Chapter eight: Almost stalker like
Sesshomaru stormed into the house, the aura of complete danger radiating off his body. He knew who set Kikyou up. After all, she couldn’t have done it all herself. Only one person would do such a thing to him.
“So how did the date go?” Inuyasha asked as he hopped down the stairs.
“Out of the way half breed.” He snapped causing his brother to actually move aside without any question. He quickly made it to his room and snatched his phone, dialing the only person he knew would try and ruin things for him.
“Yes?” A snake like voice answered.
“What are you planning Naraku?” Demanded Sesshomaru.
A chuckled was heard on the other side of the phone. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
“Shut the theatrics you filthy half breed.” He growled. “Your scent was on Kikyou’s person. You where the one behind her actions. Do not pretend otherwise. I will not ask again Naraku, what have you planned.”
“Honestly Sesshomaru,” He started, “I have no use for some human girl you’ve set your eyes on. But really, to fall for a miko? It’s hard to believe that you would ever look at a human girl that way. Tell me, is she that good in bed?”
“You will shut your mouth.” He snarled. “Be lucky you’re not before me now or you would be nothing more then a pile of ash.”
“Relax Sesshomaru.” Naraku chuckled once more. “I’ve done nothing at all. Kikyou came to me and I answered her plea. With a price.”
His golden eyes narrowed. “You’re nothing more then a filthy Hanyou.”
“I don’t see why you’re so upset. After all Sesshomaru, you used to think just like me. Women are nothing more then objects. Objects sent for our pleasure.”
Sesshomaru was silent for a moment, staring at himself in the mirror. Yes, at one point that was exactly what he thought. When did that change? When did he start to think differently from that? That’s when he remembered the words in her song. When he had first heard it he figured it was a song to play with men’s minds and bodies. But when he looked deeper into it, he realized that no, she actually wanted someone to love. It was just like him. Sleeping with women, seeing them as objects, in reality he wanted to be loved and to love back. His mother rejected him, his father trained him, when his younger brother was loved and adored. But when he grew, he realized that women would throw themselves at him because of his wealth and looks. It wasn’t hard to find a bed companion for the night. Yet Kagome was different. She didn’t throw herself at him. She didn’t care about the money or his looks. She cared about him. Kagome was strong, feisty, and wasn’t afraid to tell him how she felt. He remembered the feel of her lips against his, her hand touching his own; all of it made him feel like his was on cloud nine. She was different from any other human woman. She was his and he was hers.
“That was then Naraku,” He said softly. “This is now. I know now that women are not just objects. Kagome showed me that. The fact that you still believe that Naraku, shows how weak you really are.” With that he hung the phone up.
The door opened as Inutaisho walked in, a small smirk on his face. “So have you finally realized it Sesshomaru? Do you now have someone to protect?”
“Leave me father.” Sesshomaru gripped the desk. Naraku was planning something, he knew it. But what was the question. That’s when it hit him. He was after Kagome! Naraku may have been nothing more then a weak Hanyou, but he was smart. If Naraku figured out that he was in love with Kagome, then it wasn’t hard to figure out that she would be his weakness.
“Damn it!” He cursed, breaking his desk as he turned and ran out of the house. He could feel his beast screaming to be released. He could get to her faster if he could run freely. Sesshomaru, for once, obeyed the command of his beast and allowed his true dog form to show as he ran though the streets.
He was panting by the time he reached the shrine. It being a holy place, his beast retreated once more to the back of his subconscious. His ears were open, his senses reaching out for danger. That’s when he caught the scent of something that didn’t belong there. His golden eyes narrowed as he could verify that it wasn’t there before, it was fresh, and it was defiantly a Hanyou. But it wasn’t one that he recognized.
Slowly approaching the house, he picked up the sounds inside.
“No!” Kagome squeaked. “Stop it! That hurts!”
“Oh but Kagome,” The male chuckled. “You know you enjoy it in the end.”
