THE END

“SHIT! That bastard is never this close to the village! Why now?!” Inuyasha fumed.

“Inuyasha, I suggest you calm yourself, and concentrate on coming up with a plan to rescue Kagome-chan.” Sango said sternly.

“Sango’s right!” Miroku said.

“I’m gonna kick Naraku’s ass!” Shippou yelled. “He better not hurt a hair on her head!”

“Kaede?” Inuyasha said quickly.

“Yes, child.”

“I don’t know if the village is safe…you need to get everyone out of here!”

“Where should we go, Inuyasha? Our lives are here. We will fight.”

“You’ll lose! Dummy!”

“Then we will die fighting! We will no longer live in fear!”

A crowd had gathered and were whispering about the young miko’s abduction. One of the villagers shouted an agreement when Kaede said they would die fighting.

Inuyasha’s gaze narrowed. He knew they wouldn’t stand a chance if Naraku REALLY planned to destroy the village and all it occupants. He looked at Keade, and nodded reluctantly.

“Be prepared! We have no idea what that slimy bastard is up to!”

Kaede nodded. Inuyasha turned to leave, but Kaede grabbed his sleeve. He met her eyes.

“Bring her back.”

He nodded, and hurried to where Miroku, Sango, Shippou and Kilala were waiting. The small group of unlikely companions; two full demons, a demon slayer, a monk…and a hanyou, looked at each other, worry evident on each face.

“Let’s go!”

Kilala transformed into her larger form, and carried Sango, Miroku and Shippou. Inuyasha took to the trees.

NARAKU'S CASTLE

Kagome groaned and sat up. She immediately regretted that action. Her head hurt so bad it made her nauseous, and she wondered if she wasn’t going to vomit. She looked down and saw that her white school uniform shirt was covered with blood from her fractured nose. She gingerly fingered the bridge of her nose and winced. It would definitely need set.

She looked around her in the dark room. She noticed it was a tatami room, and the only light was from the moonlight pouring in through the window.

Footsteps and moving light caught Kagome’s attention, and she moved to a corner of the room. The room was bare except for the futon she had been laying on. The shoji door slid open, and the room was illuminated with light from a lantern. Kagome squinted against the light, and saw Naraku leering at her from the doorway. He smirked.

“Come out little one…I told you, you need not fear me.” He said.

Kagome scowled at him, and pushed herself against the wall. Naraku shrugged. He lowered the lantern to the floor.

“I brought you a change of clothes. Someone as beautiful as you should not be dressed in garments stained with blood.” He placed the yukata on the futon. He turned to leave, but paused when he heard Kagome whisper.

“Why?” She said rising to her feet.

“Why, what?”

“Why are you doing this? Why do you want to kill Inuyasha?! What has he ever done to YOU?!” She demanded.

He took a step closer. “Because he’s gotten in my way one too many times…but I’m not the one who’s going to kill him.” He smiled evily.

“What? Then who?”

“You.”

“WHAT?!”

“Listen. Right now Inuyasha is on his way here. He is coming to save YOU. YOU are my bait, little one. Haven’t you figured that out yet?” He asked, puzzled she hadn’t figured it out herself. “So YOU will ultimately be the cause of his death.”

Kagome was filled with rage, and it bubbled over. She threw herself at Naraku.

“NO! I WILL NOT LET YOU USE ME! YOU BASTARD!”

He grabbed her by the neck, and drew closer. His face was mere inches from hers, and she could smell his fowl breath.

“You don’t have a choice.”

He took her chin in his other hand, and turned her head from side to side. He grinned. “I can see why Inuyasha is infatuated with you. You are very beautiful, little one. He is very lucky…”

He felt her shiver, and swallow hard. He looked at the glass bottle holding the jewel, and pulled it from her neck. He released her, and she fell back onto the futon. He turned and left, sliding the shoji door shut behind him. She drew her knees up to her chest and wrapped her arms around her legs. She rested her chin on her knees, and rocked back and forth.

“Inuyasha…oh God! Inuyasha…I’m sorry…I’m sorry…” She whimpered.

Our heroes sped towards where they suspected Naraku’s castle to be. It had started to rain, and their clothes were soaked through. The sky was becoming ominously darker the longer they traveled.

“Damnit! It’s right up ahead here! I’m telling you Miroku!”

“No. It’s more North!”

Sango and Shippou looked at each other and rolled their eyes.

“COME ON! Knock it off you two!” Sango yelled.

“FINE!” Yelled Miroku.

“Keh!”

Inuyasha sniffed. “This way!” He pointed.

Of course, they set off in the direction Inuyasha originally wanted to go. When they reached the edge of the forest, there was a large feudal castle standing in the clearing. They were expecting a shield and a thick cloud of miasma. But it looked totally unguarded.

