Drawing of Lots

A/N: I was really planning on ending it a Kag/Yus pairing, debating now what it should end. I've had a few suggestions but am open to your opinions.

Chapter Nine

Days went by, no one questioning the truth or a lie spoken in haste. Kurama continued to help his stepfather run the family business. Not only did he feel the need to stay with his human mother but now his friend as well. Having told Yusuke the truth along with his wife, things had went down hill for the couple. The ex-detective had accepted his words knowing that he wouldn't forgo the truth just to spare him. Yusuke learned that he had been a father then to learn that he had also lost that child. The news had seemed to hurt him greatly but not as bad as when he heard the new of Kagome's death soon after.

Keiko watched while the man she loved began to shed tears over a woman he'd only known for brief moments. She hadn't wanted to lose him to the girl but not this way. To find that the girl had died giving birth to Yusuke's child was hard even for her. No one deserved to die that way. She could see how it was effecting him as well. It also showed how much the girl had meant to him even if he'd said it to be a one-night stand that had meant nothing.

Kurama checked on them often, keeping in constant contact. He watched as Yusuke became a meer shell of himself. The news of the loss plus being unable to express his grief in the best way he knew how, through violence. He swore to never lose Keiko, he couldn't lose her too. The fox understood the grief and the sacrafice that was being made in order to keep the one he loved.

A year later he was visited by Hiei with news of the new king. Or in this case the new Queen of the Makai. Mukuro had won the tournament, Yomi and Yusuke had been absent from the event. Hiei asked why the boy had declined from entering, saying there hadn't been much of a challenge for him or the other S class youkai. It was questioned why Yomi had not made an appearance as well. Kurama told him of what he'd learned and Hiei simply snorted. The fox asked with faint hope if Hiei had sensed the girl that Yomi had once kept at his side. The hybrid said no but not like he went out of his way to search for her. It was said that Yomi hadn't been seen in months, gone into seclusion. Everyone had been expecting to see him and Shura but neither had turned up to fight.

Kurama was just glad to hear that Mukuro would be enforcing the same laws as Enki had did previously. Instead of three years she stated that the next tournament would take place in four years. To youkai it really wasn't that long of a wait, so no one had disagreed. Unknown to the patient fox it wouldn't be till four years later when the new tournament took place that he'd see not only Hiei but Yomi again.

*Four years later- A week before Third Makai Tournament*

"Are you sure you want to do this Yusuke?" Kurama had the bag on his back, ready to follow the boy. He wasn't planning on entering the tournament but wanted to be there for Yusuke. There wasn't a good chance that he'd win over Mukuro and a few others but he was determined to go this time. He knew the deciding factor lay on his marriage, or lack of one. Him and Kuwabara had both watched as the couple slowly grew apart. Years of letting something eat at them was killing their trust and love. Kurama knew that Yusuke had made the first mistake by cheating, they should have ended it then. True, he himself had taken an instant liking to the miko and knew what Yusuke had gone through. Yusuke had gotten further and it had left a permanent mark upon his soul. The boy should have ended things with Keiko when he'd felt that strong of a bond with a complete stranger. Yet he hadn't wanted to hurt the girl that had always been there for him.

Keiko had always shown signs of not being able to accept Yusuke's youkai nature but had tried to accept it because she loved him. Now, it was not only destroying their marriage but their friendship as well. He often heard them fighting when he phoned or stopped by. Yusuke was hotheaded and needed an outlet for his anger but had none. Two years ago he'd seen the boy on the verge of a breakdown and had taken matters into his own hand. Taking him to Genkai's he'd provoked a fight between them, letting him take out his pain and anger. He was scared that Yusuke would kill him but had been glad to become a punching bag.

He also knew that after that fight one of Yusuke's problems was that he wanted children. They both knew Keiko was scared to get pregnant. Fear for her own life kept her from wanting to conceive. Yusuke said he knew that there was more to it than that. Keiko wasn't sure if she wanted children with him period. It was because of what he was, it was eating away at him. A year ago after a huge fight Yusuke began training again.

