Chapter eight, ER!InuYasha pulls up to the hospital he’d been hired at just weeks ago, this being hisfirst day. It was early in the morning, and his shift started in just ten minute - but he
liked the early hours of the day they had always been his favorite time to spend with
himself.Jumping out of his car, he hits the alarm button and steps inside the large white
building and is instantly greeted by a woman, she was cute but nothing like Kagome -
dear Kami there he went thinking about HER again.However, the nurse snaps him out of his thoughts by taking his hand and giving her
name as Nurse Arimi, asking if he’d already been given a tour of his working area.He nods and the woman proceeds taking him upstairs to the dressing room. InuYasha
didn’t mind a helping hand but seriously this woman was getting on his nerves -
jabbering on and on about this and that, many things he already knew about.Quickly tossing his bag into the locker and throwing a stethoscope over his neck he
walks outside, once again greeted by that annoying young woman.This time she does something good for a change, she hands him a white doctors coat
and his name tag and security key. Arimi soon leaves him alone - thank Kami - and InuYasha finds himself getting right
to work, picking up the first patient clip board in the ER room.He never meant to become a ER doctor but somehow when he was at Harvard he
read through the whole program and what he saw he liked - so here he was.~%~Kagome makes her way through the hospital, her first day and everything so far was
great! A nurse by the name of Yuka had helped her get going and she was soon busy
assisting a ER doctor introduced to her as doctor Juang.The name sounded really familiar to her and she asked him on their first break if he
was related to Genteken Juang, the man engaged to Kirara Kaneko.Drinking his coffee the man nodded, yeah that was his brother his full name was
Yang Huang.As they sat there conversing for the small time the break really was, Kagome looked
up and almost spit out the tea she was drinking - not even a few feet away stood
InuYasha.Thankfully he had his back turned against her and she excused herself from a slightly
surprised Yang - half running half jogging out the doorway of the staff rest room.Her heart was slamming against her rib cage, this was not happening he did not work
here. However, when she turned around to go back to work she walked right into a
warm firm chest.Almost tripping backward she felt two strong arms holding her in place and a
concerned voice asking her “Are you okay?”Looking up, sputtering out a apology she nearly bit her tongue when her brown eyes
locked with melted gold.“Kagome?” His voice deep and low, she felt a small quake rumble through her body -
Dear Kami, how he affected her.“Hi InuYasha, I didn’t know you worked here.” She lied, after regaining the ability to
speak and move - she took a large step back out of his strong arms.~%~InuYasha felt like growling at her, she was lying - but why? Maybe she had spotted
him and didn’t exactly feel like talking to him for some odd reason? Whatever the
cause for this lie, he didn’t like it but found himself drinking her presents.She was as beautiful as ever, her hair up in a tidy bun - but some hairs had escaped
the prison of the hairstyle and curled down her slender flawless neck.This time he didn’t have time to get his head into the gutter, as someone called his
name over the intercom telling him to hurry to the ER examination room one.“Well nice talking to you,” Kagome peeped out and soon was gone down the hallway,
InuYasha didn’t have time to debate how to react on that as he now made his way to
the room that had called him.Reaching the room he asked the nurses available what they had there for him, a
small kid had been shot and was bleeding heavily from a large gap in his skull.InuYasha quickly scanned the information and got to work, amazing the people
present with his determination and leadership skills. That moment he earned the
respect and admiration from his new co-workers.~%~Kagome was called to the front to assist another ER doctor that same morning and
she quickly got some serious practice points down, sewing up wounds and helping
with some other small but normal nurse, with no training, stuff. It was even a miracle alone that Kagome had gotten the job she now had, ever since
she was little she had been told that girls didn’t attend collages and universities, of
course she always knew it meant girls like her - trained to become a trophy wife, not
a woman with a career.So when she was offered this job, she had with fierce determination buttered the old
man so much he had finally agreed tr rer request. And right now, she could not
complain - this whole healing stuff came natural for her and it felt good helping
people.However, her shift soon ended as she just got a job covering the first five hours of
the morning in the ER section of the hospital, she was soon on her way home.~%~InuYasha found himself swamped in work and had little or no time to think about
Kagome and all that had happened this morning. Saving four patients in one day
seemed to be a record at this hospital for the people he worked with now worshiped
him like a God.Taking a shower, at the end of his shift in the locker room - InuYasha felt worn out in
a good way. Working had always been one of his favorite things to do, keeping his
hands and mind busy at the same go was always pricelessly rewarding.Braiding his hair he quickly got into a pair of blue jeans and a white Tee, now picking
up his cell as he exited the locker room on his way home.Hitting the speed button to Sesshoumaru’s house he waited for someone to pick up
while taking the stairs instead of the elevator.“Hello?” A small girls voice rang from the other side, making him smirk.“Hey pup!”“Daddy! You comin to pick me up?”“Yup, I am on my way now, get ready okay? We’re going out to eat.” His daughter got all excited at the last part, she loved going out to eat with her dad
alone - it was nice and made her feel really special.
