Chapter 9:Caught In The Act

Thanks to her demonic healing ability, Yasha's wound healed physically. Being betrayed by her uncle was a different story. "So it was Sesshomaru that gave me this staff," she said one afternoon while she and Inuyasha gathered firewood for the campfire. He nodded. "Said you needed it," he said. "You were six months old when he brought it to me." She studied it for a moment. "Just like Tetsusaiga keeps you from being full demon, so does this for me," she noticed. "Changing the subject," he said seriously. "What's this with you and Shippo?"

She froze suddenly, but released a little grunt from her lips. "What do you mean?" she asked trying to brush off the question. "We're best friends." "Last time I checked, there was more than friendship going on," he said raising an eyebrow. "I saw him kiss you and that wasn't a friendly kiss. It was the kind when you're in love." She sighed. "Is there something I should know?" he asked. "Papa, it's a crush," she said seriously. "It hasn't gone too far." "It better not until you're old enough to choose a mate," he said sternly. "Speaking of which, are you gonna choose Kagome for your mate?" she asked causing a look of shock to run across his face.

"Yasha Sierra, I'm surprised you asked such a question!" he said in surprise. "Well, I can't help it," she said with a helpless shrug. "I'm four years old. We ask strange questions." "Who told you that?" he chuckled. "Uncle Miroku and Aunt Sango," she said. She referred to the two that way since she grown close to them. "Besides, I think Kagome's a good mate for you. I can tell in her eyes she loves you although you both are too stubborn to admit it. Uncle Miroku said that last part." She finished gathering her part and walked to camp leaving her father to his thoughts.

Shippo was playing with a new toy he discovered in Kagome's backpack since she often brought the kids interesting things from her world. "What is that?" Yasha asked walking to him. "A racecar is what Kagome calls it," he said. "She says in her world, people drive these things for fun." He handed her one and she studied it. "I never heard of the sort," she said frowning. "Her world must have things that people in this world would think are crazy." "I wish I could see her world," he sighed. "You're lucky. You, Inuyasha, and Kagome have that ability." She shrugged. "It's too crazy if you ask me," she said. "Why would you say that?" Kagome asked lifting Yasha in her arms. "Your world has so many things I could never imagine here," Yasha answered. "I could never understand them at all." "One day you will," Kagome said kissing Yasha's cheek. Inuyasha watched the two and smiled. He was glad Kagome had taken Yasha in as well as she has.

"Yasha, have you taken your bath tonight?" he said. "I just gave her one," Sango said. "All right," he said. "Kagome, come with me." "Sure," she said putting Yasha down and the two walked off. Yasha and Shippo looked at each other smiling. "Should we follow?" she asked. "We both can shape shift." He nodded when Miroku pulled them aside. "Keep me posted," he whispered. The two nodded and turned into birds flying off. They found Inuyasha and Kagome deep in the forest talking and sat hidden in a tree watching them.

"You know, Yash is quite fond of you," he said seriously and she nodded. "She never got along with Kikyo," he sighed. "I guess because she was aware that she abandoned us and she looked to me for comfort. Now that you're here, she comes to you as well and she hardly latched on to someone so easily." She chuckled. "She seems to know what she wants," she said causing him to look at her. "She's like me," he said studying her. "Kagome, I know I've acted like a jerk in the past and many times I've pissed you off. But I know in my heart this is right." He grabbed her hands gently and held them in his lap. "Kagome, I love you," he said seriously. "It isn't because you remind me of Kikyo or anything of the sort. It's like my daughter knew all along that we belonged together and she was trying to get us to be together, but I was too stubborn to see it for awhile. But you've done so much for us and you've broke the chains around my heart that never could break. Please stay with me. Not just for her sake...but for mine as well."

Kagome studied the seriousness of his face and she didn't see Kikyo there. It was her in his eyes and she couldn't help smiling. "Do you love me?" he asked. Without hesitation, she nodded. "Yes, I love you," she whispered. He brought a hand to her face pushing back strands of black hair from her features and brushed his lips on hers in a passionate kiss. He leaned against her body and they fell to the ground. He broke the kiss panting as he caught his breath. "Kagome, I want to mate with you," he whispered. "Won't you get pregnant again?" she asked in confusion. He shook his head. "It's a once in a lifetime deal," he said. "I can't get pregnant since I'm on birth control," she said. "Then we got a good thing," he said. He leaned down brushing his lips on hers in a passionate kiss again while fingering the zipper of her skirt.

Yasha and Shippo were still in the tree and watched the two making love. That was when they made a hasty exit and headed back to camp. "Ugh!" she said in disgust. "How in the world could they do that?" "I don't know," he said shaking his head. "It looked more like a naked dance than anything else," she said seriously. "Do people in love really do that?" "Do what?" Miroku asked behind them. The look on their faces told him what happened. "Ah, so you caught them in the act," he said. "In the act of what?" Yasha asked. "Uh, you two are a little young to understand," he sighed. "It was your fault sending us as your spies!" Shippo shouted angrily. Inuyasha and Kagome walked to them frowning. "What happened?" he asked. Yasha opened her mouth, but Miroku slapped a hand over it to keep her from saying a word. "Nothing, Inuyasha," he said brightly as the couple walked off.

"Whatever you do, don't say a word to either of them, understand?" he hissed. Yasha and Shippo nodded. "You have candy as payment," he whispered. They grinned then. "You have a deal," Shippo said seriously. But Sango was the one who told on him. Inuyasha and Kagome glared at the monk then. "Well, I was making sure you two didn't fight or they'd have to pull you apart," was his defense. Yasha and Shippo rolled their eyes as they ate dinner. "Sure," they said together sarcastically. Miroku blushed. "Next time, we'll fill you in," Inuyasha sighed. "Don't send two spies on us." "Sure thing," Miroku said. "No hard feelings?" "Not this time," the hanyou said seriously. "Papa, what exactly were you two doing?" Yasha asked. "It looked like a naked dance." "It was and you only do it when you're our age," Kagome said. "When you and your mate are in love, that's what you do." Shippo and Yasha studied each other then. "I don't think so," they said together. "What?" Inuyasha protested. "How do you think you two came around?" "You and Kikyo did that to make me?" Yasha asked in complete shock. "Yes dear," he said. She frowned suddenly. "If I had to go through that much trouble to have kids, I'd consider adoption," she said seriously causing the adults to laugh hard then. Yasha and Shippo just gave them confused looks and not another word was mentioned about it.
