Safe with Wolves

Author's Note: I AM SO SORRY IT'S BEEN A WHILE SINCE I LAST TOUCHED THIS! FORGIVE ME! I've just been busy and with a recent pet passing...yeah. Anyways, hope you guys can enjoy this shirt chapter!

When Inuyasha opened his eyes, he was on familiar furs. He was confused for a moment, the last thing he remembered was showing off his father’s fang to Shippo’s friends. Then, Scarface appeared…

His eyes widened as he shot right up as it all came back to him. Those wolves that came, that caused him to lose his sword- caused him to lose himself and snapped into his demon state. Was he remembering everything? Was there something he wasn’t? Did he hurt anyone else? Did he turn his fangs and claws against Shippo- against Kouga-

“Hey, dog breath, you’re alright.” a sudden voice breathed against his ear. “Everyone’s fine, you didn’t go after anyone outside of the little group. You’re kit’s safe, the pups are safe. Just calm yourself.”

He felt a warm hand against his back, grounding him. He took a couple of deep breaths in, taking in Kouga’s familiar scent. “How long have I been out?”

“A good few hours. The sun has almost set now.”

“Where’s Shippo?”

“He’s with his friends. I had to bribe him to leave your side.” 

“And Scarface?”

Kouga snorted at the other’s name for the wolf. “He’ll be punished for not heeding my words, that I can promise you. I do not take someone disobeying my words lightly.”

“I’m…I…” Inuyasha trailed off, trying to apologize but apologies didn’t come to him naturally, they never did him any good in his childhood. Thankfully, the wolf got the message.

“Hey- no. You do not apologize. You didn’t ask for this, I know that. It was the fuckers’ faults, not yours. They’re the one who pushed you, who went after your kit. Any parent would have reacted similarly- without the turning into a full demon thing.” 

Inuyasha huffed, turning his head to say something to the other before he stilled once he felt the other’s breath against his lips and he realized just how close their faces were. Neither moved or said a thing, they just stared at each other, their breaths mingling.

He didn’t know what to think about their close proximity, or why his heart seemed to flutter all of a sudden, something he was sure it didn’t do before…pretty sure.

“Want me to bring Shippo to you?” Kouga suddenly asked as he pulled away, breaking whatever that had a hold of them.

“...Yes.” Inuyasha watched as Kouga went to do just that and took a deep breath, pushing whatever had just happened aside. No, that doesn’t matter, not now.

A few minutes later, Shippo bounded over and latched onto him before launching into how his day was been, thoroughly distracting Inuyasha, which he was grateful for and he listened with rapt attention, never noticing Kouga leaving.
