~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Kagome took a deep breath as she stood looking in her full-body mirror. A blush slightly tinged her cheeks as she stared at herself adorned in the white frilly bra and matching panties. Her sister had once, and only once, told her that girls who wear red or black panties were ‘uncouth women with no morals’ and the girls who wore underwear of light pink, blue or white colors were ‘innocent and unassuming’. Kagome shook her head, wondering if Kikyo honestly believed that. She knew her older sister definitely wouldn’t if she heard half the things the girls talked about in the locker room, with their various colors of garments. Nonetheless, Kagome didn’t want to be seen as ‘fast’ or anything. Another thought crossed her mind; why did she care about what underwear she was wearing? All she was doing was going out to lunch with Koga! She clenched her eyes shut, forcing away any thoughts of anything beyond lunch with him. It’s true; she found him attractive and he’d done so much for her in gym class in the past week, such as carrying her to the nurse’s office when she sprained her ankle, but to be anything more than pupil to him? Kagome put her hands to her cheeks to keep the heat from rising too much, but it was difficult; Koga was a man. A handsome, sincere man who wore his heart on his sleeve. Kagome headed to her closet and opened it. He was everything Inuyasha wasn’t and in Kagome’s mind, it was getting clearer and clearer that she was starting to lose patience with the Hanyou. After some time, Kagome was dressed and taking a long look into her mirror once more. The black, pleated mini skirt was about the same length as her school uniform skirt and the white, thick-strapped camisole gave her cleavage a small, but not obscene, boost. Kagome turned around several times; she’d never had any reason to dress up except for festivals and even then, she usual wore her priestess robes. Kagome grabbed her black purse, a pair of strappy black platform sandals. As she hurried down the stairs, she passed by the living room where Kikyo was sitting, watching the news and drinking tea.
“I’m leaving now, Kikyo.”
Kikyo turned to face her, smiling at her. At last, Kagome was starting to look like an actual teenager. Kagome poked her head in and looked around, almost as if she were disappointed.
“Where’s Inuyasha?”
”He went back to his time for a few hours. He’ll be back tonight.”
”Why can’t he just stay there?” Kagome sighed.
“Kagome, I know you’re upset at him, but I’m sure he means well.”
Obviously, Kagome thought, Kikyo had no clue what had been going on. Or, maybe she had; if Kikyo was anything, she was insightful. Kikyo coughed a little and that’s when Kagome noticed it; she was looking a little pale.
“Kikyo…are you alright?” Kagome asked, kneeling down by her side.
Kikyo gave a small nod. In all honesty, she wasn’t, but why alarm Kagome of why? Inuyasha was already in a tizzy. Kagome put a hand to Kikyo’s forehead. She didn’t seem to have a fever; maybe it was the season transition from winter to spring.
”Are you sure? I can always run out and get something.”
”I’ll be fine, Kagome. You should hurry, you don’t want to keep Koga waiting, do you?”
Kagome stood up hesitantly. She had a sinking feeling in the pit of her stomach, but maybe it’s because she was both excited about seeing Koga and nervous about leaving Kikyo alone. After some more prodding on Kikyo’s end, Kagome slipped on her sandals at the door and headed off. She could feel the wind change and knew Inuyasha had returned back from his time. As she passed by the Goshinboku, she noticed Inuyasha approaching her. Both stopped, looking at each other for a minute before Kagome continued to walk.
“Are you going on your date?” Inuyasha simply asked.
”Yeah, I’ll be back later.”
Without thinking, he grabbed Kagome’s wrist as she walked past him.
“Kagome, I…!”
Kagome turned to look at him. He almost looked lost, as if he weren’t sure what he wanted, or what he wanted to say. He sighed, releasing Kagome’s wrist.
“Just be safe.”
Kagome had to admit, she was surprised. Was that it? He was just going to let her go without an argument? Kagome hesitated for a second before she continued to walk on. It was almost noon before she finally reached Shibuya. She got several looks from interested boys and jealous girls as she waited in front of the train station. Several guys tried hitting on her, but she always had to explain to them that she was waiting for someone. But when one got a little too pushy, Kagome found herself saved from making a scene when she felt a strong hand on her shoulder pull her backwards.
