hope he doesn’t.” Kagome pleaded.

“And why should it bother that idiot? He doesn’t deserve a woman like you in the first place.” He said as he stood and walked over to her. His long fingers brushed the tear away. She lowered her head ashamed.

“It’s not like I forced him that is true but he was pretty drunk and I took advantage of it. He was saving himself for that special someone. That someone isn’t me. If he remembers, I don’t know what I’ll do. Just pretend you didn’t see me this morning or know anything about what happened.” She asked again but he frowned.

“This Sesshomaru doesn’t say falsities to hide things of this sort. Nor do I care about that idiot brother of mine’s finer sensibilities.” He replied harshly.

“Oh no...I would never ask you to lie just don’t say anything if he doesn’t and don’t do it for him. Please, do it for me. I’ll make it up to you somehow.” She pleaded hopefully. He sighed and walked back into the kitchen.

“Very well, for you but you owe me twice now girl. I intend to collect at some time in the future.” He said as he sat down in a huff and picked up the morning paper.

“Thank you I’ll pay you back, promise.” Kagome said with a smile.

“So you have said.” He replied with out looking at her. “Nice necklace by the way.” He added. She placed her hand over the pinkish pendant on the silver chain. Her heart sank as Kikyo’s words ran through her mind again. ‘She told you to give it to someone you really care about.’ Kagome looked down at the floor in despair. Quilt filled her heart even more. Slowly she reached up and removed it from her neck. She walked stiffly over to him and set it on the table in front of him. He looked at her then down at the necklace.

“Could you give that back to him for me after this weekend. I think he will want to give it to someone special in his heart like his mother wanted.” She smiled weakly. He picked it up and tucked it into his pants pocket.

“Consider it done. You should go now unless you want him to catch you here. He’ll be getting up soon.” Sesshomaru took a sip of his coffee and flipped the paper open once more. Kagome nodded more for herself then for him and walked quickly to the door to go home. His eyes followed her until she disappeared out the door.

Inuyasha reached over searching for the warmth that was suddenly missing from his side. His hand found nothing so he lazily opened his eyes wondering where she could have gone. He looked around the room and found nothing seemed to be out of place. He wondered if he had dreamed it. Flopping back on his bed he smiled to himself. That was one hell of a dream if he did but it felt so real. He lifted the covers and looked down at his naked body. That was strange, he never slept naked before. He shook his head and slid out of the covers to find some sweat pants to put on. Groggily he walked to the bathroom to relieve himself then continued to the kitchen where he found Sesshomaru reading the morning paper like usual.

He looked round the room feeling like he was missing something then looked back at the table to see Sesshomaru staring at him intently. “What?” He asked confused.

“Did you lose something?” Sesshomaru asked casually. Inuyasha scratched his head as he walked over to get some coffee.

“Don’t know exactly but something is off.” He answered. “Did you hear anything unusual coming from my room last night?” He asked suddenly. Sesshomaru gave him a contemplative look and frowned.

“Should I have heard something?” He raised an eyebrow. Inuyasha shook his head and stared down at his cup.

“It’s nothing, I gotta go.” Inuyasha said and quickly returned to his room. He would just go over and see what Kagome had to say and that would be that. Just as he was about to put on his jeans his cell phone rang. “Your dime speak while you can.” He said quickly as he began buttoning them.

“Inuyasha?” Came a sobbing female voice. He stopped dressing and frowned.

“Kikyo?” He asked concerned.

“Can you come over? I need you.” She sobbed.

“Yeah I’ll be right there.” He said clicking the cell phone shut. He tossed it on the bed as he hurried to finish getting ready. As quick as he could he grabbed his jacket and ran from his room. Sesshomaru watched curiously as his brother dashed from the apartment. A ringing sound caught his attention making him get up out of curiosity and go find it. To his surprise he found Inuyasha’s cell phone setting on his bed ringing. He looked at the caller ID to see the flashing name of Kagome in bright rainbow colors. He looked down the hall at the door then back at the phone. With a shrug of his shoulders he tossed the phone back on the bed and walked out closing the door behind him.

AN: I think the fight scene (or the lack of) was a bit simple but in the reality of things, if a plan is laid out well, it works well. I’ve worked in a bar and believe me, when well trained bouncers get their hands on you. You are 86ed. Anyway I hope you liked it. I’ll try to update soon.