that played on his favorite radio station. His thoughts were on Kagome again as he
drove toward his brothers house to pick up Sorano.Glancing on his radio clock it displayed six pm, and his stomach growled at him for
not feeding it anymore more then some crackers and java the whole day, since
breakfast.Only a few minutes from Sesshoumaru’s grand villa he sees something that makes his
blood freeze, five police cars surrounding an area where two cars had smashed into
each other nose to nose - on the ground laid three bodies covered in bloody white
sheets and an ambulance were present with medical staff lifting in survivors.Quickly he decided to stop the car and ask if they needed his assistance, he was a
doctor after all. Parking in the grass on the other side of the road, InuYasha runs
across and toward the accident instantly greeted by a cop.“Sir I will have to ask you to leave,” the bulky man in a dark blue suite and badge
told him, waving his large hands back and forth.“I am a doctor,” InuYasha explains holding up his ID tag for the man to see, but
before the cop could say anything a woman’s voice calls for him “InuYasha? Come and
assist please!” It was that irritating ER nurse Arimi again, however in this situation
InuYasha found himself liking her.He quickly gets past the cop and walks up to the nurse that had helped him that very
same morning, of course by now she knew about his reputation as it spread like wild
fire through the hospital.She quickly tells him of the situation and he gets to work, amazing even the
ambulance staff with his cleaver mind and skillful fingers. Of course, the ambulance
had limited supplies for making his job easy, but he did what he could and actually
kept two people alive all the way til they reached the ER and could use more means
to save them.Finally after working effortlessly to help the two only survivors of the car crash,
InuYasha sighs and sits down on a green hard bench. He hadn’t forgotten Sorano as
he had asked one of the nurses to call her up and tell her he would be late, but
would contact her after he was done. This was the moment he entered the ER again,
yelling out orders and also keeping his head cool and calm to handle the stressful
situation. Glancing down on the paper a nurse just handed him with the names of the survivors
he reads, “Mr Hojo Yung and Miss Ayumi Haneko.” Frowning slightly at the name Hojo Yung, where had he heard that before? Shrugging
it off he decides to call Sorano to apologize and promise to make it up to her this
upcoming weekend.~%~Kagome reached the house she lived in, but couldn’t call home, around noon.
Walking inside she was greeted by a maid who took her coat and purse. It was silent
otherwise and it made her frown, where was Hojo and Mr Yung?Walking up the stairs to the office she knew usually contained the man who had
taken her in all those years ago, she knocked on the door. When no answer came
Kagome slowly cracked the object open, peering inside.“Mr Yung?”Still no answer, now Kagome inhaled as she looked around the room - it didn’t
appear to have been used that day for the man usually smoked his cigars and there
were none in the claw footed ash trey, standing on the large deep red wooded desk.Closing the door she headed down stairs, asking one of the maids if they knew where
her fiancee were. “I don’t know miss, no one told me anything miss.” The young
woman in a typical black dress and white apron answered, before padding down the
hall disappearing into the kitchen.“Oh well, I’ll just wait then.”gomegome said out loud as she made her way up to her
bed room. Calling and talking to her brother might be a good idea, but wouldn’t he
be in class right now? Of course he would.. Well there went that plan.Not having much time by herself Kagome found herself feeling kind of lonely, what
was she supposed to be doing? Reading? Yeah, that sounded like another good idea,
maybe some forbidden romance novel that Sango had borrowed her - which she now
stored under her bed away from Mr Yung and Hojo’s view.Hours later...Sitting in her room, Kagome almost jumps when a soft knock is heard by the door,
“Come in,” she spoke up after hiding the novel in her pillowcase.“Miss?” It was one of the maids, her face was expressing a look of concern as she now
walked into the room, bowing in respect.“Yes?” Kagome gets out of the bed and walks toward the young lady holding a white
cordless phone.“Is for you miss, it’s the hospital.” The maid peeped before handing the phone over
and walking out the way she came. ‘What would the hospital want at this hour?
They know I can’t work extra, maybe there is some mistake.’ Holding the receiver up
to her ear Kagome answers, “Miss Higurashi here.”“Kagome? Oh dear Kami I didn’t know you lived there.” A female voice belonging to
the nurse Yuka, who she had befriended this very same morning, spoke.“Yuka? What is it?” Now suddenly very nervous of what she might be calling for as
she sounded so surprised - meaning it wasn’t for extra hours.“Hojo Yung, is here in the hospital, he was in a car accidend wed we need you to
come down here.” The woman hurried through the information, now guessing that
Kagome was his sister or even wife as she clearly had a connection to this man.“I am on my way,” Kagome breathed out before killing the call - Hojo in a car crash?
Did he survive? Is he dying? A million questions rushed through her mind as she ran
down the staircase snatching her purse and et fet from the waiting maid.Sticking the key in the ignition she turned the car on and was soon on her way into
