Chapter 9 Home Again

I’m tired of writing these so this stands for all chapters after this I don’t own it nor ever will, I make no money from it, and it is simply for my own sick enjoyment. Rose is mine however and she may be borrowed as long as you ask permission.

Kagome jumped out of the old well and looked around at her surroundings wondering if this was going to be the last time she ever saw it again. Sure he had promised to let her see them as much as she wanted but she didn’t know if that would be a good choice. With every thing that was going on she had no idea what would be fair to them. Tell them I’ll try to come back or tell them that they may never see me again. A tear crept into her eye at the thought.

She pushed the doors open and looked at her home. Instantly the smell and noise hit her like a ton of bricks. Kagome gagged and covered her ears as she quickly made her way to the house. Opening the door she hastily scurried in and shut it behind her. While it wasn’t the best it was a definite reprieve from the other tortuous experience.

Looking up a stunned Sota stared back at her eyes wide. “Grandpa!!!!!!” he yelled making Kagome cover her ears. “Shut up you little brat before I give you something to yell about” She said after the ringing started to recede. “Kagome?” Sota said looking at the demon in front of him once more. Just then Kagome’s grandfather broke into the room and upon seeing Kagome sent a wave of sutras that hit her head and landed on the ground. “Demon be gone from my home” the old man said. “Or you’ll do what gramps paper cut me to death, you should know better then sutra me after all the times you hit inuyasha with one” kagome said looking at the shock on her grandfathers face.

“Kagome?” he said. “Yes grandpa, it’s me. When were you going to tell me that our family was demons?” Kagome said while pulling a chair out and guiding him too it. “It was all myths as far as we were concerned. Never in a million years I would believe it was true…but then I always saw a great power in my descendents that didn’t belong their” he said shaking his head.

Kagome’s mother walked into the kitchen at that time carrying the groceries. “Oh kagome your back” she said not concerned about her daughters appearance. The two men and demon looked up at the women. “Uh… mom does kagome look different to you?” Sota questioned. “Of course dear she turned into a chaos demon” she said putting the bread into a container. “And your ok with this daughter?” grandpa questioned. “Well it was bound to happen any way I mean with all the things she does in the feudal era sooner or later she was going to turn” she said placing the last item away and turning to the stunned group. “Oh guys I know because I too turned when your father passed it was a very troubling time for me but I learned to control the appearance through an amulet and can live a happy life with you guys. Dad you never knew because you were away at the time and I had the time to cover up the demon in me” she said while taking in her daughter’s appearance.

“mom I didn’t just come back to tell you this some other things have come up and I would feel better if I just came out with them before I lost my courage” Kagome said looking into her mothers eyes. “You know you can tell me anything right?” her mom said. “Yes but I would rather it be in private if that’s ok” she said a blush issuing on her cheeks. “Of course dear lets go to your room” with that said the two women went to the upstairs room and closed the door behind them.

Kagome sat on the bed and her mother sat besides her placing a delicate hand on her own. “Mom, I don’t know when I’ll be coming back next time” she started off. “I know dear I can smell him on you, who is he though it’s not one of your usual friends” her mom questioned. “You remember me telling you about Lord Sesshomaru?” kagome said. “Of course the one who has been your enemy since the day you pulled the sword from the tomb of his father” she said. “it’s him, when I saw inuyasha and Kikyou I couldn’t bear the loss and ran into him, as part of a deal we made we shall become mates” Kagome said looking at her mother. “I see, so you do not live this demon” she replied. “That’s the thing mom, I have only been under his roof for one night and yet it seems that I have known him forever, as if we were meant to be. But he is so cold and distant I don’t know what I will do” kagome said letting the tears of fright come up. “Oh Kagome my dear, it sounds to me as though you found your soul mate, it’s very rare but it does happen. While you two may be different you will find that nothing will be able to separate you once you begin your life together” she said while stroking her daughters head.

“Now what else troubles you my dear?” her mom cooed. “Every thing” she sighed out. “What about every thing?” she said. “Mom I barley met the guy and by the end of the week I’m going to sleep with him wouldn’t you be a little upset too?” kagome said getting even more frightened. “Oh is that all you are worried about?” her mom said looking at her daughter, who was growing up so fast before her eyes. “Honey, if you tell him you’re scared I’m sure he will be gentle. And I know that you wanted your first time to be special but look at it this time you will have a happy life with a man you will love, and as hard as it may seem to believe it trust me, I know” he mom said stunning her. “What do you mean?” kagome asked her mother. “Well when I was about your age it was still not uncommon for the parents to arrange marriages. And your grandfather wanted to maintain the traditions of old so he introduced me to your father. After a short span of a bout a month he announced that we were to be married. Of course I was very upset but saw that it would please him very much if I maintained the tradition. Needless to say later that week we got married and I found myself much like you getting into bed with one I barely knew you see over that month I was away one week and he the next we barely knew each other. But I talked to him and we shared a very special moment that I would not trade for the world” her mom said.

Kagome looked at her mom in a new light. She hugged her tightly and knew that no matter what it would all be ok. “I just have one last question” kagome said. “Ok dear what is it?” her mom asked. “Why are you so understanding about this I would have thought that you would be angry at me” kagome said. “well I know that you would have grown up and moved out any way, now that you have changed and have a duty to the feudal era it seems natural for you to be their. And I am your mother and as your mother all I want for my daughter is her happiness so in turn while I may be sad that you are going away I know that you will come back sooner or later to show off all that you have accomplished” she said stroking her daughters cheek.

“Thank you so much for understanding” kagome said. “Any time dear now have a nice relaxing bath and I will tell the others what is going to happen after tonight, your grandfather will be happy to think of an excuse for your long absence I have a feeling he won’t mind too much” her mom said getting up from the bed.

Kagome got up and stepped into the bather room and started the water. She stripped her clothing off and looked at herself in the mirror. Sinking into the bubbly hot water a long sigh escaped from her lips. It just felt good to be home again. Looking to the window she saw that the moon had come out and was almost at its peak. She reluctantly started her bathing rituals because she knew that even though she had all the time she needed the more time she stayed the more she would not want to leave.

Stepping out into the hall she had to see her room one last time. Gathering in all the sights her eyes landed on one item in particular. She grabbed the frame from the desk and looked at her family, their stood her mother with her war smile, her brother with a cheesy smile and his fingers in a v while grandpa was looking about for the demons. She couldn’t leave with out it, just this one memory would help her survive the separation.

Walking down the stairs she looked at her family and smiled. She gathered them into a hug and whispered each a personal good bye. Her mother gave her a small backpack with a letter from each of them and walked her to the old well.

“I have one last thing to give you kagome” her mom said. She took a long box from her pocket and placed it in her daughter’s hands. Kagome opened it to find a slim dagger inside. Kagome took it out and un-sheathed the thin blade. “it has been in the family for a very long time, it has been rumored that it was once used in demon mating seeing as I have no use of it I will give it to you so that it can be used at your ceremony” her mom said. Kagome took the dagger and hugged her mom tightly. “I’ll miss you” she said. “And I you” her mom replied.

Kagome looked back at her mom one last time and jumped into the well towards her future.
