Love
Chapter 8
Alone in her room, she sat, feasting on a bowl of fruit while reading one of the mystery novels she had brought from the other era. There was a sudden knock on the door that caused the bowl of fruit on her lap, to jump up and fall on the floor. ‘Kagome, can I talk to you?’, her father called from outside. ‘Sure! Just come on in’.
Takeshi walked into the room and took a seat on the end of Kagome’s bed. ‘There are few things that I need to talk to you about for tomorrow…’, he started. Kagome gave him a curious look, wondering what it could be. Considering what she had been through so far, she didn’t think that anything could shock her anymore.
‘…Tomorrow, Sesshomaru would like to have the un-mating ceremony performed. This process is rarely done, but considering the circumstances in which he was mated under, it seems like the only reasonable thing to do at this point’. Kagome felt her body stiffen, though remained silent. Right when she heard that how Sarah truly felt for the Lord, Sesshomaru goes and decides to do something like this.
He could tell that something was on his daughter’s mind, though he did not want to pry. ‘In order for this to happen, the gods must be contacted by the angel, and through that, the gods will decide on whether or not to perform the ritual’. ‘… Father, I think the gods want me to decide…’, Kagome mumbled. She proceeded to explain to her father about everything that happened, the whole time, he merely nodded and said nothing.
‘So, now I don’t know what to do. I made a promise to Sarah, but at the same time, I don’t want to upset Sesshomaru-sama…’, she said before feeling the tears slowly drop down. The red-haired demon put a comforting arm around her, ‘Kagome. The gods left you this responsibility, because they know that whatever you choose, will be the right choice. Have more faith in yourself. Trust yourself, and do what you think will make be the right choice in the long-term’.
Kagome sighed, and thanked her father for the advice. Crawling back into bed, she closed her eyes and decided on what she would do. Praying to everyone but the gods, she hoped it was the right thing to do. ‘Kagome. Don’t worry, it will all work out. Believe in yourself’, Takeshi said softly before he left.
Throughout the night, Kagome tossed and turned in bed, unable to stop worrying about what would happen. Finally, from sheer fatigue, sleep finally came to her and soon enough, the sun was back up once again, greeting her to a new day, one that she was dreading.
Sesshomaru waited in the field that led to the Northern Lands. A few meters away, Sarah sat, her eyes red from crying. Nothing was working out as she had planned. Now it was up to Kagome… Or rather the gods, neither of which she thought she could trust. She looked over to Sesshomaru’s mansion, the place that she hoped would be her new home, yet not once had she felt welcome there.
The invisible barrier wavered for a moment before revealing Takeshi, Reiko and Kagome. Behind them came another couple that he had seen only one other time, neither holding a pleasant expression on their faces. He didn’t even think twice about anything else, but when Kagome appeared, he felt something wrong.
Her aura seemed to have been weakened, and on top of that, she looked as though she had not slept well. She didn’t seem to the glowing, cheerful Kagome he knew her to be, and there was a pang of guilt when the thought of her change being caused by him struck him.
Sarah approached Kagome slowly, hoping that no one would see her. ‘Kagome-sama… I’m so nervous. What if the gods don’t want us to be together?’, she asked, her voice full of concern. ‘Don’t worry Sarah it will be all right. Just remember what the advice I gave you, and hopefully Sesshomaru-sama will come to understand your feelings’, the demoness replied.
Everyone took their places, and waited for Kagome to give them the decision of the gods. ‘Yesterday night, the gods contacted me, and told me of what they decided. The choice was left to me, and I feel that the ceremony does not need to be performed. If the two of you work something out together, I’m sure it will turn out well…’, Kagome said slowly, not once looking at Sesshomaru.
The Western Lord clenched his fist and tried to control his demon side. He was not going to lose control now. ‘You are making a mistake, Kagome. Reconsider your choices. There is nothing in this relationship and it would be best for both if we were separated’, Sesshomaru managed to say.
