The Future Through The Past

Chapter Seven

Takara leaned her head down on the wolf's back. Her thoughts were in turmoil, how had things turned out like this? Not only did Inuyasha demanded on going back with her but the others as well. Not that she minded Kora going back with her, she liked the girl. But she didn't understand why Sesshoumaru and Kouga had insisted as well. They weren't even sure if the well would let anyone besides her back through. They'd been traveling for over a day and Takara had needed to rest. Of course the minute she had asked for a break Inuyasha had whined.

She felt elated when Kora's father had volunteered to carry her on his back. She'd climbed on his back without question, she fell asleep almost immediately. Now they were hours from the well and he still carried her. She could have ran again but he didn't bother putting her down. Hell she would take the free ride. Her thougts went back to her mother. Would she come back with Inuyasha and the others? School would be waiting for her. Should she still even bother with college? Her life had suddenly become very confusing. Would she be allowed to come back if her mother did? Could Inuyasha even help her wake up? Had Kagome woken up while Takara was away? They'd know in a few hours.

She sighed into the wolf's back, her brain was starting to overload big time. His hair began to tickle her check, she reached up and moved the ponytail to the side. Her hand brushed over his neck accidently, she heard his sudden intake of breath. "Sorry, I didn't scratch you did I?"

He didn't answer, he ignored her. She sighed to herself, he had manners like Inuyasha. She snuggled closer into his back, her anxiety was building again. When Kora had spoken of her father, Takara had imagined an older male. None of the three men looked a day over twenty-one. She thought Kouga was actually kind of hot to be someone's father.

She was sure her friends had been calling wanting to know why'd she had missed a whole week of classes. Classes had only started three weeks ago, she wasn't starting out her freshman year good. She'd left on a Thursday, it was now the next friday. A week of hell as far as she was concerned. Tomorrow night was the first game of the year, how was she suppose to go with a house full of youkai to tend to? Maybe Souta would be able to handle them for a few hours. She was also suppose to go to practice tomorrow morning. She'd missed it all this week.

The well came into view some time later. They all stopped beside it and Takara climbed off Kouga's back. Her legs felt like jelly and she'd swear he'd left a permanent imprint on her thighs. A few rules needed to be set before she let them through. She turned to them all. "Now before we go through there's a few things I need to tell you four. I'm sure stupid there already knows." She ignored the glare, "First, if you go through things are different. It looks and smells different. There's technology, so don't go smashing shit because you don't know what it is. The first time you punch or kick my television you are getting shot. If you want to know what something is ask. Don't attack anyone or anything. No running off either, youkai isn't something you see everyday. You are likely to get attacked on sight. Now swear to me that you will all stay at the shrine unless you are with one of my family members."

They all nodded and Inuyasha simply crossed his arms being impatient. Kouga and Kora grabbed her arms while Sesshoumaru merely placed a hand on her shoulder. Inuyasha stayed away, which suited her fine. "One, two, three," The four jumped. Inuyasha was waiting for them to smack the bottom. He stared down with wide eyes when he saw the empty well. He jumped after them.


Takara felt the magic surround her, she looked to see that they all were with her. Suddenly her feet hit the bottom and she looked up to see the roof. Without asking Kouga picked her up and jumped out the well. She climbed out his arms when she heard yelling in the yard.

She opened the door to see Gran and Souta yelling at each other in the yard. They turned when the door banged open. Souta saw her and ran over. "Takara," He ran and quickly pulled her into a tight hug. "What the hell were you thinking? I should spank you girl."

"I'm fine, look." She turned her head. The other four were walking out. "I found him."

Souta released his niece, "Inuyasha? Is that really you?"

"Who the hell are you?"

"Watch your mouth young man." Gran came over to inspect her grandchild. "Are you okay. I've been so worried."

Inuyasha looked at the young man walking towards him. Then he realized who it was, "I see you've grown since the last time I saw you." A fist slammed into the hanyou's lip knocking his head back. "Why you little..."

"Sit." THUD!!! Takara looked over at her company then to Gran. "Has there been any change?"

"No, I'm afraid not. I'm afraid visiting hours are over too. You will have to wait until tomorrow to see her. That means you too Inuyasha, you will stay here tonight until the morning. Then I will take you to see her if you wish."

"Fine."

"Let me introduce you to everyone Gran." Takara did the introductions the best she could.


The four were all sitting in the living room talking to Souta while Gran made dinner. Takara had immediately ran up the stairs after everyone was settled in to take a quick shower. Sesshoumaru sat back on the couch looking around, he was curious about the things he saw around him. The girl had been right, things were different. Inuyasha sat pouting on the floor glaring at everyone. Kouga sat next to Sesshoumaru, he had other things on his mind.

Takara came down in clean clothes feeling human for the first time in a week. She was towel drying her hair when the loud ringing sound penetrated throught out the living room. Sesshoumaru jerked his head around while everyone else jumped. Souta reached over and grabbed the cell phone off the coffee table.

"Hello. No need she's here." He looked up at his niece walking into the living room. He threw the device at her, "Here I'm tired of answering that damn thing."

She caught it in her hands. "No one told you to, could have let them leave a message."

"We tried that, but since we had no idea when you be showing back up we couldn't. Your friends have a habit of popping up when you don't answer. Couldn't let them pop up and have them see Inuyasha."

She put the phone to her ear. "Hello. Hey, great. She's a little bit better. Yeah I know I've missed all week sorry about that. Of course I'll be there. What time is practice in the morning? Could you have one of the guys pick me up? I'm going to let Gran use my car tomorrow. No not him please. Fine, see you in the morning." She closed the phone.

"Who were you talking to Takara? I didn't see anyone." Kora asked.

"It's called a phone, it's a device. I'll explain it later." The device rang in her hand once more. She looked down and saw the name that popped up. She tossed it back to Souta, "Tell him I fell into the well and broke my neck. I'm going to go help Gran."

Souta glared at her, "I'm not your answering service." He opened the phone. "Hey Akeno, yeah its Souta. Nah, she's here but she's in the shower. Really? As a matter of fact she did, she said she couldn't wait to see you again either. No, I don't think she'd mind if you stopped by real quick. Okay I'll let her know."

Takara came storming into the living room suprising everyone with her shrieks. "You jerk! No you didn't, I'm going to kill you. Give me that damn phone."

He started laughing, "Too late he's already gone. He's coming over to see you."

"OH that's nice. What about them? Have you forgotten that they are here?"

"Course not. They are inside, I figure you'll just have to go outside and spend some quality time alone with ole Akeno."

"I don't think so. The moment he rings that doorbell, I'm going to have Sesshoumaru tear his head off." The demon lord lifted his eyebrow but she continued. "Seems he's the only uncle I have that has some sense. Just remember payback is a bitch."

"Dinner's done." Gran came out smiling, ignoring her son and grandchild.
