“I told you I will not be defeated this time, no one has the power to defeat me. And now you too will become one with my flesh and complete me.”

Kagome cradled InuYasha in her lap and fingered some of his silver hair as hot torrents of tears spilled down her face. Tilting her face to the heavens she screamed in anguish. This scream sent chills down Miroku’s spine.

“INUYASHA!!”

Her eyes hooded over in torment as the strong winds whipped around her fragile body, her hair swirled around her upward as memories of InuYasha filtered through her mind. Her lips began to move.

‘Where has the time gone, you can’t leave me like this InuYasha. I love you, I won’t allow you to die like this, I will get you back.’

She began to sing her song, the song she made for her and InuYasha. It was pure and angelic. Pink light encircled her. She grabbed Tetsaigua and laid it over InuYasha’s chest. She stood up and the light seemed to grow bigger and bigger. It seemed the same color as the Shikon Jewel. Her hair twirled around her like the wings of many ravens flying mad into the night sky. Her eyes now no longer had a pupil, she no longer cared who was in the way or not, her grief took control. She wanted this demon dead. She stood up and a bow and an arrow formed into her hands. Like fire it pierced through the barrier she had erected. Tong Dai’s demeanor had changed considerably when he noticed the spiritual powers rising in this young girl.

“No, this can’t be…I’m invincible!”

However the arrow hit him straight into his heart and continued through until it vanished. Then a blast lit up the night sky. It was nothing that Miroku has ever witnessed before. The blast shook the ground, Miroku quickly put up a barrier around he and Sesshomaru. Sesshomaru woke up with a shiver passing through his body. He felt a great loss in his heart somehow. He then noticed that he was in a holy barrier that the monk had activated. He saw Kagome’s naked form floating in the air still causing her spiritual havoc on whatever demon auras were still swirling into the sky. He looked at the monk appreciatively, but wondered why the monk saved him from being killed.

Miroku as of sensing Sesshomaru watching him with question spoke out loud.

“Your InuYasha’s brother. I owe him that much.” He said pain in his voice. Sesshomaru sat up and noticed that the sword his father gave him lay on his chest.

“Did you bring me my sword?”

“No. It was already there keeping your demon essence contained within your body.”

Sesshomaru thought back to what he was doing. He was no where near his sword as he pleasured and received pleasure from the two desirable wenches. He remembered seeing InuYasha dodging Kagome’s attacks being that she was under the spell of Tong Dai. And even though his eyes were devoid he still recalled InuYasha calling out to him. Unfortunately he was paralyzed from being spent. Then he remembered InuYasha jumping toward him and placing the Tensaigua on him.

He looked at his sword and realized that InuYasha spared his life. Again the empty feeling he had in the pit of his stomach made him uneasy. However, his stoic composure remained intact. Miroku wondered what the aristocrat was thinking about, but he just watched as Kagome destroyed every demon and vulgar creature that had anything to do with Tong Dai. Soon he watched her float down to the ground and lay over InuYasha’s body. It began to rain hard and soaked everything in its path. ‘How ironic.’ He thought as he let his barrier down. In grief himself he couldn’t muster himself to move. His friend was dead. And the rain like Kagome’s tears reflected his own.

Kagome now held the Tetsaigua and formed a barrier over her and InuYasha. She found renewed strength and power still coursing through her. She couldn’t remember how to tap into it but she found it. She shivered as the cold rain pelted her body.

“InuYasha, you would have been proud of me. I am not as weak as you think. I defeated him. I defeated him for you. I love you InuYasha. I love you.”

She kept rocking over his body crying. Sesshomaru stood up and put his clothes back on. Miroku sat watching in mourning saying his last words to InuYasha from the distance as the rain soaked his body through.

“I don’t understand why you are all so sad, when the demon has been destroyed?” Sesshomaru voiced inside he knew the answer he just did not wish to face that answer yet on his own. He needed to hear it.

“InuYasha…he’s …” was all that Miroku could say. Again Sesshomaru felt a cold void in his heart. He looked over to Kagome sensing something he didn’t want to know.

“Sesshomaru.”

He heard her speak his name but did not see her speak it. He walked over to her barrier. He stepped through it. He noticed it was a barrier that only allowed him entrance. He heard her sobbing over his brothers’ body.

Kagome felt his presence she turned around and all that met him were big brown eyes filled with tears and torment.

She stood up and flung herself into his broad chest and wept. Hot tears stained into his white Kimono. She caught him off guard that he actually looked astonished. She finally looked up at him and again her eyes tugged at him. For some reason he thought of Rin.

“Sesshomaru, your brother…he…he…” she began crying again. He looked over her head to his brother and it hit him. His brother had no life within his soul. He grabbed Kagome’s arms.

“What happened?” He said angry at seeing his brothers’ blood soak the Earth. His golden eyes made smaller with anger he looked at her to respond. He shook her.

“What happened?”