‘I’m sorry… This may seem hard at first, but please, Sesshomaru-sama, Sarah really loves you, and if you give her the chance and open up to her, I’m sure you’ll see…’.
Her dream had been granted. Running to her parents, she collapsed into their hugs, rejoicing over the decision.
‘May I speak to you in private then?’, the Lord interrupted. Sarah was about to protest, but from the look in Sesshomaru’s eyes, she could tell that now wasn’t the time. Reluctantly, Kagome went and followed the Lord to the mansion, leaving everyone to wonder what exactly was going to happen.
As soon as they were inside, Sesshomaru cornered Kagome, trapping her between the wall and him. ‘Tell me… Why are you so sad?’. The demoness stared at him with widened eyes, ‘What…? I’m not sa…’. ‘There’s no point in lying. The gods gave you permission to allow the ritual, but that good-for-nothing wench threatened you, didn’t she?’.
‘No! It was my choice. I was the one who decided that you two shouldn’t perform the ceremony. But… Why? You have no idea how much love she has for you! Why do you refuse to open up to her?’, Kagome cried, holding back the tears. ‘Because…’.
Everything around them stopped. Nothing seemed to exist anymore as Sesshomaru leaned in and captured Kagome’s warm, soft lips. Slowly, he caressed them with his own. It was gentle, yet the passion that was held within it was unmatchable.
Her heart skipped a beat when she felt him kiss her. She knew right away that she couldn’t deny the feelings she had for him. Gradually, she closed her eyes and deepened the kiss; all the love she had felt in a lifetime didn’t even amount to how she felt that instant.
When their lips finally parted, both were in a daze. Kagome could feel her heart swell up with emotions she had tried to keep hidden. The silence was finally broken, when a soft, baritone voice whispered, ‘…Did that feel… as ‘right’ to you, as it did to me?’.
The tears slid down uncontrollably, and Kagome could only whisper two words. ‘I’m… sorry…’. She pushed the Lord away from her before running off, not once looking back. Sesshomaru stood there, lost in time. It had all happened so quickly. One moment, they were locked together, both pouring their souls into each other, and within a second, everything had been taken away.
There was a patter of feet approaching him, and his name was called out. None of it mattered. He was deaf and blind to everything except for her. His beautiful angel…
Kagome couldn’t believe that she had just kissed Sesshomaru. Just like that, she had broken the promise she had worked so hard to keep. ‘Any choice I make is right? Then why did he kiss me? Why does it have to be this way?’, Kagome yelled into the grass as she fell down and dug her claws into the soft ground.
Sobbing, the young demoness knew she had fallen for Sesshomaru. She could hear her inner demon calling for him, though she shut it out. ‘I promised… I can’t…’, she said to herself, sobs erupting from within her. Still laying in the grass, she cried herself to sleep, wishing it would just all go away.
And that was how the Southern Lords found an hour later.
Sesshomaru locked himself up in his room, refusing to speak to anyone. That one kiss… He didn’t know how so many things could rise from a single action. Emotions flooded his mind, all of which were to the extreme. He wanted to tear apart Sarah, but once he thought of Kagome, all he could think of was how much love he had for her.
‘She… returned the kiss… did she not?’, he questioned himself. He could still feel her lips pressed against his, the taste of her sweet mouth still in his. He wanted more, but…
He closed his eyes and searched for her aura, hoping to find it in the Northern Lands, but when he didn’t sense it there, the Lord dreaded the answer to where she was. The only place he could not look into was Naraku’s lands and having her there could only result to something bad…
Warm covers and a soft pillow greeted the demoness as she finally awoke from her deep slumber. The roots of her eyelashes ached when she opened her eyes, only reminding her of previous events. ‘Kagome-sama…?’, Naraku said softly. Kagome looked to her side and was greeted by Naraku.
‘Oh… Naraku-sama! I’m sorry… but… Why… How did I…’, Kagome fumbled, trying to find the right words. ‘I was patrolling my lands yesterday and found you, collapsed in one of the fields. I wasn’t too sure what to do, so I brought you to my place, which is where you are right now’, Naraku explained.