"She might not take you back if you go, think wisely Yusuke." Kurama gave him a final warning knowing he'd support him no matter what he decided. He'd already made his excuses to his mother, claiming to need a small vacation. She had told him to have fun and enjoy his break.

"Yeah I know, this is something I got to do. She'll have to understand, besides she's too busy with her new job. Probably won't even notice me gone." Yusuke grabbed his belongings, ready to go kick some ass. He was only a little stronger than he'd been during the first tournament but it would have to do for now. He'd tried to give up who he was, he couldn't do it any longer. To do so he'd wither and die just like Raizen had done from his self imposed hunger.

"Then lets get going, we want to make it in time." Kurama smiled trying to give a small amount of reassurance. He had to admit he'd never seen Yusuke this determined. Except when he'd been fighting for those he loved. A harsh voice caused them to turn around and gawk.

"Don't think you two are going without us." Kuwabara was walking up with Genkai, Shizuru and Yukina. They were all carrying small bags of their own. "Oh yeah, we get to go watch some kick ass fights. Don't worry, I don't plan on entering. Just want to watch Yurameshi and Hiei kicking some ass."

"You gotta be kidding me. Do you have any idea what could happen if the masses saw three humans walking around." Yusuke yelled at them, there was no way they were going.

"Save it Dimwit, we can take care of ourselves. I'll die soon anyways, might as well make it in a fight. I need some entertainment in my old age, you just worry about yourself." Genkai began walking not waiting on the others.

"Well you heard the old broad, lets get going." Shizuru smiled and took after the old woman, planning on staying by her side the whole time.

****Small Lemon Warning****

"You aren't leaving me behind, we are going with you." Kagome seated herself on her lover's lap, planning on sitting there until she had her way. She had waited until all the children had gone to bed before bringing up the subject. She'd been stuck home for five years and was ready to get out for a break. She knew why Yomi didn't want her to go, it was because there was a good chance Yusuke would be there along with Kurama. They hadn't found her in all this time so they must not be looking for her.

"You will remain here where I know you will be safe." Yomi stared down into her pleading eyes. He didn't want to leave her alone but saw no other way around it. He wasn't so much worried about losing her now. She'd been content to stay with him for the last five years and seemed to want to remain at his side. It didn't mean that if Yusuke found out about her and the boy, he wouldn't try to force them to return. Lydon was old enough and could take care of himself so he had no worries in his case. It was Kagome that was his main concern, Yusuke and Kurama could easily take her from him. He wouldn't allow that, not now. Not only had he become attached to his kitten, she now had something of his.

He placed his hand on the slight buldge begining to show on her flat stomach. The robe was parted revealing her to him, she moaned at the contact. His hand went up to grab her full breast, running his thumb over the hardened nipple. She squirmed in his lap and faked a growl.

"Stop, you are trying to avoid the topic. You can let us go along with you or I'll follow behind you. Which would you prefer? Atleast if you agree I will be with you. Besides Lydon will be with me, he's all the protection I'll need. Don't make me stay here without you." She placed a hand on his chest, running the tips over a nipple. She smiled when he reacted, drawing in a breath.

"Fine but you will hide yourself the best you can. I will need to concentrate on winning, not worrying about your safety the whole time. You will stay by either myself or Shura as well when we are not engaged in a match. Don't try to go off on your own unless needed. Do you understand?" He undid the strings on his pants, letting his throbbing member spring forth. He closed his eyes when Kagome did what he wanted without having to ask.

Kagome grinned to herself, glad she'd just gotten her way. It wasn't often that he gave in to her demands. She wrapped her hand around his thick shaft and placed it at her entrance. His hands wrapped around her waist as she seated herself on him. Her legs bent at the knees resting beside his thighs. It didn't take her long to learn how to please him. He liked to be in control most of the time, unless she got on top. Then he usually let her do as she pleased.

