FireAndIce: Okay, listen up people, your reviews are great but I’ve gotten a few annoying ones I’m going to clear up. First off, I know Sesshomaru is blind, and have not forgotten. He can still look at InuYasha just not see him so deal with it. Secondly, I know my chapters may have a few screw ups but you can deal, I don’t always feel like reading over everything and fixing every stupid little mistake. Thank you to all those who have reviewed kindly and I hope you enjoy the chapter.

Chapter 8. Taking Away The Pain
Sesshomaru walked blindly back to the wood, sniffing out his hollow. He had left InuYasha with the others at the outskirts of the village. He knew Naraku wasn’t gone, only dormant for the time being. The half-demon was one to bide his time during a battle, focusing out weaknesses and Sesshomaru knew he had found his.
His blindness was causing him great turmoil not being able to see the enemy approach or recede. He knew his hearing was well enough for that and his cent had increased dramatically since the incident, but it was nothing compared to being able to see your opponent. Sure, he could hear them, but that was nothing. Hearing was only one of many senses he needed.
Slowly, he made his way back to the river, feeling around for a rock before sitting on the large boulder, dipping his warn feet into the cool spring water. He closed his pale eyes, a gentle sigh escaping passed his lips, mouth curved into a simple and elegant smile. He leaned back against the large rock, keeping his arms outstretched to hold up his weight.
‘I sense danger approaching,’ Sesshomaru told himself, eyes opening the slightest. ‘It is nothing my brother cannot handle on his own.’
Sesshomaru closed his eyes again, taking in a deep breath before standing on the large rock and jumping down onto the rocky surface below, water splashing around his bare feet. It walked carefully through the water, searching with his feet for any sort of dip that might occur in his walk. He stepped into the middle of the water and turned to the sound of the small waterfall set out to his right. He walked toward it, putting out a hand and searching for the cold water to splash against his hand.
A hand reached out and grabbed the youkai lords, pulling it to a soft cheek to stroke over and down, running a thumb along a soft bottom lip, a kiss adorning Sesshomaru’s trapped hand. He growled, trying to pull away but could not. The demon laughed low, pulling on Sesshomaru’s arm, bodies pressed together, long fangs bared dangerously. The demon only laughed, running a hand through Sesshomaru’s silky silver hair, lacing long fingers into the back of the silver hair and pulling the youkai lord close, lips brushing together in a ghost kiss.
“Release me,” Sesshomaru hissed.
The strong scent of honey and blood coated the creature, drowning out his own smell. Sesshomaru sniffed close to the demon’s chest, eyes staring upward blindly at the demon, acting as if he could see him perfectly. His eyes widened, knowing the scent well, having been in battles many times with the demon himself. Sesshomaru pulled his hand back, but the demon would not allow it, Pulling him in close again to grasp his neck, glaring at the demon lord.
“That’s not very nice, lord Sesshomaru.”
“I thought we had ridden of you,” Sesshomaru whispered.
“I do not flee so easily...”
Claws slashed together and a loud clang rang through the water. Water splashed and fell, the waterfall going silent briefly before roaring back to life. Birds scattered, and the loud hoof beats of many other creatures could be heard escaping from the fight. The sickening cracking of bone on rock stung the air and blood flowed snake-like down the stream. Skin breaking and the loud spurting of blood was sent whirling through the air, along with loud growls of anger and pain, hisses of rage and agony.
All was silent except for the sound of the loud waterfall splashing into the water below, sending up a long wave of mist. The birds returned to their trees, twittering loudly. The sound of crunching branches and cracking bark could be heard over the loud whirling of the waterfall as deer and elk returned to feeding, eyes searching silently around the surrounding area.
*~*~*
InuYasha laid back silently, watching the roof of Kaede’s hut, arms crossed behind his head to use as a pillow. His eyes had returned to their soft yellow glow, no longer dull and irregular. In Kagome’s words he was “glowing with beauty”, or something along that sort. He turned his head to the side, looking up at the clouding sky through the broken roof above, eyes crossed with worry. He didn’t know why, but he was afraid something was going to happen and the scent of a demon was beginning to drift slowly away.
“InuYasha...”
Looking up, InuYasha met black eyes, staring into the face of the monk, staff at hand, long purple robes flowing down his body, hand wrapped and his rosary beads holding back his hands wind tunnel. InuYasha closed his eyes, sniffing quietly.
“We were all wondering if you were going to come with us to get the jewel shard Kagome is detecting?” Miroku asked.
“Do I have a choice?” InuYasha asked, knowing the answer in the back of his mind.
“No, not really,” Miroku said with a lopsided smile.
“Thought so,” the hanyou grumbled.
Getting up, the hanyou stretched his tired and still aching muscles and slumped out of the hut behind Miroku, groaning when the light of the skies his hit is yellow eyes. He opened them a crack, looking out at Kagome and Sango, Shippo posted in Kagome’s arms and Kilala at Sango’s side at full size, long canines protruding from her large mouth.
