Splitting
Chapter Nine
Kagome was stumbling when she finally found a cave that would work. She ran inside and stopped long enough to erect a ward at the entrance. Her knees hit the floor as her hands went to remove her clothing. Sweat poured off her as the first real spasm hit her. Her scream filled the cave as it crashed.
Her senses picked up the visitors at the entrance trying to get it. It would keep them out for now atleast, hopefully she was far enough back they wouldn't be able to see her. Her modesty only lasted a minute before the next wave came. She fell onto her back as her muscles began to shift and tear. The pain was so great her stomach emptied itself.
Blood began to seep out her pours and she cried out as the sound of breaking bones were heard. The noise echoed along the walls. Whimpering was heard as her flesh ripped and readjusted itself. Soon two screams were heard as their bodies began to seperate.
"What the hell is going on in there?" Yusuke grimaced when what sounded like breaking bones was heard.
Hiei grabbed Koenma by the shirt, "What is happening?"
"I don't know, this shouldn't be happening. The soul should have just left the girl."
"If anything happens to her, I swear you will die." He let Koenma go as two seperate voices were heard.
Both screams echoed as the heavy scent of blood came pouring out the cave. It lasted for a few minutes then nothing. Hiei ran in as soon as he felt the ward drop followed by the others. He stopped when he saw two bodies laying on the floor covered in blood. His senses told him who was who.
"I'll get Kagome." Kurama ran to the miko knowing Hiei would want to see to his sister. "She seems to be fine."
Hiei went to his knees and looked her over. Shock filled him when he remembered her face, his eyes went down. There was a large cut along her middle, was it possible? His eyes flew to the miko, the girl from the park. "She's wounded." He placed his cloak around her and picked her up. "She needs to be seen to."
Kurama had the miko covered up the best he could. "Let's go."
Koenma opened up the portal to take them to the Reikai. Hiei and Kurama went in first, he sighed before going in.
"How did their bodies fuse?" Kurama was sitting next to Hiei in the office, the girls had been taken to be seen to and washed up. He was sure everyone wanted to know.
"I guess I was mistaken at first, I believed it was merely the soul. Yet I noticed something as they were carried in. See the jewel was originally made from the soul of a miko and that of a youkai. My only guess is that when it was used five centuries ago by the evil hanyou it used up the power but the jewel remained. I now believe the jewel wanted to repair itself, heal if you will. But in order to do so it would need to feed off both a miko soul and youkai. Kagome is only one of those so it would need another. I'm assuming Kagome found the girl near death and when she did then the jewel chose to fuse the two. Giving it what it needed." He sighed, "I believe I interrupted the process when I tried to force the soul out. In forcing the soul out, the body had no choice but to follow. The jewel is now torn in two between both girls."
"So what do we do?" Kurama thought it made sense. Explains why they said they hadn't died.
"There is nothing we can do but make sure both halves don't fall into the wrong hands."
Please read and review. sorry so short, tired