All of it was the truth, except for the part where he ‘wasn’t too sure what to do’. He had seen everything and so far, things were going accordingly. If the Western Lords was going to try and win over the Eastern Lands with the power of an angel, Naraku wasn’t going to allow that to happen. ‘Are you alright now?’.
Kagome sat up, and gave Naraku a small smile. ‘I’m fine now. I guess I was just a bit tired, especially since father’s been training me so much… Sorry for causing you all that trouble, having to carry me back’. ‘Don’t think twice about that Kagome-sama, anyone would have done such a trivial thing’, the Lord replied smoothly.
‘It’s Sesshomaru, isn’t it?’, Naraku asked. Her eyes widened, not knowing how he had been able to know. ‘How did you know?’, Kagome whispered, her voice trembling slightly. ‘You smell faintly of him, and I heard that he was having his mating ceremony reversed today, so putting one and one together, why else would you be crying?’.
She remained silent, fearing that if she spoke, all her emotions would spill out and she would feel the pain all over again. ‘Kagome-sama… If you are sad, or if you are angry, don’t keep it hidden inside. There’s nothing wrong with expressing your feelings…’, Naraku said softly. The tears began falling, and soon, sobs could be heard throughout the mansion.
‘Please… Forget about Sesshomaru. Will you be my mate? I promise that I will do everything in my power, to bring you happiness. I will treat you with the respect you deserve, and more. So… please?’.
Her head was buried against his chest, the sound of his heartbeat against her ear. She didn’t have anything to lose… did she? She could never be with Sesshomaru, and at this point, that was all she needed to hear. ‘… I think… I would like that, Naraku’.
It had been a week since Sesshomaru had last slept. Now, he was sitting in the dining hall of his enemy’s mansion, with a single goal in his mind. The past week, he had done nothing but stand at the border of his lands, watching their every move, and so far, nothing had displeased him.
In a bedroom, Kagome sat, clad in a red kimono, waiting for the time to come. When she had finally calmed down and thought about her reply to Naraku’s proposal, the demoness could feel the doubt begin to arise. She had asked herself it was the right choice, and although she thought Naraku was a great person and all that… She failed to come up with a solid answer.
‘Kagome?’, Naraku called out from outside her bedroom door, ‘Are you ready?’. Sighing softly, the demoness stood up, and looked herself in the mirror once more. ‘Yes… I… can do this’.
As the soon-to-be couple entered the hall, everyone stopped talking and bowed down with respect. All, except one. Kagome stood close behind Naraku, keeping her field of vision as small as possible so that she wouldn’t catch sight of Sesshomaru.
‘Thank you, everyone, for coming tonight… Kagome and I would like to start things off with the ritual, just to get it over with, and would like to invite you all to stay at the mansion for as long as you like’, Naraku announced. He held Kagome’s hand, and led her to the platform where they would become mates.
‘Stop’.
All heads turned over to the Western Lord, murmurs could be heard from the other demons. Beside him, Sesshomaru could feel Sarah tense and begin to reach up for his hand, though he moved before she could even touch him.
‘Sesshomaru. What is the meaning if this?’, Naraku demanded. He was so close to gaining the ultimate power, and no one was about to take it away from him. ‘Kagome. You can’t mate Naraku. He only wants you for the power you have. Once you two become mates, he will destroy everyone… He will take over all of the lands and turn this into a living hell for everyone…’.
Kagome could feel the anger boil up within her, and this time, she wasn’t going to let it hide inside of her. ‘How can you say something like that, Sesshomaru? Naraku loves me…’. ‘Hmph. Is that what you really think?’, Sesshomaru retorted.
‘Yes… it is… But… Tell me then… Why is it that you are doing this? Why can’t you be happy for me, like I was happy for you and Sarah?’, Kagome cried. Her heart was crumbling all over again, and she didn’t know how much further she could be pushed.