“So where is this shard?” InuYasha asked, stretching again.
“It’s heading east,” Kagome answered, pointing a finger, “and it’s moving quickly.”
“Then lets get to it before it gets away,” Sango said, hoping on Kilala’s back.
“Right,” Miroku answered, mounting behind Sango.
InuYasha walked over to Kagome and knelt down, allowing the girl to climb onto his back. He stood and bounded away, Shippo crying out att he quick speed. The hanyou was quick, but ever since Sesshomaru had marked him, he had gotten much faster. He dove through the trees, Kilala soaring closely behind him.
“Is it any closer?” InuYasha asked over the loud ruch of wind.
“Yea, it’s getting closer. It feels like the shard stopped moving,” Kagome answered.
“Good,” was all InuYasha mumbled before...
WHAM...
“Kagome...”
“InuYasha... Shippo...”
Landing hard on his side, InuYasha rolled across the ground, hitting a tree, a branch slashing across his cheek, breaking the skin. He hissed from the pain, hitting a large boulder, his arm cracking as he was tossed over the rock, hitting a tree hard and landing at the base. He heard Kagome’s scream and a loud crash, bushes crackling and pieces of twig flying everywhere.
“Kagome are you alright?” Sango yelled from above.
“Shippo, InuYasha, where are you?” Miroku cried out.
‘What was that?’ InuYasha asked himself, groaning as he rolled to the side. ‘My body feels like it’s been sent to hell and back.’
Kilala landed swiftly onto the ground, letting Sango and Miroku down. Miroku ran over to InuYasha, Sango heading off to Kagome and Shippo, dropping down onto her knees beside the bushes, looking down at the dazed and bruised girl and the dizzy kite. Sighing, she helped Kagome up slowly holding her head where a large bruise was forming.
Miroku dropped down beside InuYasha, pulling the hanyou up slowly. His eyes glazed with worry, large cuts and gashes covering most of InuYasha’s body. Large gauges and blanches bit into his skin, sticking out from his body. His arm was twisted oddly, the bone probably broken from the fall.
“You are badly injured, InuYasha, you should not move,” Miroku scolded, helping the hanyou to sit up. “Stay here.”
“Did you see who attacked us?” InuYasha growled out.
“No, it just happened,” Miroku said with a shake of his head.
“Damn,” InuYasha whispered.
“What are you doing?” Miroku asked, watching as he hanyou stood with the trees help, growling low.
“I smell Naraku,” InuYasha hissed.
Miroku silenced himself, standing to look around the dark forest they were in. He narrowed his eyes, staring into the dark trees. He couldn’t sense and thing and it was bothering him. If InuYasha could smell the demon then surely he would be able to feel the evil vibrations Naraku let out.
“Where do you smell him from?” Miroku asked quietly.
“Everywhere and that’s what’s worrying me,” InuYasha mumbled, standing up fully.
“He can’t be everywhere,” Miroku grumbled.
“Miroku, how is, InuYasha?” Sango asked, pulling along a bruised Kagome.
“Silence, Naraku is in out presence,” Miroku hissed, glaring at the demon slayer.
Sango stopped, letting go of Kagome and walking up beside Miroku, pulling out her boomerang and holding it out in front of her. Kilala stepped beside her, growling at the trees, scanning the area. The wood were silent, very silent and it was worrying them. Naraku never hid this much, especially when InuYasha or Kagome were around. He attacked whenever the shards of the Shikon No Tama were present and right now was a pretty good time, but still, he did not.
“Where is he?” Sango whispered.
“That’s just the thing, we don’t know,” Miroku said. “InuYasha says it smells like he’s everywhere.”
“How can that be?” Kagome asked weakly.
“He’s also bleeding, and badly,” InuYasha whispered. “Something attacked him and got him good.”
“Maybe that’s why he’s not attacking?” Sango said, turning to the monk and hanyou.
“No, even when Naraku is weak, he would still attack,” Miroku said. “It’s odd, I can’t sense him but Kilala and InuYasha seem to be able to sense him around us.”
“Do you think it could be a demon disguising their scent as his?” Kagome asked weakly.
“If they were to do that they would be stupid,” InuYasha growled, cracking his fingers.
“Very clever, little girl... but, unfortunately, you are wrong...”
Everyone took a step back, the voice coming from everywhere around them. Sango placed her back to Miroku’s, watching the trees very carefully. The voice just seemed to float from every corner around them, as if Naraku was more than everywhere, he was suffocating them. His silk of a voice drifted over their bodies and disappeared with a soft laugh.
“Where are you, Naraku?” InuYasha growled dangerously. “Come out and face me, or are you scared?”
“Don’t be foolish, InuYasha, but, I do think I will allow someone you might recognize very well to meet you,” Naraku said, his voice like thick acid. “Let’s see if your able to draw your weapon when you see who I have at my side.”
InuYasha growled, placing his hand on Tetseiga, ready for anything Naraku threw at him. A silver hair wisped from in front of them, blank yellow eyes glowing at them dangerously. Everyone gasped, watching as Sesshomaru stepped from the shadows, body badly bruised and blood seeping from his neck and head. Around his neck, digging in deep and letting of a horrid demon odor, was a collar.
