Destiny For A Reason

Author's note: In the next few chapters everything will be explained. I'm sure there a few questions out there. Everything will be revealed in due time. Now on with the story, please read and review.

Chapter Six

Hours passed as the group continued west, they mainly kept to the road. Miroku and Shippo took the lead, while Sango and Kagome took up the middle discussing the pair's children and what Kagome had missed in the years she'd been gone. The two girls took up the rear listening to bits and pieces of what was being said in front of them. The journey so far had been peaceful, the friends were reforming their bond. It was obvious to the girls, they'd done the right thing making their mother come back. She was happier than she'd been in years. To be honest they'd never seen her this happy, a smile graced her face that was pure.

"So, sis, what do you think about Shippo?" Kimi elbowed her twin. "Kind of cute isn't he."

"He's not too bad. Kind of thin for my taste, I prefer a man with more muscle, you know. Not beefy or anything, just soft to the touch but steel underneath. Besides I don't think I want a demon, mom says they don't marry they mate. Whatever that means, but it doesn't sound too promising. There better be a carot diamond on my finger before I let some guy in my panties."

"Don't be a snob, Michiko. Money isn't everything, just look at mom for example. Dad was rich and it would seem mom was never trully happy with him. Instead she seems to be content here where theres no hotels, fancy clothes, or in-door plumbing for that matter. I still dread the fact that I'm going to have to wipe my ass with a leaf, should of brought some charmin. Guess it could have been worse, could of forgotten my tampons." Kimi heard a sound coming from behind them, like the beating of wings.

"Do you hear that?" Michiko stopped dead in her tracks. She looked at her mom and the others, they'd fallen behind considerably, barely within yelling distance. "Mom, something is coming."

Kagome and the others stopped, "Do you hear anything Shippo?"

He strained to listen and then he heard it. Wings, sounded like a million tiny wings all fluttering at the same time. "Look into the sky, whatever it is, its going to fly in." He flexed his claws, unlike last time the group had travelled together this time he was big enough to fight along side his friends.

Sango, withdrew her large boomer-rang ready to throw, and Miroku stepped in front of Kagome, who had an arrow notched. In the distance, the sky began to turn black. A huge black cloud began to make its way towards them, descending on them at an incredible speed.

"What is it?" Sango threw her weapon in the middle of the cloud but the swarm of insects parted allowing it to pass without harming any. They quickly regrouped and continued on their path straight towards the group. Kagome released her arrow with the same results. Everyone dived to the ground as the swarm flew directly overhead barely grazing their heads.

Miroku screamed in pain as one sunk his tiny teeth into his neck. He brought his hand up smashing the tiny creature in the process. "Careful, they have very sharp teeth whatever they are." He glanced down at the little creature laying dead in front of him. He gasped, it was a little person, not even two inches in height, the skin was a dark blue color, and black wings were attached to its back, much like a pixie. His inspection was cut short as the made another pass at the group. "Stay down."

All seemed lost and they were turning around to come again, when they heard a shout, "Kagome!" In a flash of bright light streaking across the sky the swarm was gone. Every stared up at the now empty sky, breathing a sigh of relief.

"Good thing I came when I did." Inuyasha swung tetsusaiga over his shoulder. The hanyou had been traveling towards Kaede when he'd finally caught her scent. No matter how many years passed he'd never forget it. Within yards of the group he'd seen the swarm hanging over head and his instincts had told him that his Kagome was once again in trouble. The group stood up, everyone wiping off their dusty clothes, except Kagome.

She stood facing him, her breath caught in her throat. He was here, he was finally within her reach. "Inuyasha."

"Heh, Kagome, you just got back and I'm already having to save your sorry ass, pathetic human." He was about to begin to lecture her when he felt something hot and solid slam into the side of his jaw. He felt his feet leave the ground and grunted when his back came in contact with a tree. "What the fuck!" He glanced up from his prone position to see a stange looking girl standing not far from his original spot. 'That bitch hit me.'

"Nobody talks to my momma that way." Michiko cracked her knuckles they were aching to try out the other side of his face. "Speak to her like that again and I'll teach you some manners Billy Banks style." The others just stood there gaping at the hanyou laying on his back. They didn't know what was more astonishing that she'd been too fast even for him to react or the large red welt now marring his jaw. In her anger, she'd obviously drew some purification powers and centered it into her fist.

"It's ok, dear, he's always like that." Kagome grabbed her daughter's shoulder and squeezed it lightly. Hoping to calm the situation down. She loved Inuyasha with all her heart but she loved her kids more.

"Wow, sis, that was really awesome did you see the way he hit that tree. Next time, you'll hold him down and I'll bring the rolled up newspaper." Kimi gave her sister a thumbs up.

Kagome watched him stand and sheathed his sword. Obviously she was going to have to make the first move, "Inuyasha, I've.." She threw herself in his arms. Tears rolled down her cheeks and sobs racked her tiny shoulders.

He wrapped his arms around her, pulling her close to him. Her scent filled his nose and he cherished every second of it. "Kagome, why did you leave? I've missed you." His fingers entwined in her hair, filling his hands with the softness. 'She's really back and this time I won't let her go,' he vowed to himself.

The romantic reunion was cut short, when a scream pierced the air. Kimi had still been standing a few feet away from the group and was now floating several feet off the ground. Little black wings could be seen attached to her shoulders and her backpack. She'd been standing there watching as her mom was reunited with her love when she felt something peirce her neck, a scream had escaped her throat moments before her world went black.

"Kimi," Kagome watched as her daughter began to take flight, from the looks of her, she wasn't awake and now was several feet above the ground. "Inuyasha, do something."

"Dammit," he ran to the girl resembling his Kagome and tried to strike at the pests now attached to the girl. His claws made contact with one and it fell to the ground dead. "I can't get the others without risking hitting her."

"Do something," this came from Michiko as she watched her sister being carried away as they were helpless to do anything without harming the one they were trying to save. She ran after the form of her sister, that was getting smaller by the second.

"Kagome, hop on, you three ride Kirara and try to catch up to her." Inuyasha felt Kagome climb on his back. He caught up with the girl that had just recently slugged him. "Get on, we are going to follow."

Michiko saw her mother attached and hanging onto one shoulder, she climbed on his other shoulder. "Fine, hurry."