Instantly his eyes bleed red. His Kagome was in danger! Without a second thought he burst though the door and quickly stopped the male who had Kagome cornered. With a growl he grabbed the Hanyou, throwing him against the wall.
Kagome screamed out as she saw Sesshomaru and ran to him, wrapping her arms around his waist. “Sesshomaru! Stop it!”
The inu youkai continued to growl as he held his hand up for the kill. “How dare you hurt her.” He growled. “Was it Naraku who sent you?”
“Sesshomaru! Stop it please!” Kagome pleaded. “That’s my cousin Tsuzuki! He wasn’t hurting me or anything! We were just rough housing!”
His eyes quickly went from a blood red to his golden color instantly. “Cousin?”
The man before him laughed nervously. “Well.. Distant cousin. From her dad’s side. I was in town and I remembered how Kagome makes really good cakes so I stopped by. Please don’t kill me.”
Sesshomaru looked the man up and down. He looked to be about twenty five with short black hair and odd purple eyes. By his scent, he could tell he had the blood of a dragon youkai in his veins. That and that he wasn’t very strong or hostile for that matter. In fact, he didn’t even have the smell of blood on him either. With an inward sigh of relief, Sesshomaru dropped the man.
“Tsuzuki!” Kagome cried, running to the man. “Are you alright?”
He gave her a warm smile and nodded. “I’m fine Kaggie. Mind telling me who my almost killer was though?”
Kagome giggled. “This is Sesshomaru Taisho, my boy-” She stopped and blushed. “A good friend of mine.”
Sesshomaru arched a sliver eyebrow. “You’re what?”
She shot a glare at him. “Just because we went on one date doesn’t mean that we’re dating.”
“So does that mean the kiss we shared before we parted meant nothing?”
“I classify that as dating.” Tsuzuki piped up.
“Shut up Tsuzuki!” Kagome snapped at the man.
“I agree with the half breed.”
“Hey!”
Kagome cried out in frustration. “Forget it! Will it make you both happy if I say that Sesshomaru is my boyfriend?”
“Yes.” They both replied.
She threw her arms up in the air. “Whatever. I’m going to check up on that cake.” She stormed off to the kitchen.
Tsuzuki hummed at the thought of cake. “Have you ever had her cake before?” He asked the demon in front of him.
Sesshomaru looked at the man who still hadn’t stood. “And you have?”
He gave a quick nod. “It’s the best sweets anyone could ask for. Maybe on Valentines day she’ll make you some home made chocolates.”
Sesshomaru sighed as he thought about Kagome in the kitchen. Just the very thought of her cooking food or even baking for him just made him in a dreamy state. It was official; Kagome was his for the keeping.
“Cake is ready!” Kagome called from the kitchen.
“We’ll be there in a moment!” Tsuzuki called back. He turned his violet eyes on the inu youkai. “Tell me Sesshomaru, I want to know now. Kagome is like a sister to me. The very thought of her school playboy dating her makes me nervous. How many women have you bedded then left? How many hearts have you broken? I don’t want to see Kagome to be hurt in anyway. So my question is, how serious about her are you really? And don’t lie to me. Hanyou or not, I can still detect lies. Even from a full demon like you.”
Sesshomaru watched him carefully. “Normally I would tell someone like you that its none of your business. But seeming that Kagome cares for you a lot, as well as you, I shall tell you. Kagome means the world to me. I have full intention on making her my mate. When she has graduated from High school, I will ask her myself. Till then, I plan on courting her. Any other woman is nothing to me now. My world, my life, revolves around her.”
Tsuzuki smiled and gave a small nod. “That I will accept. Now, about that cake.”
“You two! Get in here already!” Kagome called once again.
Sesshomaru smirked slightly and walked into the kitchen only to be rewarded with a wonderful aroma. “Tell me Kagome, where is your parents and family?”
Kagome began to cut the cake. “Mom, gramps and Sota went to Sota’s soccer game.” She answered, cutting them all a piece. “So its all just us.”