‘Because… Kagome… I…’. ‘Are you done, Sesshomaru?’, Naraku asked rather nastily. ‘Are you done trying to destroy our happiness? Our future? …’.
Kagome didn’t hear anymore. Time had suddenly stopped, and everyone was frozen in place. ‘Kagome…’, a male voice called out. She remembered it from the first time it had spoken to her, which was not long ago.
A being, shining in white light, approached her. He had dark blue hair that almost seemed black. ‘Kagome… My name is Haru Matsuda. I was the former angel, but now I am here as a god’. The demoness could only stare, tears still in her eyes.
‘My time here is limited, as we gods, are not of this world. So hear me out first. There is one demon, here, that truly loves you. One that you, yourself, truly love… Whether you chose the right person, is your responsibility. But, whomever you mate, will be put to the test. You will not be allowed to tell them of this, but be assured, that only the worthy can pass it’.
His image began to fade, causing Kagome to rush forward. ‘Please! Don’t leave, Matsuda-sama… I don’t know… what to do…’, she asked desperately. The god merely shook his head, and smiled. ‘I cannot say anymore, as that was the message I had come to tell you. Just as one last piece of advice… Stop hiding’.
With that, he disappeared and time resumed. Naraku stood there with a confused look on his face as he realized Kagome was not there. He turned around and saw the angel, standing some distance away. ‘Kagome, what are you doing over there?’, he called out.
Another voice spoke, ‘Kagome… I lo…’. ‘Kagome come over here! Let us complete this ritual. Then, no one will ever come between us’, the Southern Lord continued, walking over to Kagome. He began to wrap his arms around the demoness, but stopped when he heard Sesshomaru speak again.
‘Do you want to know why I can’t be happy for you, Kagome?’, Sesshomaru spoke, softly, yet clearly. The angel lifted her eyes to greet his amber ones. ‘It’s because… I love you’, he whispered. White light suddenly covered him and Sarah, and when it faded, Sesshomaru knew exactly what had happened.
When Kagome looked over at Sesshomaru, all the emotions that were once hidden in the golden orbs were finally released, and she felt them touch her heart.
‘…There is one demon, here, that truly loves you. One that you, yourself, truly love…’.
‘Naraku-sama…’, Kagome said softly. ‘Hmm?’, he replied, looking over at her. ‘I’m… sorry…’, she said so softly he almost didn’t hear her. ‘What are you talking about?’, he demanded, his voice slowly growing louder. ‘I… can’t mate with you…’, she said slowly, but the more words that came out, the more she began believing them.
This couldn’t be happening. He had worked so hard, and now she was telling him this? ‘No… Don’t let his words of evil sway you, Kagome. Have you forgotten the pain he brought you? Have you forgotten my promise to you?’.
‘No. Naraku-sama… I haven’t forgotten any of that… But… the reason why I was so sad because of Sesshomaru… was because… I loved him…’, Kagome said.
Not even a split second later, Kagome felt arms surround her, as well a pale blue barrier. At first, she had thought they were Naraku’s, but feeling the tenderness and love within it, she knew that it could only be from Sesshomaru.
Once again, the sound of metal against a barrier reached her ears, though this time the roles had been changed. When the barrier was dropped, the clash of swords was heard, and Kagome knew that the pain would come if the fight didn’t end soon.
She closed her eyes, and summoned one of the new powers she had learned. Latching onto Sesshomaru’s waist, the two of them disappeared, leaving Naraku there, still in a murderous state.
The fresh, cool air of the outdoors greeted them when they arrived at their destination. Wherever their destination was. Kagome hadn’t cared where they went, as long as it was away from Naraku. Looking around, Kagome recognized the area immediately.
‘Kagome…?’, Sesshomaru said softly, causing the demoness to jump slightly at the sound of his voice. Before she knew what was happening, she felt his arms around her again, this time, holding her tight against his muscular body. ‘I’ve been searching for you for 500 years…’, he murmured, burying his face in her charcoal black hair.
