Chapter Sevevn

Kimi was standing in a field filled with white flowers, there was no sound, no birds, nothing. Her clothes consisted of a long white robe, she wore no shoes and her hair blew freely in the wind. "Hello is anyone there? Please anybody." She grunted at her misfortune and began to run. How did she get here and where was she? Flowers were crushed in her wake but she was getting nowhere, this place had to be endless. She fell to her knees and tears began to stream down her face, how she wished her sister were here. A shadow fell across her figure and she jumped to come face to face with a young woman. Long black hair much like her own flowed behind her. The woman was dressed in some strange armor and a sword rested at her side.

"Do not cry, you will do fine. I sense a strong soul within you. You will need to be strong, only a strong soul can defeat him."

"Who are you, and where am I?" she asked.

"My name is Midoriko," she reached her hand out helping the young girl upon her feet. "Please hear my story. A long time ago, I was a powerful miko, that fought for man-kind, killing those demons that threatened our peaceful existence. One day I was set upon by herds of demons, at the end only one demon and myself were left. My strength had been spent and I was unable to destroy him, both our souls were sealed inside my body and from there the jewel of the four souls was born. The shikon no tama, was born into the world. It passed through many hands, humans and demons alike wishing to use its power for their own greed. One day the jewel was passed to a young Miko by the name of Kikyo. She guarded it well, but it didn't last, you see the young lady had immense purification powers but her soul was weak. Her heart was not pure for she herself wanted to use the jewel for her own desires. She fancied herself settling down with the man of her own choosing and wished to use the jewel to turn him human. You see my child, unselfish true love, is to love someone for who they are not what they can become or what you wish them to be. In asking that of the man she supposedly loved she showed she did not trully love the man and to use the jewel would have been using it for her own desires. But she was slain and the wish was never made. The jewel was then burnt with her body and was returned in the body of your mother. Your mother has a pure heart and soul. Seventeen years ago she used the jewel for a wish that was neither for herself or her own desires. The jewel should have been sent from this world and my soul freed. But before you mother made her wish, something happened. Deep within the jewel lays a new soul, one that is purely evil and black. Even now I can feel his presence, his hatred and evil. I knew the jewel would once again be returned, so I chose your mother's children and I chose wisely. I can feel the evil once again threatening the world I loved so much. You and your sister have a destiny as does your mother. Now wake, and meet your destiny with a pure heart and a brave soul."

Her image started to fade, Kimi reached for her, "Wait, please don't leave." But the figure was already gone leaving her alone once more. "Wake? I must be dreaming. Wake up, wake up."

Twenty feet above the ground, the girl slowly came to. Her thoughts were fuzzy at first and she could what felt like claws dinging into her shoulders. "Ouch, dammit that hurts." Blue eyes opened to find herself high in the air and treetops were passing under her feet. "Holy shit, I'm flying." A high pitched sound pierced her ear and she realized she was being carried. 'I have to get down, but how? If I get them to drop me I'll fall to my death. Gotta wait for somewhere safe to land.' They were now passing over what looked to be a valley and in the bottom were nothing but bones scattered everywhere. "Gross."

A mountain flat could be seen in the distance, she planned to make her move as they flew over. She could feel blood droplets making there way down her neck and chest as the little creatures dug their claws deeper into her flesh. As soon as the flat top passed under her feet she started swatting at the bastards holding onto her. They screamed in her ear but she kept slapping feeling them tug at her shoulders causing her to bleed worse. "Dammit, let go of me you little shits." Her efforts payed off as she felt herself plummet to the ground. Her foot caught under her the wrong way and a sharp pain shot up her leg and a second later she was face down in the dirt. "Ow." Hissing noises were heard over head as they charged down to pick her up once more. Without regard to her hurt ankle she took off like a bat out of hell. The edge soon came into view and without thinking she proceeded to slide down the mountain skinning up her hands on the trek down. They followed as she took off once more but this time into the valley, a forest was in the distance. "I have to reach the woods."

"Made it," she cleared the first tree and started weaving in and out trying to confuse them. Branches were snagging in her hair and cutting into her neck, already scrapped up palms but it didn't stop her. It seemed like miles since her run was started and she was quickly losing what stanima was left. 'I have to be heading into the mountains, the incline is getting steep and my legs are killing me.' Quickly, ducking behind a big tree, she waited for any signs or sounds from the them. An hour passed and still nothing, "Lost em." Relief passed through her body and caused her to sag against the tree.

Ginta and Hakaku were out hunting for the pack. Kouga was once again in one of his moods, yelling orders and demanding. The two didn't take it to heart, for they knew there leader was lonely and worried about the new demon all the other tribes had been commenting on. Their den and home in the mountains had yet to be disturbed so they kept to themselves. They took the chance to go hunting to get away from their leader's bickering. So far there luck hadn't held, they'd spotted a wild pig some time ago, but it had managed to escape them. A loud clap of thunder was heard in the distance, it was going to rain and soon.

"Did you hear that, Ginta?"

"Yeah, we better head back don't think we are going to find anything." Hakaku turned to walk away.

"Wait, not the thunder listen." Ginta strained his ears and he was sure he heard something. Then the sound of crying caught his ears. "Hear that? Sounds like crying."

"Wanna check it out maybe its something we can eat." They set off in the direction the crying was coming from. Didn't take them long before they came across a girl hunched over leaning up against the tree crying into her knees. Her face couldn't be seen cause she had it buried.

Ginta took another step forward, the leaves crackled under his feet, causing her head to snap up and face her visitors. "Who are you and what do you want?" He looked the girl over, he'd be damned if she didn't remind him of Kagome. But it couldn't be Lady Kagome she'd disappeared years ago and even if she were alive she'd be much older than this young girl.

Hakaku noticed it also, and took instant pity upon the girl that was obviously hurt and in need of help. "Do you need help? Are you alone?" He reached for the girl and was shocked when she drew a sword from her side quicker than he could blink.

"Stay away from me," Kimi tried to stand but a sharp pain shot up her leg causing her to flinch. A drop of rain fell from the sky landing on her already wet cheeks. 'What am I going to do? I have no idea where I am, if mom and the others can even find me. Its about to pour and I'm tired and in pain. Should I trust these two? If they wanted me dead wouldn't they have attacked by now its not like I could put up much of a fight.' She was just so tired, her eyelids started closing on their own.

"She fell asleep, what should we do?" Ginta took another step forward and when the girl didn't react he took another step in time to catch her before she fell forward. "Grab her things, Hakaku, we will take her back to the den, Kouga will know what to do." He picked her up bridal style dislodging the sword from her hand and handed it to his comrade. The rain began to pour down as they made their back up the mountain towards the wolf den.

Inuyasha cursed at their luck, they'd been traveling for two hours. Sango and Miroku had came back several minutes after the girl had been taken, reporting that they'd lost sight of them. For two hours, he'd tried to track the girl's scent but was scared to inform Kagome now that he'd lost it. He stopped when he felt a rain drop hit his nose, "Dammit, sorry Kagome her scent is totally gone now and with the rain I won't be able to track her."

She slid off his back and landed on her knees. "It's my fault, I shouldn't have came back, I put her in danger."

Michiko joined her mother on the ground and pulled her in a tight embrace. "It's not your fault mom, we kind of forced you to come. Don't worry Kimi can take care of herself, we will find her if she doesn't find us first. I can feel her mom and she's still alive out there somewhere. We better find shelter, she wouldn't want you to get sick."

"You're right, she'll be fine." Kagome stood and climbed back on Inuyasha's back and they took off to find shelter for the night.