He gave a small nod as he accepted the cake. Taking a small bite, he was amazed how wonderful it tasted. Because he was a demon, his taste buds where much better then humans, yet the taste was perfect for him. It wasn’t too sweet like normal cake would be.
“Fantastic!” Tsuzuki cried out, practically shoving the cake in his mouth. “You’ve always been so great with cooking! And you know just how much to put in it too!”
Kagome giggled at the comment. “That’s what you get when you have youkai friends who come around often.”
Sesshomaru gave a nod of approval as well as he bit into it again. “It is good.” He answered her as well. “The best I’ve had in a while.” And he didn’t lie either.
The raven haired girl blushed deeply. “Um… Thanks Sesshomaru.” She said, trying to hide her embarrassment. “Anyway, enough about the cake. Why are you here Sesshomaru?”
He stopped in mid bite before deciding to swallow. How could he tell her that he thought that someone was after her life? And that very someone went to their school as well? He had no solid proof that Naraku was after her life. The phone call was enough to get him to be suspicious, but would that be enough for Kagome? Would she believe him or think that he was just being over protective?
“This Sesshomaru was worried is all.” He decided to answer.
Tsuzuki looked over at him for a moment before finishing his cake. “Can I have another piece please?”
Kagome gave a small nod and handed him another piece of cake. As she did, there was a loud boom outside before the lights flickered for a moment. Followed afterwards was the sound of rain pouring down fast.
“A sudden storm?” She asked, forgetting about Sesshomaru being there at the moment. “I could of sworn it was clear earlier. And isn’t it December?”
“The weather has been weird as of late.” Tsuzuki pointed out from his mouthful of cake. “Dad even says that the skies have been troubling.”
Kagome sighed as the phone rang. “I believe that’s my mom.” She left the room to answer the phone.
Tsuzuki swallowed his cake and glared at him. “Why did you lie to her?” He muttered.
“Because I have no proof.” Was his only answer. He gave the last tone a warning to stop asking.
“Mom says their going to stay over at a friend’s house tonight.” Kagome sighed as she walked into the room. “Its raining so hard that she cant see though the windshield.”
Tsuzuki gave a small nod and stood. “I have to get going unfortunately. Rain or not, Hisoka worries and comes after me.”
Kagome giggled and hugged her cousin. “Don’t have too much fun out there Tsuzuki.”
He smiled and hugged her back, ignoring the growls from Sesshomaru. “Loves you lots Kaggie.”
“Love you too.”
He kissed her on the cheek and gave a small nod before leaving the two alone.
Sesshomaru watched the man go and looked over at her. “I ask if you allow me to stay the night tonight sense you’ll be here alone.”
Kagome arched an eyebrow at all the formal talking. He never talked to her like this before. And on top of that he did show up out of no where and now was asking to stay the night!
“Your starting to act a lot like a stalker you know that?” She said, looking at him warily.
Sesshomaru chuckled slightly. “I don’t wish to leave you alone tonight Kagome.”
Kagome walked up close to him, looking him over. “Did you hit your head or something Sesshomaru? Your talking all proper. I’ve never seen you like this before.”
He brought his arm out and wrapped it around Kagome’s waist, bringing her close to his body. “You bring out the real me Kagome. Now, will you allow me to stay tonight?”
Kagome sighed. She just couldn’t defeat the look in his sunset eyes. It told her that he wanted to stay there to protect her, to be with her for the night. There was no deception of lust or anything else. Just the look of someone who wished to protect her from whatever threatened the house.
“Fine. But your sleeping on the couch. No going into my room understand?”
He smirked and kissed her lips softly. “I make no promises.”
Kagome stared at him shocked before pushing him off of her. “You pervert. I’ll kill you if you go into my room tonight. No dance, no nothing got it.”
“This Sesshomaru understands.” He said defeated.
Kagome smiled and kissed him back. “Good. Now let me find you some clothes to sleep in.” She brushed his arm for a moment before running upstairs.
Sesshomaru smirked as she left him. Yes, tonight would be interesting indeed.