Her arms moved up, wrapping themselves around the demon lord. Her nose was pressed up against him, giving her access to his deep, dark scent, one that was so familiar… one that she loved so much. ‘…Sesshomaru…’.
Their lips locked into their own passionate embrace. His tongue brushed against her lips, wanting an entrance to her succulent mouth. Unable deny him anything, Kagome opened her mouth eagerly to him and soon their tongues were intertwined, both delving further into each other’s mouths.
Finally, they let go of each, their breaths ragged and uneven. ‘Kagome… I won’t be able to stop…’. ‘Then don’t…’, she whispered back, pulling him back into another heated kiss. Hands pulled against clothing, desperately trying to remove it. Sesshomaru tore all the cloth away, allowing the cold night air to clothe them instead.
Kagome blushed, and tried to cover herself up, but the Lord soon stopped her. ‘No… You are beautiful, my love… There is nothing for you to hide…’. She relaxed though didn’t look at him, her cheeks still burning red.
Sesshomaru captured one her breasts with his hand, running his thumb over her hardened, pink bud. Her gasp of surprise was soon replaced with moans of pleasure as she felt his tongue against breast. ‘Sesshomaru…’, she gasped, feeling warmth pool in her lower regions.
While continuing his ministrations on her breast with his mouth, one of his hands reached down to her hidden treasure. When his finger brushed past her bundle of nerves, he felt her hips rise up, trying to deepen the sensation.
He slid a finger into her slick, tight hole and slowly began pumping in and out of her. Waves of pleasure came over Kagome, and she could only lay back and enjoy all the sensations she was feeling. One finger was replaced by two, and Sesshomaru soon felt a gush of liquids as her walls tightened.
That had to be the most amazing experience she had ever felt. Her orgasm ripped through her body, causing her to shudder with delight. When her lover withdrew his fingers from her, he licked them clean in front of her. The simple action made her excited all over again, making her want more.
‘Allow me to repay the favor’, Kagome said seductively. The Lord raised a curious eyebrow; though letting the demoness have her way. She pushed him down, and gently ran her fingers along his hardened member. Encouraged by his groan, she wrapped her fingers around his manhood and began to stroke him, as well as placing her hot mouth over the tip of his length.
He knew that he wouldn’t be able to hold back for much longer, and there was something had to do before that. With demonic speed, he pulled himself from her grasp and before she knew it, Kagome found herself kneeling on all fours with Sesshomaru behind her.
‘I’m sorry…But it will get better…’, he murmured before thrusting deep into her, tearing through her virgin barrier. Sesshomaru could feel his demon blood rushing through his veins, urging him to pound into her tight depths relentlessly, though he refused to move when he heard her wince in pain.
Sesshomaru remained still for a moment, allowing her to adjust to his size. As soon as he felt her shift slightly, he slowly began moving within her, relishing every second. Moans of ecstasy were heard throughout the grassy field as his pace quickened, and within mere minutes, the sound of flesh against flesh could be heard.
And it was then, the two demons, claimed each other in the moonlight. Both bodies were covered in sweat, and cries of pleasure could be heard when Sesshomaru gave a final thrust, spilling his seed deep inside her womb. Kagome felt her passages put a death grip on Sesshomaru’s manhood when she released, and finally relax as she collapsed into the lush grass.
His fangs lengthened, and pierced the skin by her neck. Blood flowed freely, though not a drop was wasted. Kagome had barely felt the mark, her body still in a daze.
Although Sesshomaru wanted to go for another round, he knew that his newly claimed demoness was beyond tired, and he didn’t want to push her.
The two sat in the field; Sesshomaru propped against the tree with Kagome lying in his arms. He watched her slowly drift to sleep, nestled in their once discarded clothing, and against his chest. He could hear her mumbling, and despite the fact that the words were being spoken half-asleep, he knew she meant it.
And just from those few words, he knew everything was going to be all right.
‘I love you too… Kagome’.
