Savior

Chapter Nine

Sango collected her wages for the night along with the tips she'd earned. Her boss was an elderly lady that was quick to smile. Everyone at the club was nice and easy to get along with. No one asked too many questions about her past. Kagome having made up some lie, what she wasn't sure. She went inside the dressing room and quickly changed out of her uniform. For a slight moment the couch placed inside started looking really inviting. Alteast if she slept here she'd be guaranteed to get some sleep.

Two month Kurama had been with them, two months of hell for her. She didn't mind the man, he seemed decent enough. It was the way him and Kagome was always at each others throats. The two should just admit that they liked each other and give them all a break. Sango wasn't blind or stupid, she saw the way they both looked at the other. It was only a matter of time before everything came to a crashin halt. Kagome was never going to choose any of them other men not when the one she wanted was right there.

They were miserable and was making her life miserable as well. Maybe she should see about getting a place of her own. Either that or telling them two to admit they like each other. She was also tired of all the damn youkai coming and going. That Jin and Shishi was there almost every other day trying to sway Kagome into choosing them. Atleast that loudmouth Chu hadn't been back in awhile. She couldn't sleep when he was over, he needed a muzzle.

Just her luck she was spending everyday working while Kagome was sitting home having men fawn all over her. Life wasn't fair sometimes it seemed. The only man that payed attention to her was Kurama and he was just being polite. She knew where his interest layed, he just needed to admit it.

She shoved the money in her pocket and threw her bag over her shoulder. She had told Kurama not to pick her up tonight. Thirty more minutes of peace was needed as she walked home. Hearing them two fight over the radio station wasn't what she needed. She began walking down the street, only one car went past as she walked. It was after three a.m., most people were in bed sleeping.

She turned the corner to take her home and stopped. Five youkai were standing not far from her waiting it seemed. Panic almost filled her, she didn't think paying them would help. One of them took a menacing step towards her baring his claws.

Great, she was about to be attacked and she had no weapons to speak of. He charged at her, she brought her bag down across his face. One grabbed her from behind holding her still.

"Come on boys, lets have some fun." A forked tongue slid in her ear.

Sango screamed when blood shot forward covering her face. The arms stayed around her as the man behind her was cut into several pieces. The three infront of her looked shocked only seconds before they were torn apart. Suprise and fear filled her as she wiped the blood off her face trying to see.

Her eyes widened when she saw a man suddenly standing in front of her. He didn't move to attack her yet, simply stared at her. She looked him over, he had a sickle in his hand. His long black hair blew behind him as he gazed at her. Something black moved behind him as he cocked his head to the side.

"You should be more careful." With that he was gone.

Sango looked around at the mess and began to run. He could have just killed her but didn't. She could feel the blood drying as the wind hit her face. Her face and shirt were covered in the mess. Several minutes later she was at the front door, her finger drew the key out. It slid out her bloody hand, "Shit." She kicked the door not wanting to put blood all over it. She bent down to retrieve it as the door swung open.

"Sango?" Kurama was shocked to see the girl bloody standing at the door. "Are you okay?"

"I'm okay, I just couldn't get my key into the door." She brushed past him and ran to the bathroom. The shower was the first thing she hit. The water ran over her, getting rid of the blood. She heard knocking on the door as she contemplated what had happened. There was a good chance she could have taken them on her own. Who had been the man that had interfered. She wasn't able to get a good look at him, besides for a few details. Why would he save her?

The door opened and Kagome came inside univited, "Sango are you okay? Kurama said you were covered in blood as you came in."

"Yeah, I was leaving the club and a group of guys were pelting people with balloons filled with it. I managed to take two of them on the way out. Don't ask me where they got them from. I ran to get away from it."

"Oh, okay. He said you ran off too fast, he wasn't sure if it was yours or not."

Sango peeked out of the curtain, "No, I'm fine. A little tired and pissed off about it but not hurt."

"Okay, well I'll let him know. I'll see you later." Kagome walked out and spoke to Kurama briefly then headed to bed.

Sango looked at the alarm clock one more time, it was heading for six a.m. already. If she was going to get any decent sleep she'd better try soon. Kagome's suitors usually got there around nine, which gave her three hours before the noise began.

Kagome was sitting down counting the minutes as they ticked by. Soon they would be here and she'd be forced once again to act like she was enjoying their company. Not that she minded the company, it was usually pleasant. With Sango sleeping during the day the only one here was Kurama. He ignored her most of the time if he wasn't being an ass to her. It was bothering her now, she didn't want him to treat her like that. Everthing had started to change after he'd kissed her.

Once again she liked someone that acted like he couldn't stand her. With Inuyasha it had just been Inuyasha. The hanyou acted that way towards everyone, so it hadn't been her. He had actually cared for her and harbored some feelings. But Kurama was a completely different story. Having him as her babysitter left her to see what he was really like. He was nice, polite, and very charming to everyone else. If he had to go somewhere she went with him, so they spent a lot of time together. Yesterday she'd tried to make small talk with him.

She knew that she liked him and thought to try for a better relationship with him. All he did was snap at her nearly taking her head off. So she had given up on striking up a conversation with him. Maybe half of it was her fault but she was willing to try now. He wasn't going to give though, he seemed to enjoy hating her.

He sat down at the table with her drinking a cup of coffee. His eyes went to his paper ignoring her once more. "Is Sango okay?"

"She hasn't woken up since going to bed, she looked fine. You were worried weren't you." She watched as he stopped reading his paper.

"Yes, of course I was." He went back to it.

"Would you have been worried if it had been me covered in blood?" She asked trying to see if he even cared about her.

"No, I would have been angry." He replied without looking up.

"Really?" Hope filled her for a few seconds.

"Yes, that they would have been too lazy to finish the job." He heard her get up pushing the chair from under herself. "Kagome."

"Save it," She walked down the hall and went into her bedroom slamming the door. She made sure to lock it before climbing into bed.