"Take it slow Kagome, I don't want to hurt you." He sat back and let her ride him, enjoying her being in control. He still found it hard to believe that this small human female could bring him pleasure like no other. He tamed her in the bed but never broke her spirit. She was still an enigma to him after all the time spent together. He'd figure her out even if it took centuries. He'd been thrilled when she trusted him enough to tell him about herself. He hadn't liked the fear he'd felt on her when she informed him of the jewel being inside her and her place as it's guardian.

One of his worries had been losing her in a few decades. Now, he wouldn't have to worry about her aging anytime soon. She still looked the same as the day he'd found her. Centuries from now he'd make sure she was still by his side. He'd bring the Makai together, rule as their King. They would all soon know that she was to be his Queen, his life partner.

Kagome brought her mouth down to claim his, drawing his tongue out to play with hers. She moaned when his thumb reached between them to find her small nerve. He stroked her while she moved over him, the tension was about to snap for both of them. She pushed herself leaving only the tip inside. This time she only lowered herself an inch, barely letting him fill her.

"Don't tease me," He applied more pressure reminding her who was in control. He forced her down causing her to call out, her climax claiming her. She rode him hard as she squeezed, pulling him deeper. Yomi didn't try to hold back his release, he let the pleasure take him. Her mouth turned into a big smile feeling him pulsing as he came.

Kagome layed her head against his shoulder, letting him hold her. She mainly wanted to go to this tournament to be with him. He'd be fighting youkai just as strong as himself, there was no way she could remain here not knowing he was okay. Her feelings for him had grown much deeper over the years. It wasn't the same she had felt for Inuyasha or Yusuke but deeper. Inuyasha had been her first love, puppy love. She wasn't sure what she had felt for Yusuke, never having the time to develop anything between them. That one night together had been enough to change her, to touch something deep inside. She cared about him and knew that if she'd been given the chance he would have claimed her heart. But life hadn't gone that way for. Instead she had found a new life with Yomi. He was good to her, made her feel special and loved. The word had never been spoken between them and probably never would be. But she knew he cared about her. Someone like him wouldn't be with her if he didn't. Plus, she saw it in his actions and when he held her at night. If the remainder of her life was spent with him then she'd be happy. She loved him, he meant alot to her now.

"You better get some sleep, we will be leaving in the morning." Yomi picked her up and carried her into their bedroom. Shippo and Lydon now shared the bedroom that had once been hers. Shura still had his own being bigger than the other two. The fox had grown almost a foot and now would be considered a class B youkai. He had come to Yomi one day asking to be trained as well. Wanting to know how to protect his mother. Yomi had also started training Lydon when he'd reached the age of three. He was growing at the rate of a human due to Kagome's genes. When she had questioned him about it he merely explained that the child would stop aging once he matured somewhere in his teens.

His days were filled training all three children, Shura was still the most time consuming. He would usually spar with his son, while Shippo and Lydon went at it being about the same height. While doing so he still took the time to improve his own skills. It had taken some time to adjust to his new sight. Another gift Kagome had given him besides herself. They were better than they had originally been, he was able to focus them to see miles away. Almost as good as his hearing, all thanks to his kitten.

With Kagome's help Shura had turned out better than he hoped. The boy was still cocky and loved to fight but listened. His son also considered Kagome as a mother and had begun to call her so after her first year with them. Instead of protesting the girl had been flattered and treated him just like her other children. His son was also protective of the younger children, considering them to be siblings. He would never have imagined finding himself with an odd family one day. Shura had changed his life that day when he'd tried to rob the little miko.

Kagome nestled up beside him ready to sleep, she used him as a pillow. Everynight was the same, he would watch her for several hours before drifting off to sleep himself. Tonight he tried to fall asleep right after her, knowing he'd need the rest.

