Dont you have someone to protect?

A/N: Now, as I sit at work, I need to give a warning about this chapter. There might be some OOC with Sesshomaru. Also, I didn’t like writing this chapter. Just because I love writing happy stuff. But this chapter is actually pretty sad.

Chapter eight: Do you have someone to protect?

The train was loud and it seemed to get louder by the second. He just wanted to take his whip and just kill ever single human on this train. Lucky for him, he was able to take his Kimono and his fur with him for the trip. Kagome pointed out the other day that they could were kimono’s at the trip. So he did. He even brought his swords with him. He was bringing them no matter what she said. Though at the moment, Kagome was trying her best to fall asleep right next to him. She woke up that morning, not remembering what happened, but had a horribly hangover. Sesshomaru figured that it was for the best.

“Why does it sound like there is a band playing in my head?” Kagome groaned.

“That’s what you get for drinking.” Sesshomaru answered simply.

The girl shot him a small glare. ‘Why wont you tell me what happened last night?”

“Because you don’t need to know.” He answered simply once more.

Kagome sat back and pouted. She really didn’t remember much that night. She could have sworn that she saw Koga standing there at one point, but then again, that could have been a dream. It was the same with Inuyasha. She could have sworn she saw the hanyuu, but that was just impossible. Just thinking about them, made her head pound even harder. Everyone one else from the party called off sick. It sucked that they weren’t going to the hot springs, but at least Sesshomaru said he would go. Now if only she could get him to talk about what happened that night.

“Do you still love Inuyasha?”

Kagome snapped out of her thoughts to look over at Sesshomaru. That was a question she didn’t think he would ask.

“I miss him, but I don’t love him.” Kagome said softly. No, she loved Sesshomaru. After all, he treated he with more respect then Inuyasha did. Not only that, he never yelled at her. He would let her do her own thing. When Kagome wanted to do her own thing, Inuyasha would yell at her, telling her that he can do it.

“Then who do you love? That wolf?”

Kagome shook her head once more. “No. I don’t.”

“Then who do you love Kagome?”

She turned and looked at him. “Sesshomaru-sama…”

“Hey Taisho!” A boy called as she sat in the seat next to Sesshomaru. “I heard your good with a sword. Is that true.”

The inuyokai growled. How dare this pathetic human question him. “This Sesshomaru has no intention on answering you.”

The boy laughed. “Why do you talk in third person? Do you have other personalities? Well, tell that Sesshomaru that I bet I can best in in any sword fight. In a fight, and in the bed.”

The other boys laughed as if to urge the Taiyokai to fight that.

“Incompetent human..” He muttered to himself.

Kagome shifted in her seat. Already this was going to get bad. She could tell by the sound of Sesshomaru’s voice.

“If I’m human, then what are you? An elf?” He tugged at Sesshomaru’s pointed ear. “Hey look everyone! Toshio believes that he’s a pretty little fairy! No wonder why he wont date a girl!”

Everyone started to laugh . Sesshomaru had enough. It was about time he showed this human how terrifying he really was. That was till the bus went completely quiet from the sound of a loud slap.

The boy sat there with his hand on his cheek, and Kagome stood there with a reddened hand. “What the hell is wrong with you women?!” the boy snapped.

“No! What the hell is wrong with you?! You think your some big bad boy, when in reality, your nothing more then trash! Sesshomaru is ten, no, a million time the better man then you! As for your sword fighting, I’ve seen you in kendo club before and I’ll tell you what, I can shoot an arrow better then you and I cant even shoot! Now you get your scrawny ass back in your seat before I force you back there!” With that she sat down and huffed. It angered her so much when others would pick on other people because they look different.

“Stupid cunt…” the boy muttered.

Kagome didn’t hear him, but Sesshomaru did. And he was getting tired of it all. He stood up and towered over the man before he grabbed the boy by the throat and squeezed. He held his other claw up with was swimming with poison. “Give me one good reason why I shouldn’t kill you.” He hissed out.

“Taisho Sesshomaru1 Let him go right now!” the teacher yelled when she saw him.

Sesshomaru let the boy go. “If you really want to fight worm, then meet me tonight behind the cabins. I will show you who is the better fighter. If your half the man you say you are, then you will be there.”

He sat down and nodded to the teacher, a smirk on his face.

“You could have handled that better.” Kagome muttered.

‘I think I handled it fine.”

**

“Hey Kagome, who is Taisho anyways?” One of the girls asked her. “I mean, are you two dating?”

Kagome’s face turned bright red. “No!” though she really wished they were. “I mean, he is attractive. Much more attractive then his brother, that’s for sure. And when you get past his cold nature, he really is a nice guy.”

Another girl giggled. “Can you imagine him with puppy ears and a tail?”

Kagome coughed. “I don’t think that would fit him!” She cried out. She had seen his dog form once, and that was enough. She knew it was another one of his forms, but it was scary.

“Taisho-san and Kiro are fighting outside!” another girl cried as she ran inside. ‘And from the looks of it, Taisho-san is losing!”

Kagome jumped up and quickly ran out of the room. There was no way that boy was stronger then Sesshomaru. It just wasn’t possible. After all, he was a yokai for god’s sake! As she ran outside, she began to witness the fight unfold.

