A/N: Thanks for the reviews and sorry for the long wait. I´ve got an email if I could make the pairing a foursome with Kurama. Well, I don´t have a problem with it but I want to know what the other readers would prefer. I would appreciate some suggestions from the skilled writers on the lemons. I may be a hentai but to write down these thoughts in english is still difficult for me.

Help from an old friend


Pain. Hot, excruciating pain. What happened? She couldn´t remember anything only the hushed voice of an old woman who had spoken in an old language. Did the woman cursed her? Deep buried images of the kuromiko (black priestess) Tsubaki flashed in her mind as panic rose in her. This couldn´t happen again, she wouldn´t allow it. She almost killed Inuyasha then, who would she harm this time? And so she increased her struggle against the foreign feeling.

Her black silken tresses fell gently across her pale face. Yukina brushed them away but quickly snatched her hand away as Kagomes energy started to pulsate. Genkai pulled her away and said “Stay back, she can´t control herself and could hurt you unintentionally.” Yukina just nodded and watched as Kagomes lips parted but nothing came out. The purple swirling of her enenrgy intensified and her body convulsed. “Everybody with demonblood will stay away, Kuwabara help me!” shouted Genkai and held Kagomes upper body down. Kuwabara rushed to her side and held her legs down. He was afraid and didn´t understand what happened “Genkai! What´s going on? What did you do to her?” Kagome was his friend and it pained him to see her in this state. “Shut up, I didn´t do anything. The foolish girl is fighting against the spell but she must accept it or she will harm herself seriously”.

Kagome lay on the cold groud, her body still convulsing from the pain. No, not her body. This was not her real body even if the pain was real. It has to be a projection from herself. But why was everything dark around her. Was this place a creation of her mind or was this the dark part of her heart? Yes, the dark spot in her heart that Naraku´s baby had used against her to gain the control over her mind and almost succeeded. She was young then and still believed in something. She believed in love. But now? She was certain to lose against him if he could attack her now. There was nothing to hold on, rather nobody. It was the love to Inuyasha that gave her the strength to fight. But now? Sure, there was her family but maybe they were better off if she no longer existed. The shrine wouldn´t be in danger if the guardian were no longer there. Sesshoumaru was unreachable for her, the cruel fate saw to it. The shikon no tama would follow her into the afterlife. Her thougts were interrupted as the pain became unbearable and she cried out. Suddenly there was a light. A bright and warm light. Was it this they say you see when you´re dieing. It wasn´t her imagination. No, someone was calling her name. The voice was familiar and became louder. She extended her arms to embrace the light. Strange, to feel warm and safe when you die was the last thing she expected.

As Kagome cried out Genkai got scared for the girls life. She could lose her mind if she won´t calm down. “Damnit girl, calm down and let go. Don´t be so stubborn or you will never wake up!” The dedectives watched helplessly and Yukina looked as if she would cry any moment. Hiei couldn´t risk to help her with the Jagan. He could harm her more if she tried to fight him as well. It was really frustrating. Suddenly the girls arms reached for something and she calmed down a bit. The wild swirling of the energy decreased.

