Children Go to the Future

Chapter 7:

Kagome came to and was in Kaede’s hut. Looking around she noticed that she was alone. Kagome sat with her hands in her lap thinking. ‘Could this really be happening? I didn’t just dream that, I know I didn’t. Why would Sesshomaru want me to be his mate? We would have to be intimate…’ Kagome blushed madly at that thought. ‘Sesshomaru must be losing his mind if he wants to do that with me.’

Kagome stood from her sleeping bag and walked out of the hut. There was Rin and Shippo playing in the grass. Kagome leaned against the hut and watched for a few moments. They were having such a good time.

“Shippo!” Kagome called to her son. They both stopped playing and ran to Kagome. She leaned down and scoped them into a hug.

“Momma! Your awake!” Both children yelled at the same time. Kagome giggled.

“Yes, I’m awake. What have you two been up to?”

“Shippo-aniki taught Rin how to play a new game!” Shippo puffed up his chest a little at that.

“Aniki? When did Shippo become your big brother Rin?”

“Well, Rin told me that Sesshomaru was courting you so now we’re brother and sister!” Kagome smiled down at the children before hugging them and putting them down.

“Okay, I’m going to the well to visit my momma.” Both children jumped up and down.

“Can we go with you and meet grandma! Please!” Shippo asked. Kagome thought for a moment before nodding.

“We need to let Sesshomaru-sama know that I’m taking Rin.” Rin shook her head.

“Daddy is gone. He went back to the Western Lands for something. He said that you would take care of me.” Rin beamed up at Kagome.

“Well, okay. Do you know when he will be back?” Rin shook her head. “That’s okay. Let’s go find Kaede and let her know where we are going to be.” Both children followed Kagome toward the center of town.

“Kagome!” Sango rushed up to her sister and hugger her tight.

“Sango… can’t… breathe….” Sango immediately released her.

“Sorry Kags. Inuyasha has another shard for you.”

“Is that where you guys disappeared to?” Sango nodded.

“There were rumors of a shard here at the village so we came to investigate. By the time we got here the demon had moved to a new village and we followed it.” Tears started to form in Kagome’s eyes.

“Why didn’t you guys wake me up to go with you? Why did you leave me with Sesshomaru?” Kagome wailed and fell into her sisters arms crying. Sango soothed Kagome as best as she could.

“We tried to wake you Kags, we did. But every time we got close to you the Ice Lord started to growl. We had no choice but to leave if we wanted to catch the jewel shard.” Kagome sobbed into Sango’s kimono as the children stepped up and hugged Kagome.

“It’s okay momma.”

“Momma, don’t you like daddy?” Kagome looked down and Rin and it only made her cry worse because Rin was crying. Kagome dropped down and hugged her close.

“I’m sorry, Rin. I don’t know how I feel about Sesshomaru-sama. He loves you very much and I like that about him. At the same time he is so cold. I don’t think that this will work out if he can’t share his feelings.” Rin frowned but dried her tears. Kagome hugged the girl closer to her.

“Well, what are you going to do about the suit now Kags?” Kagome sighed and shook her head.

“I don’t know. I’m going to take the children and visit my mom. Maybe get Rin a new kimono.” Sango nodded.

“I’ll tell the group.” Kagome gathered her children in her arms and headed off to the bone-eaters well. The trip was made in silence. No one wanted to speak what was on their minds so the tension was thick. At the well Kagome stopped and looked at the God Tree. She felt Inuyasha near by and wanted to speak with him but didn’t know if he was up for it yet.

“Inuyasha. I wanted to speak with you. If you feel up for it I’m taking the children with me to the future.” Kagome walked up to the well and jumped in. Blue light surrounded them as they entered the time stream. Kagome tightened her grip on the children. Then they were inside the well again. Looking up Kagome saw the roof of the well house and knew that she was home. The children started to gag at the smell so Kagome put them down.

“I know it’s a change. Try breathing through your mouths.” The children immediately obeyed and the gagging stopped. Kagome started up the ladder to the top of the well. Shippo and Rin were waiting on her as she got over the top. Rin giggled and pointed at Kagome.

“Momma, your face is really funny!” Kagome shook her head.

“I’ve got to remember that you guys are demons.” Kagome gathered the children once more in her arms and walked out of the well house. “Momma! I’m home!” Kagome yelled as she started toward the house. There wasn’t any answer as she walked into the house. On the kitchen table was a note.

Kagome,

Just in case you come home. I took Grampa to his doctor visit. It’s out of town so we won’t be home until tomorrow. Here’s some money if you need to get anything.

Love,
Mom

Kagome smiled at the note and tucked the money into her obi.

“I’m going to go change. Maybe I can find something you two can wear while you’re here.” Kagome led the children upstairs to her room and dived into her closet. She pulled out a no sleeve red turtle neck shirt and a faded pair of black jeans for herself. For Rin she pulled out one of her short white summer dresses, because Rin was so short it would be perfect. Then for Shippo she went to her brother’s room to look for something. She was glad that Shippo had grown and picked up some worn out jeans and a dark green T-shirt.

“Come on time to change.” Kagome ushered Rin and Shippo into the bathroom to change. Kagome untied Rin’s obi and took off her ruined kimono tossing it into the trash can. Then she pulled the dress over Rin’s head and tied it in the back. Even though it was too big the tie helped to hide the extra material. She sent Rin out to her room. Then she turned to Shippo and helped him into her brother’s clothes.

She sent Shippo out to wait with Rin so she could change. Kagome pulled the money from her obi and put it on the counter. Carefully, as to not rip the delicate fabric, she untied the obi and folded it. Then she peeled off each layer of the kimono and folded them as well. Breathing a sigh of relief she slipped into her jeans and shirt. She felt so good in her normal clothes. She tucked the money into her pocket and walked out into her room. Rin and Shippo were sitting on the bed quietly.

“Come on guys. I think it’s time for a trip to go shopping.” They nodded and followed Kagome down stairs. Kagome help out her hands and each child grabbed one. Kagome led through the shops all over town. Rin got a new kimono and a porcelain doll. Shippo got a new toy top as well as a wooded child’s sword. They stopped and ate while they were out before heading home. By the time they were done eating Kagome had to carry the kids back to the shrine they were so tired. It was growing late by the time they got back and so Kagome just tucked the kids into bed for the night. Kagome changed into her pj’s and slid into bed with the children.

Kagome was happy that the kids enjoyed their day out. She was going to talk to her mother tomorrow and then head back to the feudal era. Kagome closed her eyes and drifted to sleep.
