Distant Love
xx Chapter 9 xx Distant Love xx Boulavard of Broken Dreams xx
InuYasha sat still the whole time, not even a sound escaped his lips as he forced himself through another day of school. He ignored the comments and rushed rumors about him dumping Kikyou. He let the students think what they wanted, and all he thought about was her. He had already felt his heart break in a thousand peices, and listening to them now as they fell to the floor.
"I walk alone now... I walk alone..."
That was what he let escape his mouth. And then only the few poeple around him noticed, but then he didn't say anything the rest of the school day.

Getting home, he sank down into the couch in his basement, waiting for Sesshoumaru to bark out his orders of chords or lyrics. InuYasha just sat and listened to the hurried demands of Sesshoumaru, and rolled his eyes with each new change to the rules.
He ignored his brother's droning tone and swept past him, picking up a guitar and fingered the fret board, searching for the right notes.
"InuYasha...? You can play the..." Sesshoumaru's words were halted by the chords of InuYashas guitar.
It was slow and soft, with a mixture of sorrow and regrets. Why had he let her go? He would turn 18 in a matter of weeks, and then they would be able to live together. And get married.
"I walk a lonely road,
The only one that I have ever known,
Don't know where it goes,
But it's home to me and I walk alone,
I walk this empty street,
On the Boulevard of broken dreams,
Where the city sleeps,
And I'm the only one and I walk alone,
I walk alone, I walk alone
I walk alone, I walk a...
My shadows the only one that walks beside me
My shallow hearts the only thing that's beating
Sometimes I wish someone out there will find me
Till then I walk alone...
Ah-Ah Ah-Ah Ah-Ah Ahhh-Ah
Ah-Ah Ah-Ah Ah-Ah
I'm walking down the line,
That divides me somewhere in my mind,
On the border line of the edge,
And where I walk alone,
Read between the lines ,
What's fucked up and everythings all right,
Check my vital signs to know I'm still alive,
And I walk alone,
I walk alone, I walk alone,
I walk alone, I walk a...
My shadows the only one that walks beside me
My shallow hearts the only thing that's beating
Sometimes I wish someone out there will find me
Till then I walk alone
Ah-Ah Ah-Ah Ah-Ah Ahhh-Ah
Ah-Ah Ah-Ah I walk alone, I walk a...
I walk this empty street
On the Boulevard of broken dreams
Where the city sleeps
And I'm the only one and I walk a..
My shadows the only one that walks beside me
My shallow hearts the only thing that's beating
Sometimes I wish someone out there will find me
Till then I walk alone!"
InuYasha kept the rythym going, kept letting the anthem play. Keeping his heart's desire locked in was becoming painful and he couldn't deal with it any longer. He played a hard solo, and that showed his anger, he was angry, not just sad. He had let her go, he had let her leave, and it was his fault that he was now alone.
"I WALK ALONE!" he yelled out.
By then Sesshoumaru had joined him in song, little did InuYasha know that Sesshoumaru had recorded the whole thing, and was in the process of editing. And when it was finished, Sesshoumaru would mail their CD to Kikyou.
InuYasha still moped, always thinking of her. He didn't eat very much, only drank Kikyous favorite flavor of tea. Only did the things she liked to do, talked like her, that is when he talked at all. He had become nearly mute. And it was all because of her.

Kikyou was early woken, ready to try out a new life. She had tried to sever the ties to her old life, tried to cut the line between her and Osaka. And while she had forgotten the town, she had not forgotton InuYasha. No, he would always be with her. Always.
It was a cool day outside, and finally it was becoming cold. The summer days had seemed so long, and now it was coming to an end. It was almost like that now InuYasha was gone, that Kikyous life had no warmth. And that is what her thoughts travelled to.
"I have no life without him." she sighed, walking quickly to school so as to get warmer.
She burst in slowly, nearly knocking over a few students behind the door. She dressed as usual, dark and deep. Almost scary, empty and sad. She didn't say much and let her sorrow and regret take over. She sat down in her class in her usual spot, but then edged over one seat to where InuYasha normally sat back home.
"InuYasha..." she sighed.
After everyone was seated and friends talked amongst each other, over came a boy and sat beside Kikyou. She admired his courageous stance. He carried himself well, tall, and proud. He had long black hair and pointed youkai ears. His outfit was complementing, a deep blue pair of jeans and a brown t-shirt. His shirt had a bright gray screening of a howling wolf on it and Kikyou smiled inside, she knew then he was a wolf youkai.
He looked down at her, and then held out his hand. Before he sat down he moved his chair towards her desk.
"Katsuki Kouga. And you are?"
Kikyou at first didn't say anything, she just stared towards him. She refused his handshake, and just nodded his appearance. She looked away from him and took a breath.
"Kanawa Kikyou. I'm from Osaka." she pouted.
"So you're new? Would you mind if I showed you around?" he smiled, eager to get closer.
"If you have to." she sighed.
"Alright, starting now. First it's history, then english, then lunch, then social, then study hall. For today anyways. So you come from Osaka huh? Nice place. Why the move?"
Kikyou was becoming annoyed, Katsuki Kouga was becoming very nosey, "My mom got a job, so we had to move, now could you leave me alone?" she said in a more deep voice.
"But I thought you..." started Kouga.
"Leave me the fuck alone!" she said quite loudly.
Kouga turned back to his desk and didn't say a word till the end of class.

