chapter eight
InuYasha ran to the window with his hand on Tetsusaiga. He stuck his head out the window searching for the figure that had been there. He sniffed around and smelt the strong smell of the one person that would make his blood boil. “Naraku.”
“InuYasha are you sure?” Kagome looked fearful. “I didn’t sense any jewel shards.”
“There was some one here that smelled of Naraku… one of his minions.” InuYasha looked pissed that he didn’t stop him. “Damn him…” Kagome placed a calming hand on his shoulder.
“We should start traveling, we don’t want to lose the trail.” InuYasha nodded to Kagome.
Yusuke looked over at the Inu-gang. “Who is this Naraku?”
“He is an evil bastard set on ruining everything that is good in this world.” InuYasha balled his hands making a fist.
“He destroys for fun. Seeing others in pain gives I’m pleasure. He has harmed each of us in one-way or another, some worse than others.” Miroku who was speaking gave a quick glance at the one she secretly loved.
“That is horrible,” Stated Kurama, who felt Shizuka, who was still holding his arm as if to make sure he was still there, stiffen. He looked down to her and saw her ears matted to her head and she was sniffing. She made some hand movements. “Spring rain and freshly fallen snow? Are you sure?” she nodded and touched her nose then her heart. Taking a small whiff he smelt it as well.
“Spring rain and freshly fallen snow? May I ask what she is talking about?” Asked Sango, who was avoiding Miroku’s wandering hand.
“That is the smell of Kuronue. Every human and demon has a scent. That scent is used for attracting a mate. Humans use it subconsciously. A man may be attracted to a woman physically but the scent is what reels him in. Like Miss Kagome, you smell of…”
“Lilacs and vanilla.” InuYasha interrupted. He didn’t know why he said that he noticed her smell but something made him feel that he needed to. He could feel Kagome’s eyes on him, her beautiful eyes staring intently at him. He cursed himself silently. Something in his mind was not right. Then he remembered, tonight was the new moon.
“Pardon me but I thing we should start making our way north. We need to catch up with Naraku.” Miroku said and that took everyone’s attention off his embarrassed friend. InuYasha gave a nod in thanks and Miroku just smiled.
Everyone agreed and began packing up. InuYasha turned and saw Hiei placing his katana back into its sheath. “Who are you?”
“OH! That is our friend Hiei.” Kurama said. “He came last night.”
“Feh…” he had seen him before. At least he thought he did.
“InuYasha?” His thoughts were interrupted by Kagome’s voice.
“What?”
“Will you help me carry this bag?” he nodded and picked up her yellow backpack and everyone finished packing. Kilala jumped out the window and turned into her full form. Everyone left the inn and they Yu yu gang was amazed.
“THAT WAS THAT LIL KITTY?” Kuwabara asked going over hesitantly and petting Kilala who purred under his gentle touch.
“Yes her name is Kilala.” Kuwabara was happy as a clam petting the large cat demon. Sango smiled as Kilala was leaning into the petting. She climbed on and Kuwabara looked in awe.
“You can ride her?”
“Yes.” Miroku was about to climb on when she reached her hand down to Kuwabara. “Would you like to ride her for a while?”
“Would I ever!” with the help of the demon slayer he climbed on and Miroku’s eyes flashed with jealousy. Shizuka giggled and turned to her old friend. She made some hand movements and he laughed as well. Kagome looked over at their newest travelers from her bike and saw Kurama and Shizuka talking and laughing, Shippo in the basket on her bike sucking on a lollypop, Hiei looking around for anything suspicious, Yusuke talking with Kuwabara and Sango on Kilala, Miroku glaring daggers into the back of Kuwabara’s head, and she turned and saw InuYasha. He stood there with his scowl of annoyance that they weren’t moving yet.
“Let’s move.” That was all InuYasha said and the group began moving. ‘Today was going to be a nice day.’ Kagome thought as she peddled her bike lightly with Shippo smiling feeling the warmth in the wind.