She couldn’t bring herself to tell him. Miroku this time came up behind them and told Sesshomaru how it happened. Kagome kept crying into the safe place of Sesshomaru’s chest.

Pain hit his soul hard. Sesshomaru never thought that he would react this way upon hearing of his brothers’ demise. It finally hit him that no matter what, InuYasha was his family. His emotions began to torment him, but he refused to let those emotions take over him, for Inuyasha was a tainted embarrassment to his family legacy.

‘Inuyasha, obviously, you were so weak as to let that creature kill you? Over a mortal?’
Then he heard his father’s voice in his mind, ‘isn’t there anything in your life that you would sacrifice your own for?’

Then he felt the pulse of the Tensaigua.

‘Father what are you telling me, you want for me to use the sword again…on InuYasha.’

He looked at his brothers’ form lying lifeless on the ground. The sword pulsed again.

‘No, the sword is reacting to me and my emotions.’

“Please Sesshomaru, he’s your brother, you have to. He’s your younger brother, the only brother you know. Your father gave you that sword to protect your brother; he gave you that sword to protect those who need you the most.” Kagome pleaded pounding futilely into his strong chest.

He looked down into her eyes and saw her pure love for his brother in them. Again they look like Rin’s innocent eyes. He would do anything for Rin to keep her safe, to see her smile. He understood now why his father fell in love with a human. And why InuYasha met the same fate twice. However, he refused to believe that he had feelings for anybody, but it was there. The sword pulsed again.

Sesshomaru removed his fur and placed it around Kagome’s naked form. Unable to feel comfortable with her on his person the way she was. She blushed at his gesture. She sank to her knees as she watched Sesshomaru stand in front of InuYasha. He still battled his feelings. But the more he looked at his brother the deeper he felt a void within his own soul. Then he saw the filthy soul collectors eating away at InuYasha’s flesh. Sesshomaru glared at them.

He took his sword and slashed it across InuYasha’s body three times. Then he knelt beside his brother and placed a tentative hand over his face. He felt him suck in some air. Relived he stood up and walked a distance away thinking to himself.

Kagome and Miroku looked momentarily at Sesshomaru then back at InuYasha.

“InuYasha? Please open your eyes, please.” Kagome pleaded with her hands shaking on her chapped lips.

InuYasha’s golden eyes opened slowly. He focused on Kagome’s face and Miroku’s.

“Kagome…Mi..ro…ku.”

Kagome this time shed tears of joy, as Miroku fell to the ground smiling at InuYasha.

“We thought you found your way to hell my friend.” Miroku said with a lump in his throat his eyes rimming with tears.

“Feh, it takes more than some flower demon to put me there.” InuYasha said jokingly.

“InuYasha don’t say things like that! You were…Sesshomaru brought you back.” Kagome chided gently to him hugging his neck.

“Sesshomaru?” InuYasha said pale from his loss of blood and breath.

“I will be the only one to kill you Inuyasha, remember that!”

“Feh.”

Kagome stood up and walked to Sesshomaru.

“You do care for your brother even though you won’t show it, thank you.” She hugged him one more time no longer afraid of him. He jerked again at being touched by a human. He had a lot to think about. She returned his fur and put on Miroku’s robe.

Soon the rain cleared and seeing someone enter the clearing Miroku had his attention averted as did Sesshomaru and InuYasha.

“Levania, Reena.” Sesshomaru stated in a deadly cold voice. He would slay them where they stood, but he noticed something different about them.

They were covered up with shawls and blankets they found amongst the debris of the castle that had faded away.

“Thank you for freeing us. We remember now where we came from and wish to go back three thousand years in the past, back to our families.” Said Reena.

Miroku blushed as he scratched his head remembering the girls so vividly. As did InuYasha and Sesshomaru. However, Sesshomaru turned so no one would see him. The three of them would remember the girls til… forever.

The two girls turned to Miroku. “Your sutras helped to save us and the strong spiritual blast helped to purify us back to our original state.” Replied Levania

“You have Kagome to thank for the purification.” Miroku said shyly. Kagome looked at all three of the men strangely since they were behaving so weird. Then Levania continued.

“Thank you lady Kagome, we knew where to find you. We felt you call upon our powers to defeat the demon.”

Then Reena finished; “And now that we are free and properly gave our thanks to all of you for all of your good works we want to apologize for any grief we caused your friends.”

The three guys all answered at one time that it was nothing. Again Kagome looked at them weird. She knew something happened and would ask them later, being that she couldn’t remember anything that happened while under Tong Dai’s spell other than finding out the truth and events that lead up to her pain that she wished to forget.

The two girls waved cheerfully and vanished back to their time not remembering them but only in their dreams.

“Ah, I pray for the men who enter their lives, for they will surely bring them pleasure.” Was all that Miroku had said wistfully.

Sesshomaru looked at monk then to the vanished spot of the two priestess women. Then turned into a ball of light to seek out Jaken and retrieve Rin.