“Excuse me, didn’t she say she was waiting for someone?”
Kagome blushed, recognizing the voice almost instantly. She turned around, seeing the ever cool, calm and confident (if not cocky) Koga standing there. She had to admit, he looked hot when he wasn’t wearing his usual green jumpsuit. No, he’d substituted that for a pair of black jeans, a white t-shirt and a black, denim jacket. Kagome didn’t know he could look so cool without even trying. Kagome could faintly smell a refreshing cologne; okay, maybe he did try a little bit. When the guy finally backed off, Koga put his full attention on Kagome; had they been in school, he would have to reprimand her for violating the dress code, but he had to admit, she looked cute when she was casually dressed. Even though in platforms, she was barely past his shoulders, he maintained his tall height above her.
“Sensei…! Thank you.”
“First of all, call me by my first name. We’re not in school or anything like that.”
Kagome blushed a bit before nodded.
“O…okay, K…Koga.”
He grinned as if he hit the jackpot. He began walking, Kagome following in step beside him.
“So, where would you like to go for lunch?”
“Well, somewhere inexpensive; I don’t have much on me.”
”Please, put your wallet away. I’m treating you, remember?”
Kagome smiled sheepishly as they continued to walk. Kagome vaguely recognized a few students from her school, probably wondering what she was doing with the hottest teacher in the region and in Shibuya nonetheless. Kagome almost felt proud, but…not as proud as she would feel if it were Inuyasha by her side. Koga pointed out a nice restaurant in the distance and Kagome did some mental yelling; why think about that idiot Inuyasha? She was with Koga and that’s all she needed to focus on! Koga led her into the restaurant where they found a nice little booth to sit at. Kagome sat down, feeling somewhat excited. The ‘Shibuya Junction’ was a popular, but expensive restaurant. Was this a date? A perky waitress came over to take their order. Koga ordered a soda and Kagome ordered a cream soda milkshake; she’d never tried a milkshake before, and she’d never tried cream soda before, so she decided to be bold. They didn’t have much time to talk before the waitress returned with their drinks. She was making eyes at Koga, although a bit jealous that he was busy making eyes at Kagome while she decided on what to eat. After she took their orders and their menus, she headed off, leaving Koga and Kagome to talk.
“So, Kagome-Chan, what do you think of your new school?”
”I really enjoy it. Everyone’s very nice, even though the classes are a bit hard.”
”Well, we are sorta a college prep school. Any choices for high schools?”
”Hakuru High…”
Koga chuckled slightly, receiving him an odd stare for Kagome.
“What’s so funny?”
“Well, it’s just that the uniform for Hakuru high school is well…”
He gave Kagome a slight smile as he rested the side of his cheek gently on his hand. He glanced out of the window and motioned with his head to follow what had caught his attention. Kagome nearly spit out her drink when she saw two girls standing near the restaurant. Both girls were dressed in regulation uniforms; complete with dark red, plaid mini-skirts, white, short-sleeved blouses and red ties. Both girls wore baggy white socks and black penny loafers. Kagome blushed; she couldn’t imagine wearing such a mature school uniform…
“You’d look good in it, is all I’m saying,” Koga said, turning his attention back to her, a small smirk gracing his lips. “God knows you’ve got the right legs for them.”
Kagome blushed; talk about stepping outside of the teacher/student relationship. Their waitress brought them their food and quickly excused herself when she saw the blush on Kagome’s face and the smirk on Koga’s.
“So, Kagome, how do you like your food?”
Kagome twirled her seafood alfredo around her fork. She gave him a nod of pleasure after she swallowed it.
“It’s good. How’s your steak?”
”Great, not too sweet, not too tangy…Unlike you.” He smirked.
“Excuse me?” Kagome asked, setting her fork down.
“You don’t have to play coy; it wasn’t like I wasn’t standing there when you let your sister’s boyfriend have it. You have the face of an angel…but watch out if you get pissed.”
Kagome huffed, turning her attention out of the window. The two Hakuru students had left, being replaced by a cute couple, probably wondering where to go. Would she ever get to that point in her life?
“It’s just…I don’t like to be toyed with.”
