From last chapter:

Her arm was suddenly seized by a clawed hand belonging to a kitsune, while the other was clutched by the inu youkai.

Her you go:

Chapter 9:

Kagome stood still, calm as the wind, and looked at both of the youkai giving them the most threatening glare she could muster.

She looked in each of their eyes. Sesshoumaru still held his emotionless mask as always. But his eyes weren’t. They were gold, but with red threatening to engulf the amber. He was angry with her for hitting him earlier.

‘Didn’t she understand that SHE was the submissive one? Females were ALWAYS overpowered by the males. It has been that way for eternity, and WILL not change.’ But perhaps this was the reason he wanted her so…

But as she turned her head to face Youko, the emotion written on his face was completely different. In his eyes, anyone would be able to tell what was in them. They really WERE the windows to his soul. Sadness and sorrow could be seen. His eyes dashed from left to right, then upwards towards the heavenly sky and then to the solid earth. His eyes were searching for something.

He was lost.

Kagome noticed the desperation in his eyes.

His mind was whirling from the questions floating all around his head. ‘Why did she leave? Did I not promise to protect her? Did I not show her how I felt? Why had I so suddenly changed? Am I really sad because a stupid hanyou doesn’t trust me? Maybe I’m in lov- NO! I am not! I will not allow an emotion so foolish to overpower me and change my life.’

Inuyasha stood there next to Kagome. Staring at the other two holding her hands. His already boiling blood could not take it anymore. “What the HELL do you think you guys are doing!? Get your filthy paws off her!”

Kagome looked at him kindly, and said, “Inuyasha, thank you for being so protective, but I can take care of myself now, and I would appreciate it if you would stop yelling. My ears are already killing me from my earlier outburst.”

Inuyasha blushed, being caught in the act of taking care of his Kagome.

“Let go of me,” she said, “Please,” she said as an after thought.

Youko immediately let go, not wanting to anger her any further. Sesshoumaru on the other hand did not comply with her order. He held on tightly, refusing to let go.

Kagome used her free hand and swiped at him, attempting to force him to release her arm. Instead of slashing at something, her wrist was grabbed once more.

Sesshoumaru and Kagome stood hand in hand, or more like wrist in hand, with 2 VERY jealous males beside them. “You are coming with me,” he said in a very stoic voice.

Kagome looked him up and down, giving him the impression that she was saying ‘who are you to tell me what to do?’ Sesshoumaru immediately comprehended the message and responded to her non-voiced question. “This Sesshoumaru, the Lord of the Western Lands, commands you, an inferior being trespassing on MY territory, to follow me. You are still in my debt.”

Kagome continued to stare at him, irritation becoming visible in every fiber of her being. She tried to calm her nerves by counting backwards from ten, thinking of some place better than where she was, and any other method she could think of, but NOTHING worked.

“My DEAR Sesshoumaru-sama,” she began with sarcasm almost visible to the human eye, “I would LOVE to follow you around and be at your ankles awaiting to serve you, but I have a responsibility where I must remain free and travel with my companions,” she said staring in the direction of Inuyasha and Youko.

The taiyoukai, hearing this comment, went on a frenzy. His eyes seemed to glaze over with anger. ‘This hanyou would still defy him even if she was in his arms where in any given time, he could have killed her?’

“Well, then, if you don’t have any companions, then you could come with me, and I will help you with your quest. Is that correct?”

Without waiting for an answer, he let go of her arms and stormed towards his half-brother with claws drawn. The jealousy that flared around Inuyasha seemed to have slowed down his reflexes. He was barely able to dodge his brother’s attack. His shoulder was scratched and the poison began to seep through. Sesshoumaru did not wait for him to react and charged at him again.

But before he could do anything Kagome beat him to Inuyasha and carried him out of harm’s reach. She sat him beside a tree and faced the taiyoukai. “If you want me to go with you, then your fight is with me!” Kagome yelled.

Sesshoumaru simply stared at her and turned his head away to stare at the fox. The poison in Inuyasha would soon circulate throughout his entire body, probably killing him or paralyzing him for a long period of time.

‘I’ll deal with the other before I take her.’

This time, Sesshoumaru let loose his whip. Youko simply stared at his opponent and mimicked his movement, except he formed a whip from a seed. The two began to stare each other down while Inuyasha was struggling to remain conscious and Kagome watched them intently.

Sesshoumaru was the first to strike. His whip hit Youko square in the chest. Or at least it WOULD have, if Youko hadn’t blocked it. Their fight had been a long distance fight. Whip vs. Whip. Kagome’s eyes could barely keep up with them. Sesshoumaru seemed to have the upper hand. He used his ability to fly to help him move faster.

After many swipes of the whip, there was a halt. Youko was in a partial kneeling position and Sesshoumaru stood across of him whip in hand. “Any last words, fox?” he asked as he raised his whip.

But before he let the fatal blow reach its target Kagome stood in front of Youko, protecting him. With her arms and legs spread apart, Sesshoumaru could not get a clean shot at Youko without harming his prize.

Youko waited for the blow, but it never came. He slowly opened his eyes to discover that Kagome had used herself as a shield.

She stood there, with courage glowing off of her, and looked straight into the lord’s eyes. “I said this is between US! Did you not hear what I said?!”

Sesshoumaru studied her. He was emotionless, but it didn’t mean he didn’t know what emotions WERE and which was WHICH. He saw in her eyes strength coming from something deep within her. Was it… love? Yes, it was. If he defied her now, she would surely rip him to pieces. Losing to a hanyou bitch was worst than losing to his hanyou brother.