“….Kagome..,… Kagome look at me.” Kagome groaned “What happened, who…” she slowly opened her eyes and shocked blue met with corncerned golden. “How?” That was all she could say. He smiled at her “Stupid wench. I came to help you.” She buried her face into his neck as tears of happiness poured down her face “Gods Inuyasha, I missed you so much.” Inuyasha held her tight and stroked her hair gently. “Kagome, you have to relax. Calm down or you will cause yourself some serious harm.” Now that Inuyasha was here she already was quiter but the pain was still there. “Inuyasha, I can´t remember what happened. The only thing I know was that I heard an old woman. The witch has cursed me somehow, what should I do?” It felt good to be in his arms. She couldn´t help but feel safe. His snicker brought her back from her reverie and she looked into his amused eyes. His fangy grin gave him a cute boyish look and she smiled back at him. She couldn´t remember the last time when he looked so carefree. “Why are you laughing”? Inuyasha just shook his head and said “Just close your eyes and you will see.” She did what he told her and felt the slight pressure of his hand on her forehead. Immediately the events of the past days flashed in her mind, Koenma and her new allies. Yukina, Genkai and the spell which should free the hidden power in her. She groaned, how was it possible to forget that. And she called Genkai an old witch. Good thing that she wasn´t here, she didn´t want to get on her bad side. Who knows what the lady was capable of.
“So you remember.” It wasn´t a question, her groan saw to it. “Yeah, but how was it possible to forget something like that but I could remember the talk with Sesshoumaru?” Inuyasha just shruged. “Hell, I don´t know how your brain works. Don´t ask me such questions, I´m not the bouzu (priest)!” Kagome glared at him, even now he was rude. Inuyasha saw her glare and quickly changed the topic. “Kagome, why did you want to give up willingly?” She looked down ashamed and sighed “Why not, it would be better if I weren´t here. I don´t have anything left to fight for. Our friends are in the past, you died and I lost Sesshoumaru. The jewel will follow my soul I´m its last protector.” He looked at her as if she is insane. “You´re not serious, are you? You can start over again and find someone else who will love you. And what about your family? They would be devastated! And Sota? I was there as you came back, I saw how worried he was about you and how much he tried to help you with your pain. I saw everything you know, I´m a ghost now! Don´t be so selfish!” he shouted at her. She was still looking down and angry tears were streaming down her face. “I know I´m selfish, I know it O.K.! You don´t need to remind me of it!” She shouted back. The pain increased again and she cried out. Inuyasha held her tighter and said “Let go, you have to let it go. Don´t be afraid I´ll lead you.” He laid his left hand across her closed eyes and Kagome could feel his energy. She went limp in his arms and accepted the invasion of the spell. As strange as the feeling was it ended abruptly. The pain was gone and she felt surprisingly good. “What have you done?” she asked him. He shook his head “It doesn´t matter, your body has accepted the spell. But you aren´t ready for it. When the right time comes it will release the dormant power within you. Still you have to be careful. The spell will create some side effects. I don´t know what exactly they will be, you´ll see it then”. She just noded, what could she say? “Thank you for being there for me”. He sighed “No, it´s alright. I´ve promised to always protect you I will. Even now. I´m sorry that I called you selfish. I don´t know someone else who is more selfless than you.”
Kagome let go of him and stood up. The bitter laugh coming from her shocked him, it just didn’t suit her. “You don´t understand, do you? Why do you think I broke up our nonexistent relationship?” Confusion was evident on his face as she continued “Not because I didn´t loved you anymore. I´ve always loved you and always will. I was just selfish. I wanted you, all of you. Heart, body and soul. But we both knew who else was in your heart and in your mind. I couldn´t live with that. How many times did you tell me how much better, prettier and smarter Kikyou is than me? I became insecure and doubted on my own strength. How could I be sure that you really would see me when you would hold me in your arms. Maybe you wished it was her as we kissed. Even if it wasn´t so I would have always carried a shadow of doubt in my heart. I couldn´t share you no longer, not with her. I could have lived with it, if it were someone else. If it were someone who I couldn´t be the twin. But it was not. Then I saw your pain and your guilt and let you free. I didn´t want to burden you more with me. Now you know the truth. I can understand if you despise me but I´m sorry that I hurt you.”
Inuyasha just stared at her. He wasn´t aware how she really felt. “Why? Why didn´t you tell me the truth earlier? I thought….I thought that you left me because you didn´t love me and that I wasn´t good enough for you, a dirty half breed. It really hurt as you fell for my bastard brother.” She embraced him fiercely “Don´t you dare to say that again” she hissed angrily “you should know me better, there is nothing dirty on you” she said softer. “I couldn´t tell you the truth then. I was to shy to say that I wanted you. Hell, we both blushed just from holding hands how could I say I wanted to nibble at your ears and kiss and lick every part of your body”? Both burst out laughing. “So Kagome, you had naughty thoughts of me eh”? he teased her. She grinned “Sure you´re a hot guy. A girl had to be blind or wrong poled to be not attracted to you.” He chuckled. “But what about the Iceberg? How could you fall for him? Hell, you were even the one who chased after him! Wasn´t it supposed to be the other way around?” Kagome laughed again but he was right. She was the one who was after Sesshoumaru in the beginning. “You´re right, but after he safed my life the second time unintentionally I couldn´t help myself. You know him and how he disliked humans with the exception of Rin. Still I have means as a young and attractive woman even as human.” She batted her long eyelashes playfully at him as he grimaced. “Uhg thanks, but I have no desire to hear how you seduced Fluffy”. Again they burst out laughing. The first time he called him so Sesshoumaru almost cut his vocal cords with Toukijin, what a sadistic bastard he was.
Inuyasha looked one more time in Kagomes eyes and hold her tight. She sighed in his arms, content at the moment. ‘My Kagome, you will never know how much I really love you. But you were right in one point, my guilt weighed too much and I couldn´t do what my heart was demanding. I hope you will find the man who can give you what I couldn´t and be happy.’
He kissed her temple and leaned his forehead against hers. “You have to wake up, your new friends are waiting for you.” She sighed again “I wish I could stay here with you” and cupped his cheeks. She brought his face down and kissed him gently on the lips “Thank you for everything. I love you Inuyasha, till the end of time” she whispered and watched how his image vanished. She closed her eyes as her own created world dissolved and slowly opened her eyes again to see two faces looking at her with concern.