*Day One of the Tournament- Preliminary Round*

"Morning Everyone, we know the drill. To eliminate some of the competetion there will be a preliminary round to weed out the weaker fighters. I'll be your host as always and for those that don't know me, my name is Koto. Fighters will now draw their numbers as their names are called. Please step forward in an orderly fashion to make this quick and painless." Koto watched from her booth at the herd of youkai gathered in the yard below. It was the biggest turn out by far. "These matches are the same as always, there will be 42 different sections. The last one standing will move onto the main tournament, let drawing begin."

Yusuke stood in the yard with all his friends at his side. Jin and Chu were scoping out one of the new female fighters, staring at her ample bottom. None of the youkai stood too close, word spreading that Yurameshi was entering again this year. The man watched as the others took their turns drawing numbers, to see who would be in their box. "Wish I wasn't last dammit I hate waiting."

"Patience Yusuke, I wonder where the others are watching from. I still don't think it was a good idea for them to come. Humans here are sure to draw a crowd." Kurama looked around to see who else they recognized besides their few friends. Hiei was standing some distance away next to Mukuro which was to be expected. They had already spoken to him, along with Mukuro. All were wondering the same, would Yomi show. So far he hadn't been seen though Hiei said he sensed him close by.

"Shura! Please come draw your lot." The announcer called for the infamous son of Yomi, waiting. "You have thirty seconds to show or you will be disqualified."

"Hmph, I'd like to see you try." Everyone turned to see the pair walking into the yard, side by side. Whispers started seeing the boy, now looking like a teen. The top of his head now came to Yomi's shoulder, equally broad in width. He had a serious look on his face as he walked up to the box containing numbers. He drew the paper, uncaring of which group he was placed. He was put in group ten, which Jin had also been placed in.

Kurama stared at his old friend, he looked much the same. Five years hadn't changed him much, except there was a small smile on his face. Before he had been known to wear a calm look, he looked more tranquil. Had he gotten over the girl's death? He was tempted to go up and speak to him but refrained from doing so. He felt Yusuke's anger while watching the former king. He knew that seeing the man would cause some kind of reaction in the boy. Since the girl had been with him when she had passed on. Not to mention Yomi had been there when his son had died.

Yomi walked forward when his name was called out, feeling the eyes on him. His eyes remained closed as he did so. His senses were topnotch without the use of his eyes. Now, they were just an added bonus. Something he would work to his own advantage later. His senses picked up Kagome walking around with the other two, going where he had instructed if she didn't want to be punished later. Part of him hoped she would disobey giving him a reason to throw her over his knees. A smile grazed his face at the thought, he couldn't wait for the child to be born. She told him that she was fine but he refused to get too carried away during sex. He wouldn't risk harming her or their child.

Yusuke went for his number, then walked back. Just his luck not anyone worthy of fighting to begin with. Yomi was in the same group with Touya and Chu. That would be interesting to see, if anything else. He walked back to let the remaining few finish up. They would be transported soon to get the boring part over with.

"Hold people, take a look at the screen. I've just been informed that we have an unauthorized free-for-all about to take place in the crowd. Oh my people, do you see what I'm seeing. Seems some humans have decided to come witness this bloodbath. They just might be taking part in their own if something doesn't happen soon." Everyone turned to the screen to see three humans and an ice apparition facing a group of over a hundred youkai. "Do my eyes deceive me or is that the human physic Genkai? We can only assume she came to watch her former apprentice Yusuke Yurameshi. Will she live to watch her student participate or become part of the slaughter herself?"

"What the hell, I told them to stay hidden. What do those morons think they are doing? Why don't they just shout kill me I'm a human." Yusuke shouted not sure if he'd be able to get to them in time to stop the fight.

"Hold the phone, what's this? Someone is actually walking between them. Is that person blind or just stupid. Don't they realize they are between two groups about to collide?" Koto watched the person on the screen, the small person was wearing a cloak so he couldn't be seen. "I'd say the humans have just got a lucky reprieve, the enraged crowd has suddenly turned their anger towards this new arrival. Lets adjust the camera and raise the sound please."