“No...”
“Yes, InuYasha,” Naraku hissed venomously. “I have, in my possession, your dear brother and lover, do I not?”
“Naraku...”
“Calm yourself, InuYasha, I do not intend to kill him, merely for him to kill you and then keep him for myself...”
“I will die before I let that happen,” InuYasha roared.
“I intend for you ro be dead, do not worry,” Naraku sneered. “No, Sesshomaru, will you please...”
The demon lord reached at his belt, hand clasping around Toukijin and unsheathed it, holding the blade out for InuYasha to see. InuYasha could feel his hand shaking, hand on Tetsusaiga, fear creasing ever corner of his face. He swallowed, pulling the blade slowly from it’s sheath.
“Sesshomaru, it’s me, please, don’t fo this, your stronger than that,” InuYasha cried out, hand still on his weapon.
“Sorry, InuYasha, but he can’t hear you... only me,” Naraku laughed from his hiding. “Now, Sesshomaru, attack them.”
With the simple order, Sesshomaru lunged, blade crossed over his body, blind eyes piercing into InuYasha’s, an uncaring expression seared across his perfect features. InuYasha released his sword, head down, tears sliding down his cheeks. He glanced up, one eyes focusing as his brother was upon him, hand swinging downward.
“No, InuYasha...”
Sango’s boomerang came into contact with Sesshomaru’s attacking, stopping it before the demon lord could take the hanyou’s head. Miroku pulled InuYasha back, slamming him against the tree and running forward to help Sango. He slid his beads from his hand, the purple piece of material sliding away, covering his cursed hand.
“Sango, move,” Miroku ordered.
Opening his hand, wind exploded everywhere, pulling on the trees and shrubs in the deep forest. Sesshomaru slammed his sword into the ground, bracing himself against the strong wind, growling angrily. He let the blade cut the earth, sliding forward, eyes glittering with malice as Naraku laughed heatedly in the background.
Sesshomaru hissed dangerously, jumping into the air above the monk and brining his sword down across Miroku’s arm, cutting deep into the skin. Crying out in pain, Miroku closed up his wind tunnel, holding his bleeding arm, one eye closed as pain racked through his body. Sango moved to his side, kneeling down, holding onto the wound.
“Please, Sesshomaru, stop this,” InuYasha pleaded.
“He can’t hear you InuYasha,” Naraku hummed. “He belongs to me now.”
“NO...”
InuYasha flung himself at Sesshomaru, grabbing onto to the demon lords waist and hauling him down, getting a dangerous growl from the lord. InuYasha squeezed onto his brother tightly, holding him down, his head pressed into the soft chest, whispering softly, heart pounding as he heard and felt his brother thrashing and growling at him.
“Please...come back... don’t do this... I love you... please.. He can’t control you, your too strong for this... come back to me... please...”
Roaring loudly, Sesshomaru knocked InuYasha from his body, standing quickly to glare at the hanyou, sniffing him out with his nose. He sneered angrily, holding his sword up, ready for another strike. InuYasha shook furiously. His body felt of jell and he couldn’t move. He could only speak one more thing.
“Take away my pain...”
"WHAT ARE YOU DOING..."
Blood splattered the ground, a long pale arm flying from the trees, thick crimson splashing across the trees and forest floor. Breaking wood splintered the air, and a falling tree echoed harshly in the stillness. No one knew exactly what happened, but it had. Naraku’s scent was gone, and InuYasha stand still, head turned to the sky, tears trickling from his silent face. Sesshomaru lay on the ground, neck bleeding badly, unconscious, Tenseiga lying beside him Naraku’s arm connected to the healing sword.
Slowly, InuYasha crawled toward his brother, pulling the taller demon into his arms and placing his head on the soft silver hair. A hand touched his face and he looked down, peering into pale eyes, a weak smile on Sesshomaru’s unblemished face. Smling back, InuYasha leaned down, lips meeting, not caring if the others were their to see. It was best they were. No more hiding. No more pain. No more deceit.
“Thank you...”
Smiling at his brothers uncharacteristic words, InuYasha leaned back down for another kiss, Sesshomaru’s hand sliding down to his neck, rubbing gently across the soft mark that was their, his nails grazing the broken flesh. It was in times like this, that all would hope time would stop, and happiness would continue, but Naraku lived, and he would be forever the reason of destruction and loss of happiness.

Note: No people this is not the last chapter, I just wanted to write something that might help with the next chapter, which I don;t know when it will be out because I need to study for finals and trust me, their killer. The next chapter might be up in three days or so depending on how much I study and when ideas start popping. Read and review.

Note: No people this is not the last chapter, I just wanted to write something that might help with the next chapter, which I don;t know when it will be out because I need to study for finals and trust me, their killer. The next chapter might be up in three days or so depending on how much I study and when ideas start popping. Read and review.
