Prompt Summary: Inuyasha introduces them to another member of his family.

The rest of the trip toward Inuyasha's home went in silence as the three of them became lost in their own thoughts. Their host was wondering what would be for breakfast when he saw the sun just beginning to peak over the horizon.

Jakotsu, upon noticing the dawn as well, found himself wondering exactly how late they had gotten there that night if it was already the next day. Bankotsu wondered about the possibilities the new day would bring them. There were good possibilities; such as the work being easier than he was expecting or him making a new friend with Inuyasha.

But there were also the bad possibilities; such as the brother deciding he didn't want them working for him after all and them ending up back at square one or his wanted poster making its way into the hands of someone here. As much as he did not want to hold onto the negative, Bankotsu knew his luck could only hold out for so long.

Perhaps he would be lucky enough to manage to not be arrested or killed until he had avenged the murder of his parents, but he was certain it would not be much longer than that. There was a bullet out there somewhere, at this very moment, with his name on it; he had simply yet to meet the man holding the gun.

Realizing Inuyasha had stopped and was dismounting, Bankotsu turned his attention back to the present and did the same; before helping Jakotsu down. As he began hitching up his horse beside Inuyasha's, all of their attention was drawn to the soft sound of approaching feet. Glancing up, they spotted a young woman making her way toward them while wiping flour off on her already dirty apron.

"Boys, I'd like ya to meet my sister-in-law," Inuyasha introduced as the young woman graced the two strangers with a smile before turning her attention back to Inuyasha.

"Will we be having guests for breakfast?" she inquired, smiling politely when the two began trying to insist that she needn't bother for their sake.

Apparently deciding to ignore the objections, Inuyasha replied, "Yeah, set aside two helpings to be brought out to them. You two," he turned to look back toward his guests, "are gonna be needing your strength if you plan on getting started today. I rather doubt you got much sleep last night.

"I'd invite you in to dine at our table, but to be honest you're better off out here watching the sun rise. Meals are meant to be enjoyed, not to be eaten in uncomfortable silence."

"Inuyasha, how many times do I have to tell you not to insult your brother? He isn't the monster you make him out to be, you know," the woman insisted, giving Inuyasha a disappointed look, which he chose to ignore.

"Kagome," he began using the same exasperated tone she had used when saying his name a moment before, "you only think so because you up and married him. Sesshoumaru is a required taste and, so far, you are the only one who's acquired it.

"Oh behave, Inuyasha. We wouldn't want any of those bad manners of your to rub off on your guests," she insisted before sending them another quick smile. "I better head back inside before your wife comes looking for me." Without waiting for a reply, Kagome turned and began making her way back inside the main house.

Almost as if she had never been there, Inuyasha turned back to them and picked up exactly where he had left off. "I'll show you two where you will be staying and the part of the fence that needs repairs before we eat. Knowing her, we've got a little while," Inuyasha insisted before showing them into the barn.

Note: The sentence 'There was a bullet out there somewhere, at this very moment, with his name on it; he had simply yet to meet the man holding the gun.' while not a direct quote, is based on a quote from Firefly. The quote is from the episode 'the message' and is as follows: 'Everybody dies, Tracey. Someone's carryin' a bullet for you right now, doesn't even know it. The trick is, die of old age before it finds you.' I do not own this quote; obviously.