Kagome bristled under the insult, having been informed to move it or die with the worthless humans. They couldn't sense what she was but it angered her just the same. Yomi had told her not to draw attention to herself. She didn't know any of the humans there but they were her kind. Instinct told her that they were about to be attacked simply due to what they were. She sensed the power of two and figured they could take care of the load of shit near her. "Spare me, you couldn't kill a fly that has had his wings removed you pathetic piece of shit."

"Are you trying to get yourself killed, move out of the way. I'm going to kill every last one of those ugly youkai." Kuwabara rolled up his sleeves ready to kill them all if they attacked. Genkai was also ready if they chose to attack them.

"We are going to kill you first, you bastard." The green youkai charged forward, claws raised. Dozens followed behind him going for the lone fighter feeling no power coming from him.

"MOVE!" Kuwabara yelled seeing several blasts going for the lone figure.

Time seemed to hit slow motion, a blast came from in front of the cloaked figure. The red blast was large enough to take out all the charging youkai and a few behind them. Those that didn't move, stood still to be turned to ash from the attack. The screen lit up as a strong aura was felt by all.

"Did you see that?" Koto's voice came over the speakers, "I can't believe my eyes, I didn't even see the man move much less attack. Wait the dust is clearing. Oh my, is that a child? Yes, it is. Can you believe it, that small child just wiped out that unruly crowd with one small blast. Why isn't he in the roster? I think he is about to speak."

The small boy stood at three feet, his long black hair pulled into a high ponytail. A few markings grazed his face, he stared at the piles of ash not far from them. "Idiots, learn to respect your betters. I think you can see we are walking here." He spat at the head that had landed at his feet still intact.

"Lydon!" The cloaked figure spoke, voice filled with anger. "What have I told you about spitting?" Kagome scolded him, hating the disgusting habit he'd picked up. He would stop or she'd remove his spit glands. He was usually a very good child and was very over-protective of her. Yomi was who kept him in line most of the time but he wasn't around.

"Yes, mother." He turned away and went to her side. No one stopped them as they turned to make their way to the room Yomi had prepared for them to watch the fights from. He loved his mother dearly and Yomi, his family meant everything to him. He was just glad his mother hadn't scolded him for killing. He also knew that Yomi wasn't his real father but he still thought of him as such. His mother stopped to look towards the human group, he knew she was concerned for them. That in mind he turned to the remaining youkai staring at them. "They are here to watch the fight just like the rest of us. Touch one of them and you will end up like your friends there."

Yomi smirked hearing the boy's voice, he refrained from actually looking. He'd recognized Kagome's voice the first time she'd spoken. He knew that she was in no danger, both Shippo and Lydon would be close. His concern now was that, everyone had felt the boy's energy. The energy and markings of a Mazaku was unique, most would know what he was. He felt Mukuro and Hiei step beside him.

"Hmm, seems there's another Mazaku offspring running around. I wonder what fool produced that one. But from the looks of him, I have a good guess." Mukuro tried to reach out and probe the boy, wanting to know who he belonged to. "Strange, I can't read his mind."

"Hmph, you should try harder." Hiei allowed his jagan to open, sending it for the boy. He felt himself find the mind, curious as to what he'd find. Maybe it was because the child looked an awful lot like Yusuke that he wanted to know. He tried to enter the child's mind. He screamed in pain as he slammed into the barrier, his head felt like it had been scorched.

"That was foolish Hiei, I could have told you that there was a strong barrier in place." Mukuro laughed at the smaller man's swears. She turned to Yomi and Shura, both glaring at her companion. She contemplated probing them but thought better on it. She doubted she'd be able to successfully read Yomi and Shura was almost as strong now. Neither would take kindly to the intrusion.