“Ah, I see.”
Kagome turned her attention back to Koga who gave a slight nod as he leaned back in his seat.
“So, you’re in love with Inuyasha, aren’t you?”
“L…love…?!”
Kagome quickly looked down, grabbing her fork and spooning a mussel on her plate.
“N…no, I just like him a lot. Besides, the way he’s been acting has me really question if I even still like him or not!”
“Nevermind the fact he’s your sister’s man, right?” he chuckled.
Kagome sighed, turning her head away in a pout. Koga had to admit; even with those lips of her pouted out, she was still cute.
“Well, what do you expect? I’ve know Inuyasha since I was a little girl! He’s always been so nice to me.”
“You shouldn’t mistake kindness for more intense feelings.”
This time, when Kagome looked back at Koga, a snapping retort on her tongue, she saw he’d positioned both of his elbows on the table, resting his chin on his hands. His intense, green gaze was penetrating and Kagome was almost afraid to inquire further into the question she couldn’t keep from escaping her mouth…
“What…what do you mean?”
”Let’s face it; growing up on the shrine, I’m sure you had little to no interaction with other guys, right?”
”Well…yeah, but I did attend school and stuff…”
“Yeah, yeah, but you know what I mean. Having Inuyasha around when you were a child gave you the only actual male interaction. Of course you’d start to develop feelings for him.”
“Well, don’t we just know everything?” Kagome sneered.
“Nope, there’s one thing I’m still sort of left in the dark about…”
Kagome glanced at him and saw he was just as serious as ever.
“Why a beautiful young girl like you is so captivated by a guy who doesn’t seem to care for you all that much. A girl your age should be getting excited about high school and boys who are falling all over themselves just to get a chance to talk to you.”
Kagome blushed, nearly choking on her drink. She set it down, wondering if he was just teasing her.
”W…what are you talking about? Guys don’t do any such thing!”
”Well, of course not…that’s because they know they’d have to go through me to get to you and who’s gonna challenge me?”
Kagome’s blush only intensified as she looked down at her lap. She clenched her black skirt nervously. What was he trying to tell her…?
“You’re beautiful, charming, have a smile that just won’t quit and well…you’re the kind I wouldn’t mind having for my woman.”
“You…your what?” her head quickly snapped up.
“My. Woman.”
He put his hand on her resting on the table; her hand was surprisingly smooth for someone who did archery and used quite a few weapons. Kagome noticed with slight chagrin that his hand almost covered her entire one and her mind wandered to a conversation she’d overheard in the locker-room…then again, now was not the time to be wondering if his big hands meant something else completely different.
“I know I’m a little older, but you know what, who cares? I sure as hell don’t. You’re smart, funny…beautiful.”
Kagome turned her head once more with a sigh.
“If you want smart, beautiful and funny, you want Kikyo.”
”I don’t want Kikyo, dammit, I want you. Why can’t you have more confidence in yourself? That you’re just as beautiful, kind and smart as Kikyo? If you didn’t, I wouldn’t be risking my balls like this.”
“But…but I don’t think…Y…you’re so much older than me…a…and what would everyone at school say…?”
”No one at school would have to know. We could hang out just like this; I could come to your place and you could come to mine.”
”But even still, this is dangerous! What is someone sees us?”
He raised his hand to her cheek and his gaze became adamant.
“Damn, you think way too much. Alright, how about this; one week.”
”A week…?”
”You got it. One week for us to ‘act’ like a couple. We’ll take this day by day, adding on things actual couples do. At the end of the week, if you decide you’d rather just see me as ‘Koga-Sensei’, that’s alright. Besides, maybe this will give you and Inuyasha time to come to your senses.”
Kagome looked down, but didn’t pull away from his touch. It was just a trial relationship, right? There was no harm in that…
“Plus, think about how jealous Inuyasha would get…”
That was all it took to convince Kagome further.
“I…I guess there wouldn’t be any harm in it…”
“Good. So, tomorrow after school, how about I drop by your place? I can watch you train or something.”
”I…I guess that’d be okay.”
”Plus, I have to announce our relationship to your sister.”
”Oh, God, don’t!” Kagome’s eyes widened in embarrassment.