Inside, Kagome decided to change into the yukata Naraku brought her to wear. It was made out of the most beautiful material she had ever seen. It was pearly white, and a large dragon was embroidered on the back in gold silk thread.

“There has to be some way! I will NOT let Naraku use ME to get Inuyasha!”

“Tsk tsk tsk…haven’t you learned anything?”

She spun around. Naraku was once again standing in the door way, watching her. He walked closer, and backed her up against the wall. “You can’t stop it.” He brushed her cheek with the back of his hand. She turned her face away. “You need not suffer…but if you insist on interfering, then I’ll have no choice.”

She turned her face, and stared coldly into his eyes.

“I’d gladly follow my friends in death.”

“Maybe you’ll get your wish…” He was cut off when he heard someone call his name.

“NARAKU! GET OUT HERE YOU SONOFABITCH!!!”

Naraku smirked. “Here we go…you look exquisite by the way.” She shot him a dirty look. He took her wrist and pulled her along with him.

“Inuyasha! I have someone here who is dying to see you!”

“I swear, Naraku, if Kagome is hurt…”

“INUYASHA! IT’S A TRAP!!!” Kagome yelled.

Naraku spun around, and shook his head. “Big mistake, little one.”

Kagome never saw it coming. Naraku backhanded her, she hit the wall and slid to the floor. Naraku sighed. He walked out onto the porch of the castle. Inuyasha was already in his fighting stance, tetsuaiga drawn.

“Inuyasha…let’s have a fair fight for once.”

“Keh! What are you, a comedian?”

“Very well.” He shrugged, “Have it your way.”

And he attacked. His tentacles ensnared Sango, after she threw her boomerang. Miroku was about to unleash his wind-tunnel, but a swarm of poisonous insects appeared.

“Ah ah ah. I wouldn’t do that Monk.”

Kagome staggered out of the castle unnoticed.

“FOXFIRE!” Shippou yelled.

Inuyasha was chopping off tentacles left and right, but they grew right back. Sango threw her boomerang again, and hit Naraku in the back. He spun around and knocked her some feet away with a tentacle.

Inuyasha pushed of the ground, and launched himself at Naraku. Naraku caught Inuyasha in one of his tentacles, and pulled him close.

“I’m gonna have fun with your little miko, Inuyasha…she is absolutely delicious.” He whispered in his ear.

Inuyasha’s blood ran cold. “Motherfucker!” He shouted, struggling against Naraku's grasp.

He took a swipe at Naraku with his claws, but Naraku flung him to the ground. Naraku was laughing like a maniac.

Kagome spotted Kilala biting a tentacle. Then she noticed on the fire-cats back: ‘My bow and arrow!’ She slid down the steps and crouched down so she wouldn’t be spotted. She crawled closer to Kilala, and grabbed her fur getting her attention. Kilala looked down, with the tentacle still in her mouth. Kagome quickly grabbed the bow and arrow. ‘Thank you God…no one has noticed me!!!’ She thought. She took aim right at Naraku’s back.

“NARAKU!” She yelled.

He spun around. The arrow hit him square in the chest. A bright light surrounded him, and he howled.

“NOOOOOOOOOOO!”

The arrow purified him. He collapsed and disintegrated, leaving the little glowing jewel behind. They all stood in shock for a few minutes looking at each other. Kagome still had her bow raised. She lowered her weapon, and retrieved the jewel.

“Kagome?” Inuyasha finally broke the silence. He ran over to her, and he hugged her tightly to his chest. He kissed her forehead. “Thank God you’re OK!”

Miroku pealed the cloth away from his cursed hand, and tears stung his eyes as he watched it disappear. “It’s gone!” He yelled holding up his hand. “It’s gone!” He fell to his knees and cried. Sango knocked him over, and kissed him. Of course, he ruined the moment when he grabbed her butt. A loud slap echoed in the clearing.

Inuyasha, Kagome, and Shippou laughed.

“WE DID IT!!!” Inuyasha yelled

“Kagome!” Shippou squealed as he bounded into Kagome’s arms.

“Shippou!” She hugged him.

“Come on! Let’s go home!” Inuyasha called.

Miroku and Sango disentangled themselves, and climbed on Kilala with Shippou.

“We’ll meet you back at the village!” Miroku said.

Inuyasha nodded.

He pulled Kagome closer, and kissed her deeply. “I was so scared Kagome. You weren’t at home or in the village…”

She covered his mouth with hers. When she pulled back, Inuyasha saw a big smile on her face. “Let’s go home!” She started to turn, but he grabbed her hand and laced his fingers through hers. She looked up at him questioningly.

“I…I love you.”

Her eyes got big, and she smiled. “Thank you, Inuyasha…I love you very much.” She said, her voice shaky.

She hugged him, and he held her close.

“Get on.” He turned around and kneeled so she could climb on his back. It was no longer raining, and millions of stars were visible in the black velvet sky, as they raced back home.
