On Saturday February 7th 2009 at 11:45 pm Jaine Peters, age 22, was struck by a drunk driver and killed. She was on her way back to campus after attending her little sister’s 19th birthday party.
Jaine was a senior at University in pre-med and wanted more than anything to become a doctor and cure cancer. She helped us with ideas for our stories and when we had writers block she encouraged us to just take it easy and let the ideas come.
Jaine was an avid cosplayer and a huge fan of Full Metal Alchemist. She bought a plushie of Sasuke and burned it in effigy when he left Konoha. She made us laugh so hard we would cry and she opened our eyes to all sorts of new things.
Her murderer was charged with Vehicular Manslaughter and will spend three years in state prison for his crimes. Jaine will never again dress up as Roy Mustang and chase all the Ed’s around with milk at conventions. Her killer is being sent to a minimum-security prison in the country. Jaine will never dress up like a pirate on International Talk Like a Pirate Day and go to class.
Jaine was our dearest friend, our closest ally, and our heart’s sister. She will be missed more than anyone could know.