Finally understanding that he had no chance to force Kagome into something she didn’t want. He retracted his whip and said, “You are no longer in my debt, Kagome. You may do as you wish, and should we ever meet again, the circumstances would be different. Understand that I have gained knowledge and found that you are not worthy of coming with me. You will stay in the wild and do as you wish.” And with that, he left taking off to the air.

At first Kagome was flaring with madness, until she understood his message. What he said was merely to cover up what he meant to say. He wanted to keep his appearance, he didn’t want to show ANYONE that he would surrender, but he knew deep inside that he was fighting a losing battle.

As soon as he left, Kagome sprang up into action. She sped towards Inuyasha immediately taking off his haori to check on his wound. The poison was spreading quickly; apparently Sesshoumaru's poison had become more deadly than from their last encounter.

Kagome frantically looked inside her bag and took out some first aid material, but couldn’t come upon anything except some cloth and water to clean the wound. There was nothing else she could do; Inuyasha would have to battle the poison himself. She didn’t have an antidote to the poison so she just sat quietly next to him, with tears threatening to spill out of her eyes.

Youko continued to stare in front of him in awe. ‘Why did she save me? What did she do to make Sesshoumaru leave?’ His thoughts were cut in half when a scent overwhelmed his sense of smell, salt.

He finally realized she was crying or about to cry. What was he doing?! ‘I said I would protect her, and I WILL, physically and even emotionally.’ He walked over to Kagome, where she didn’t even acknowledge him.

He pulled a seed out of his hair, and summoned it. “This is an herb that will work against all poisons.” He broke open the stem and the liquid inside began to ooze out. He quickly put the stem to the hanyou’s mouth and force fed him. He ran his hand up and down his throat forcing his unconscious form to swallow the medicine.

A few minutes later, Inuyasha’s eyes began to stir. Kagome looked at Inuyasha eagerly. ‘The antidote worked!’ Kagome smiled with glee and threw herself on Inuyasha. She embraced him with all her might. “Ka-go-me… I c-can’t breathe,” he said. She immediately let go and sat back next to him watching over him as he recovered completely.

Youko witnessed this situation and found it quite uncomfortable. ‘Apparently she loves the hanyou.’ He began to walk away slowly, heart-broken, trying to make himself disappear.

“Youko!” He heard her say. He ignored her cry and continued to walk away.

“Youko!!!” she repeated. But instead of waiting for him to respond or turn back, she ran in front of him and put a hand on his chest. “Please wait,” she paused, “I would like to know if you would like to join us in our search for the shikon shards. I am the guardian of the jewel and I have 3 other companions who travel with me. So, would you join us?”

He knew that he had no chance with her, but he wanted to be with her SOOO badly. And what was a better way than to travel with her. Besides, how could he say no to her? “Yes, I’d gladly join your group and aid you in your search.”

“Thank you,” she responded. She took her hand off of his chest and stared into his eyes.

She crept towards him and hugged him. Youko was caught off guard and stood tense in surprise. “Thank you” she repeated. Reality dawned on her and she let go blushing wildly. “Heh, heh, um… that was for Inuyasha.”

She stopped, “and this, is for joining the group,” she paused, “and for me.”

She tiptoed and brought her lips to his into a small chaste kiss.

She blushed again, and turned back to Inuyasha who was out cold again.

“Come on, Youko, let’s carry Inuyasha back to camp and I’ll introduce you to everyone else.”

He was once again cut in mid-thought when she spoke, waking him up from his stupor. He walked towards her and put Inuyasha’s arm over his shoulder while Kagome did the same with Inuyasha’s other arm.

Their kiss had been a quick one, but it was everything that needed to be said. Kagome’s feelings were thrust into that kiss, and Youko got a clear answer of whether or not she was single or with the hanyou.

They walked off together with Inuyasha in tow, with similar thoughts in their heads. Why did Kagome kiss Youko? Did it mean anything? Why would she protect him from Sesshoumaru? And what was the fire in her that kept her moving?

~~~End of Chapter~~~~
Author’s Note: So? Like? I know! I’m SOOOO SORRY to you Sessy fans, but I couldn’t have THREE people fighting over Kagome, so I had to get rid of one. Besides, this IS a Kurama/Kagome story. I couldn’t have a crossover without having the crossover characters having *something*between them. Then I wouldn’t have made it a crossover in the beginning. Get it?
Well, maybe I’ll write a Sess/Kag Fic next! PLEASE DON’T GET MAD AND STOP READING THIS FIC BECAUSE IT’S NOT SESS/KAG ANYMORE!! PLEASE CONTINUE READING! **On knees begging, with head bowed down**
Any who….
Well, sorry I didn’t update sooner…. I kind of forgot about it. I wrote this last week, and I’m sorry. The holidays are coming up and I’m going to San Francisco, so I PROBABLY won’t be able to get to a computer and type up a chapter and upload it. So I am afraid this MIGHT be the last chapter before new years. SORRY! But I’ll probably write some stuff over break and I’ll post them up one a day or something to make up!
Tell me what you think (and please don’t write SHORT reviews… I want to KNOW what you think; I don’t really like the ones with just “REVIEW SOON! Or GOOD WORK! KEEP IT UP.” I REALLY want to know what you think.)
Have a safe holiday, and never, ever, EVER choke on stupidity. Hehe! ^_^