“Why not?”
”Aren’t we just ‘pretending’?”
”Kagome, anything I do with you will be far from pretending.”
There was a deeper meaning in his words that Kagome didn’t even want to begin to contemplate.
“So, can you cook?”
Snapped out of her thoughts by the sudden question, she saw Koga smiling at her.
“Yeah, but why…?’
”Well, I’d like to try some of it, since I’ll be over there. What do you say?”
Kagome couldn’t help but feel excited. There would actually be a boy…no, a man over, courting her and being her boyfriend. Kagome nodded with a smile.
“Sure, what’s the harm?”
”Is it poison?”
”Koga!”
”I’m kidding. You’re cute when you’re all excited. Well, wanna get going? I don’t wanna keep ya from anything Kikyo has planned for you.”
“Sure.”
Kagome headed for the door while Koga paid the bill. The wandered around Shibuya for a little while longer until sunset finally came. As they stood on the train platform, Kagome contemplated what she’d say to Inuyasha once they got home. Without a doubt, he’d be furious, yet when she’d left this morning, he didn’t give her much hell about it. She turned to the sky for guidance; what did Inuyasha really want from her? It was starting to get frustrating, that was for damn sure. The train ride seemed to go quickly and before she knew it, they were walking home. Somewhere along the walk, Koga took her hand. Kagome stopped for a minute, looking up at him. When did he begin to look more like a man in her eyes? As they approached the shrine, hand-in-hand, Kagome looked up at the large shrine steps.
”Well… I guess this is it.”
“Lemme atleast walk you up that mountain you call ‘stairs’.”
Kagome giggled and nodded her head. They’d made it to the very top when Koga noticed the sunset.
“Man, you can see everything from here, can’t you?”
“Yeah, I like it a lot…”
Koga turned to look at Kagome; she looked so much like a beautiful young woman in the silhouette of the setting sun, he almost couldn’t control himself. He took both of her hands and sighed.
”So…for day one, was holding hands good enough or do you wanna take it a step further?”
“Step further?”
“How about a kiss? We don’t even have to do it with tongue.”
He chuckled as a small shade of crimson painted itself across her cheeks. She looked down at the ground, wondering if she really should. Kikyo would be disappointed in her, but at the same time…
“Kagome, I wanna know something…”
”What?” she looked up for a second.
”Why do you always think so less of yourself?”
”I just…”
Kagome turned her head for a second, but Koga wouldn’t let her as he bracketed her head between his hands gently.
“Kagome, if you’re gonna be my girl, you’ve gotta have more confidence in yourself. You’re every bit as kind, smart and as beautiful as Kikyo. That’s why I chose YOU. Do you believe me?”
Kagome gave a shy nod. She closed her eyes when she felt Koga’s lips gently brush her forehead. She looked up slightly, placing her hands against his chest. He released her for a second, placing her hands on her shoulders. Maybe with this kiss, he thought, he could inspire her to feel better about herself. When Kagome felt his lips upon hers, she wondered if he could hear her rapid heartbeat or her thoughts of how she just wanted to relish in the thought of someone caring about her…and actually her. The kiss lasted no longer than five seconds, but to Kagome, it seemed longer. Koga pulled slowly away from her, giving her a content smile.
”I’ll…see you tomorrow, Kagome.”
”Okay,” she barely whispered.
She watched from the top of stairs as he descended them until he was out of sight. With a slight, dreamy sigh, she headed inside. She barely announced her presence as she took off her sandals and carried them up the stairs.
“Kagome-Chan, is that you?”
Kikyo emerged from the kitchen with a smile on her face and appearing to look much better.
“Yeah, I’m home,” Kagome nodded, turning around on the stairs that led to he room.
”How was your day with Koga-San?”
”It was…good.”
Kikyo noticed that look Kagome had in her eye as her younger sister’s eye as she replied. It was almost as obvious as the ‘secret’ smile she wore upon her face.
“I’m glad. Would you like something to eat?”
”No, I’m fine. How are you feeling?”
”Much better, thank you. Inuyasha brought a few remedies from his time.”
”I see…So where is he?” glancing around for any sign of him.
