chapter 9
Wow! 14 reviews and 450 hits... I’m so happy! Wheee! *spins in circles until she’s dizzy* Ok, now that I’ve got THAT out of my system: Soranji, I shall try and keep the updates regularly. I know how it feels to be left hanging. Wren; Thank you very much! Again, I shall endeavor to do my best for you all! And I really don’t think there are many good Sango oriented fics out there. Now, this isn’t meant to be an insult to any of the other writers out there, I’ve read some DAMN good Sango fics, but the taijia doesn’t get as much focus as some of the other characters, and I think that’s a shame! I’ll rant more about why I think this at the start of another chapter :P Faychan, Thank you again for the wonderful feedback! I really worked hard to try and give proper motive and characterization in that chapter. As far as finding ENGLISH Inu Yasha episodes, you would have to wait for the DVD release.. since the rights for the series were bought out , even buying fan subs are questionable these days. Fan subs would normally be my best recommendation for people looking to pick up a series cheap. I think you can still legally buy the series from subbers in Australia as the series hasn’t been released there.. I think... Candace: oh, Sess will pay dearly... bwa haha.... Kurt: (no one else has noticed! what a sad world we live in! I grew up with Marvel comics... I think I have somewhere of the neighborhood of 600 issues filed away.) thank you again. ^_^ yeah, its kinda creepy... my professors think I have a little too much insight into the minds of the criminals and the insane... hmm... what does that say about MY mind...
Again, MANY thanks to youkaitsuki for her beta jobs, as well as her input on the behavior patterns of pregnant women.
Inu Yasha raced through the forest, trailing the scent of his beloved. He recognized the salt of tears left in her passing, and found himself cursing Myoga for his stupidity. 'Why in the hell would he say that to Kagome? Why the fuck wouldn't he come to me first before he opened his damn mouth?' he growled to himself. He came to a skidding halt, Kagome's scent had changed directions several times through this area. 'Isn't the wench looking where the hell she's running? Chikuso, Kagome, I thought you were smart enough not to run around the damn woods in the dark.' He leapt into the air, soaring high above the canopy of trees to sniff out where his reckless woman was now. He became distressed when the faint scent of her blood reached him, and hurried in the direction where the scent was strongest.
He entered the clearing that surrounded Goshinboku, and discovered his wife sitting alive and relatively well among the tree's roots. She had her back against the trunk, her head tilted back as she stared up at the sky, and her knees tucked up as far as her distended belly would allow. He scanned her form, noting that the blood smell came from the gashes on her hands and knees. 'She fell!' he realized, alarmed that in her state she could be more seriously injured than could be detected with the eye. "Kagome!" he called out, a hint of fear tainting his voice.
He was at her side quickly, evaluating the severity of the scrapes and running his hands over her to check for other injuries. Kagome for her part sighed and allowed her husband to examine her, knowing that if she protested or fought it, he would still get his way anyways. It simply wasn't worth the energy to argue when he was only concerned for her and the baby's safety. He pulled up her shirt to check the skin of her stomach for any injury, and leaned over, tilting one triangular ear so that it would be pressed against her belly. The baby's heartbeat was strong and steady. Satisfied, he pulled away and readjusted her clothing.
He glared at her a few moments, allowing the sharpness of his anger for her recklessness show in his eyes. Kagome met his eyes with her saddened ones. She broke the eye contact, unable to face him at the moment. She knew what she did was foolish. It was also difficult to look at him after some of her earlier thoughts on Myoga's so called solution. "Inu Yasha... I know.. I was careless. I couldn't possibly feel any worse about it than I already do, so please don't start."
"I wasn't going to." he replied, but his tone told her he wouldn't forget this incident any time soon. They were silent for a few tense moments, each unsure where to start. "Myoga... he told me what he said to you.... there is no excuse for that... it was wrong for him to just say that to you." Inu Yasha paused, gauging her reaction. He knew this was a sore spot for her. It was too much like with Kikyo. “What he was talking about is a last resort. Sango is my friend, and I will do all I can to help her, but I do NOT want to do what Myoga said unless I have to.”
Kagome sniffled and tried to keep from crying again. “Do you.... do you like her?” Inu Yasha was taken aback by that last comment.
“What the hell is that supposed to mean?” he exclaimed, instantly confused and irritated by Kagome’s question.
“Well... I mean.... do you....” ,she paused a moment, tears spilling freely and her bottom lip trembling slightly. “that is... if you did have to marry her... would you find her attractive?” Inu Yasha blinked at her, dumbfounded. His jaw went slack, and his eyes became impossibly wide for a few moments before he tried to stammer out a response. His mouth started to form words, but for a second, no sound came out.
“..Na... Na... NANI?”
tbc....
I know. I am the epitome of evil. There is a reason why I ended it here. Citrus goodness in the next chapter... if I'm feeling generous. Bwa hahaha!