Kiro continued to attack and attack with a sword, while Sesshomaru continued to block every one of them. It was simple really. He could just start attacking the boy, but it was more fun to make the boy believe he was winning. Anyways, Sesshomaru couldn’t kill him with Tenseiga. Though he believed it would be more satisfying if he killed the boy right then and there.

“Fight me!” Kiro yelled as he continued to attack. “Stop acting like a dog with your tail between your legs!”

Sesshomaru sighed. “If I must.” He allowed Kiro to attack once more, but this time he grabbed the blade with one hand. He felt the metal bite into his hand, but it didn’t faze him. With a simple swing, he sliced the boy with the Tenseiga. At first the man cried out in pain, till he realized that he was cut. But he was defeated in two simple moves.

“This Sesshomaru wins.” He said, sounding bored. “You are to leave Kagome alone, as well as I. Now leave before I kill you with my own sword.”

Kiro whimpered and ran off in shame.

Sesshomaru sheathed his sword and looked over. Kagome still stood there, but the other’s had already left to go back inside. After all, it was getting late.

“Did you have to show off like that?” Kagome asked softly. “I mean, he is just a human.”

Sesshomaru just gave her a look. He wasn’t showing off, he was setting an example. He wasn’t going to let some human believe he was superior to him. He opened his mouth to say so, but stopped as he felt a demonic aura creeping towards them. And from the smell, it was a large one. Possibility even powerful.

“Get away Kagome.” he growled.

“Sesshomaru-sama?” She whispered. Before she knew it, a tentacle wrapped around her ankle and pulled her into the air. Screaming out loud, she tried to get the tentacle off of her. With an easy slice of his claws, Sesshomaru freed her and grabbed the girl from the air.

‘Who are you and why are you here?” Sesshomaru demanded of the demon.

The large demon looked to be a large octopus, with gashing teeth, and a lot more tentacles. “well, is it not the great lord of the west, Sesshomaru. Everyone thought you were dead. Killed by Naraku.” The thing laughed loudly. “But here he is, trying to pretend to be a little human being.”

Sesshomaru’s knuckled popped one by one. It had been a while sense he had killed a demon. He didn’t think he would get a chance here in this time. But it seemed like luck was on his side. ’Kagome, go to my room and grab Toukijin and bring it to me.”

Kagome nodded and ran off to do so. After all, she didn’t have her arrows and would be useless to him. She just hoped that Sesshomaru would be alright.

“this Sesshomaru will not repeat himself another time. Who are you?”

The demon laughed. “My name is not important. But I have been asleep in these mountains for many years. Ever sense Naraku was defeated by your brother. But when I went to sleep, I brought something with me just in case if I saw you were again.” The demon reached back and pulled out what looked like tattered cloth. Throwing it to him, Sesshomaru found out what it truly was. It was the tattered remains of Rin’s kimono. Blood stains still remained on the front.

“Naraku had the pleasure to killing her himself. I was there when I helped him. In fact, he allowed me to eat her remains!” The demon laughed once more, only to scream out in pain.

He didn’t need a sword. He didn’t need a weapon. All he needed was his claws and teeth. His eyes had bled red, his mouth lengthened, and his body changed.

“Do you have someone to protect?”

He did, and he left her behind with no way of protection. And now she was dead. She suffered a fate worse then death. And he was going to avenge her. Rin was his ward. He was her protector, and he failed her. He left her behind with nothing but a toad to protect her. Jaken had failed. And so had Sesshomaru.

The demon continued to scream in agonizing pain as Sesshomaru tore him apart in his large dog form. Blood was everywhere. But he didn’t care. He didn’t care if he was seen. Right now, all he cared about was killing this demon. Forcing him to feel the pain that she did.

“Please no!” the demon screamed out, trying his best to protect himself. But his cries fell on deft ears. Finally he sunk his fangs into the demon’s throat and ripped out, making sure that the demon would die slowly from lack of air.

“Now suffer.” He growled. “Suffer and die for what you’ve done.” Already he was forming back into his normal form.

“Sesshomaru…” Kagome whispered.

The yokai turned around to see the miko standing there. Tears fell down her face as she stood there holding his sword. Her hands were blistered from even touching the sword, and blood ran down her wrist. But that’s not what he noticed the most. It was that she was scared of him now. The tears weren’t that of sadness, but of fear. She witnessed him fight in the most brutal way possible. That was till he realized what she was truly scared off.

Slowly, out of the demon’s throat, a girl walked out. Her skin was dead pail, and her eyes were blood red. But it was Rin. What came out was Rin.

Sesshomaru stood there, a relieved look on his face. “Rin…” He whispered.

“That’s not her!” Kagome screamed out. ‘Its not Rin!”

The Rin look alike smirked, her teeth showing nothing more then sharp fangs. “Come on Sesshomaru-sama.” She said. She even had her voice. “Come and play with me. Lord Jaken is waiting for us!”

Sesshomaru’s eyes widened as he could smell the strong scent of the demon. It wasn’t funny. This was twisted. And the only one he could think that could do this was Naraku. He instantly ran over to Kagome and grabbed Toukijin from her hands. Turning back around quickly, he darted to the sick version of Rin, and sliced her in two. He never showed emotion till then. As he stood in the remains of the demon, he screamed out his pain and agony. He promised to protect her till her time. And here he stood in the remains of a false Rin, and a demon. He continued to scream out, not caring about who heard him.

Once more, the sound of rain could be heard and it began to fall once more, trying to wash away Sesshomaru’s pain and agony.