”He returned back to his own time, but he should be back later. I do hope he returns soon; it’s supposed to rain quite a bit tonight.”
Kagome sighed, giving a small shrug.
“Well, I’ll be upstairs in my room. Let me know if you need anything, okay?”
”Alright.”
Kagome continued up the stairs and all but threw herself on the bed. As she laid on her stomach, holding her pillow. She was so tired, she could barely think straight…all she could think about was the kiss. She closed her eyes, the urge to calm her rampant thoughts by sleeping becoming too much as she gave herself over to sleep.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
“Inuyasha, I warned you that it was going to rain.” Kikyo sighed as she toweled off Inuyasha’s now-black hair.
“Feh, so sue me. I got back later than I thought. It’s only a little after midnight. Anyway, where’s Kagome, she back from her ‘date’ yet?” he huffed.
He began to undo his kimono until he was topless. Kikyo moved behind him and began drying off his back. She had to admit, she was tired and wanted to yell at Inuyasha for waking her up so late, but the last thing she wanted him to do was catch a cold.
“I believe Kagome is quite taken with this young man, this, Koga Okami. I believe he is something good for Kagome.”
”Good?! Kikyo, he’s almost seven years older than she!” he turned around to face her.
“And you are almost five-hundred years older than I am.” She reminded him.
“That’s not the point…!”
”Then what is the point, Inuyasha?” Kikyo asked, her eyes meeting his.
Inuyasha heaved a sigh before standing up.
“I just don’t want your kid sis to fall in love with some pedophile.”
”Inuyasha, why don’t you go take a bath? You’ll warm up and I’m sure you’ll have a lot of time to reflect as well. Bathing cleanses the body and the soul.”
Inuyasha gave her a small nod. Kikyo stood up to prepare his bath, announcing she’d fix him tea while he was in there. Inuyasha thanked her and headed towards the downstairs bath when he noticed some light peeking through the crack of Kagome’s bedroom door. Kagome’s light was still on. Why was she still awake? He headed upstairs and, assuming she was still awake, entered without so much as knocking.
“Yo, Kagome…”
He quickly quieted down when he saw she’d fallen asleep…on her side, with her black skirt hiked up around her thighs enough so he could see her panties. He groaned, grabbing the blanket at the end of her bed and prepared to put it over her. Why did this girl always make life so hard for him? She groaned in her sleep, turning over slightly, resting on her back now. Inuyasha froze; seeing her cleavage bunched up the way it was, he rationalized that any other healthy man, demon or hanyou would have done the same. He hovered over her for a minute before looking around and listening; he could hear Kikyo in the kitchen and the only other sound he could hear was the rain falling outside of the window. He leaned down, kissing her gently, put pulled himself back as if he’d kissed poision; her lips…her lips had already been taken by that damn Koga! He closed his eyes, turning away from her for a moment before looking down at her sleeping face.
“So…he’s kissed you, has he? I oughta wipe off every trace of him ever touching you…” he smirked ruefully.
Kagome groaned a little in her sleep, a slight, inaudible whisper coming from her lips. Inuyasha put his hand to the side of her face, turning her neck so slightly. He leaned down, his lips gently kissing her neck.
“Heh…how about I mark the rest of you? Do you think that bastard Koga would get the picture?”
He nipped her slightly, eliciting a sleepy moan from Kagome. He looked up at her, seeing her face start to redden as she slept. He smirked a little more, taking his hand and placing it on her thigh, moving it to the rim of her skirt. Even in her sleep, she responded so strongly to his touches. He prepared to kiss her again when she whispered,
“K…Koga-San…more...”
Inuyasha stared at her in disbelief; that bastard was taking credit for HIS work even when she slept?! He stood up, pulling the blankets over Kagome who’d rolled back over. He stormed out of the room and took a deep breath. So, is that how it was now? He looked at the closed door he standing in front of. Venturing back in, he noticed Kagome was still deep asleep. He looked at her, his hands balling up into fists.
“Just watch…I’m going to make you acknowledge it’s me and ONLY me who can make you feel that way…when you’re asleep or when you’re awake.”
He left her room, turning off the lights in the process. His promise made, he closed the door behind him and went downstairs to take a bath.
