ride home?

Rin sat upon the couch in the group’s private room. Inuyasha and Kagome were sprawled across the couch opposite to her, tongue deep in a tonsil fight as they devoured each other’s faces. Sango and Miroku were across the room, seated at the private bar as they dared each other shot for shot. Rin closed her eyes, leaning her head back. She felt the sway of her black strands as they slid back from her face.

‘Demons don’t exist. It’s just a mask.’ She bit her lip some, lost deep in thought. She had grown up reading the old tales of demons, witches, vampires, and wolves, and as much as she wanted them to be real, she knew they never could. She slumped a bit, crossing her legs as she felt her brain sway in the alcohol induced haze.

Someone dropped down beside her, a swift hint of marijuana filtered into her nose. She raised a brow and lifted her head, gazing up to Kouga as he let out a blue breath of smoke. “You look bummed, Rin…..hit?” He turned to her, offering her the burning roll of paper and herbs.

She cringed a moment, thinking it over before she hesitated in taking it from his grasp. “Thank you.” She whispered and took a heaving lungful. The heat swirled in her, before she released it, feeling her body falling heavier into intoxication. Kouga had shifted, resting back against the couch as he took back the joint, sucking upon it.

Rin sat up a bit, fixing her shirt before she rested back as well. Kouga offered her another hit, smiling brightly before settling his arm behind her. The girl took the joint, looking it over a moment, before she brushed black strands back behind her ear, taking another full hit. She coughed, the smoke filtering out between her lips as she brought her hand to her mouth, trying to suppress the coughing fit.

Another hand reached from her other side, taking the joint as she blinked, growing confused a moment. Her gaze turned, finding the mysterious singer seated by her side as he took his own rip of the joint. His arm reached behind her shoulder, handing Kouga the joint as he leaned to her ear, whispering quietly. “Does it scare you to know a demon is seated next to you?”

She giggled loudly before she scooted a bit upon her seat to face him. “Fuck you, demons aren’t real!! They were made up creatures to scare children into being good.” She nodded matter of factly, before giggling again. “Plus even if you were demon…you wouldn’t make a very good one. You stand out too much!!”

Sesshomaru smiled sweetly at her drunken accusations. His fingers toying with a sliver of fabric upon her skirt before he wrapped it about his er, er, his gaze meeting hers as his brows raised. “Did the stories of demons scare you into being good, Rin?” He grinned some, his fingers unraveling from her skirt as he settled back, sipping his drink as his amber hues watched her.

She turned her head from him, her black hair falling across her cheek masking her face from him. She bit her lip some, her gaze drifting downward as it looked to his hands. The paleness of his skin, the clawed nails jutting from his fingertips. She blinked some, shaking her head as she kept her eyes closed. She slumped a bit, feeling the heaviness of the marijuana sink into her body. ‘Goddammit, Rin. You’re seeing things.’

Sesshomaru watched as the girl sank a bit into herself. Obviously, her sheath of midnight strands masking her thoughts from him. He sensed a shift in her scent. One of fear, dark and musky… and arousal. His brow raised, smirking a bit as fingers moved to tuck silver strands behind his delicately pointed ear, before settling back. “Something wrong, Rin?”

She shook her head and took a deep breath, as if reassuring herself of reality. Her dark chocolate gaze met his ambers as she smiled a bit weakly. Her vision stirred, following the curve of his lip, up along his cheekbone, before she caught sight of his ear. She froze, her brow knitting together as she shifted uncomfortably. Rin saw the silver haired demon before her grin, two fanged tips breaking the lines of his smile. She swallowed the lump in her throat, before she stood, her gaze not daring to look back to him. “Excuse me…but I must be going.”

The girl turned, leaving Sesshomaru upon the couch. He frowned some, watching as she slipped through the door. His fingers curled, clenching his fists before he stood himself. He followed her steps, slipping back out into the smoky atmosphere of the club. Her scent faded some, but allowed him to trail her from a good thirty feet behind her. Rin had made her way outside, leaning against a lamp post as she dialed upon the keys of her cell phone slowly. Her form swaggered, falling a bit from the post as her hand reached up to grab it.

The demon lord grinned devilishly inside himself. His tongue slipped forth, moistening his dry lips as he stepped up behind her. His fingers curled about her phone before plucking it from her grasp. His free arm moved about her waist, predicting her clumsy reaction to his stunt. She froze at his touch, leaning back a bit as she rested upon his arm. “Let me help you get a ride home, Rin.”