Kikyou lay on her bed at home, how did she get here? Why was she allowing this, why? She was crying at the fact that she had even let Kouga near her. Now she was being kissed, not forced, but it was that she had so many confusing emotions. She was crying, not even feeling the same way, and only wishing that Kouga were InuYasha. But he wasn't and Kikyou felt so horrible when Kouga fingered the edge of her shirt.
Kikyou stopped him, and pushed him away. "Kouga no. I can't, I don't love you. I..."
"Kikyou, you... had a koibito back in Osaka... didn't you?" he sighed. Realizing that he had hurt her.
"Yeah, his name was InuYasha. When I had to move I was so sad, and I still feel the same. It's been nearly a week since I last saw him, and I just feel so fucking bad... Why did I leave? I could have lived with him."
Kouga was nearly about to say something, when Miroku came in. He still stayed pretty silent, still sad that he had to leave the only woman who ever oved him. But he knew Kikyou felt the same way.
"Special delivery, for Kikyou Kanawa..." he sighed, reading the address.
Kikyou held the package tightly in her fingers, she ran a finger over the from adress. "It's... from... InuYasha..." she sighed. She slowly opened the small brown letter. Only wishing that InuYasha would jump out and kiss her.
She pulled out a letter and a CD. She looked on the cover of the CD. It featured heself, InuYasha and Sesshoumaru, all in the peak of their solo, leaning into the mirophones. On the back she noticed that Sesshoumaru had put a picture of herself and InuYasha on the back, in a tight embrace.
She read the track titles, one of them "Dame". But one had a special note on it. "Dedicated to my koibito Kikyou." it said in white letters. She gently put the CD in the player and set it loudly playing. She read the letter while the music played. She was instantly enchanted by the sad anthem. And it shot through her a shock of pain, she had really lost him.
"Kikyou, enclosed is our band's demo. Listen carefully. All the tracks are our originals, and one is by Inu. It's called, 'Boulevard of Broken Dreams'. He wrote it for you Kikyou. Please, find a way back to him. He hasn't said a word, only sang this song. He hasn't eaten, only drinks your favorite tea. He hasn't slept and only thinks of you."
Kikyou could barely recognize Sesshoumaru's signature, from the splashes of wetness that covered them. He had been crying.
She blared the song the InuYasha wrote. It was the only thing he had said since she left. And she let it go louder, until it hurt her ears to listen. Kouga listened too. Everyone listened, all the people nearby her building could hear it. And they all stopped to listen.
Kikyou sat right beside the window, watching all the citizens walk by. And she began to understand. She was alone now. She walked alone.
"My shadows the only one that walks beside me
My shallow hearts the only thing that's beating
Sometimes I wish someone out there will find me
Till then I walk alone..."
She understood every word. And she sang it with him. She grabbed the phone from her bedside table. She dialed InuYasha and waited, for a voice.
"Moshi moshi. InuTaishou desu."
"Oh, Taishou-sama. It's Kikyou. Please put Inu on."
"One minute." she heard a clatter, and some shuffling, and then it was him.
"Moshi moshi..." he droned, in a monotonus voice. A long pause awaited him on the other side, but he could hear his song in the background.
"Inu... Yasha..."
"Kikyou! Kikyou! I've missed you so much!"
"Inu... Yasha... you really mean it don't you? You feel empty... broken..." was all she coudl say.
"Kikyou... you... have no idea... how much this hurts..."
"No Inu... you're wrong... I do know... because it hurts me just as bad."
"I really love you Kikyou. Why can't you come home?"
"Home... my home... is with you..." she sighed, only wishing it were possible.
"Kikyou, I'll be 18 soon. Then I can move to Tokyo. We can live together... and get married."
"Inu... Yasha... I can't wait that long..." Kikyou sighed and dropped the phone. Kouga watched her run out the door to her room.
"Kikyou! Where are you going?!"
She didn't stop, she hugged her mother quickly. "I love you mom, but I have to go home..."
"--Kikyou!" her mother couldn't stop her. Kikyou ran so fast out the door that no one had seen her. She could sense her mother in a panic. 'Don't worry mom. It's for the best. I'd rather leave now, then stay here and slowly be torn apart by regret.'
Kikyou jumped onto the subway car, and twitched her foot imaptiently.

"Kikyou! Kikyou where'd you go! Are you there?! Are you okay? Kikyou!"
InuYasha called franticly into the phone, he sank to his knees and cried. Thinking the worst, she could be dead, she could have been stolen. The worst of thoughts ran through his mind and he became overwhelmed. He fell down to the hard wood floor, letting his body relax as he became unconsious.

Kikyou came running up to his house, she didn't knock, she didn't stop to let anything get in her way. She came into the Takizawa house and found InuYasha on the floor. Her heart instantly stopped. Her breath being stolen by fear. The only thing she could breathe out was, "Inu..."
The medics rushed past her, Sesshoumaru had already called them, he notcied that Kikyou was standing there, "Kikyou!" he called, and saw as Kikyou sank down on the floor crying. He went over quickly and held her.
"It's okay Kikyou, he'll be okay..."
"Sessh... ahh..." she cried, letting out all of her tears. How in hell could she have held it in so long. She followed InuYasha while the medics carried him out of the house on a white strecher. Kiykou held his hand tightly, and followed him into the ambulance. "Don't leave me InuYasha. Koibito's itsumo..."
xxxxxxxxxx
A day had passed, Kikyou had lay by InuYasha's side all night, not sleeping. She listened to the doctor and nurse confer and then the doctor walked over to her.
"Miss Kanawa... you know Mr. Takizawa?"
"Hai, he is my koibito."
"And do you know what happened?"
"No, I don't please, tell me..."
"He has become overwhelmed. His feelings were trapping him, he hasn't slept, or eaten. His body has sustained much internal damage, and he has become depressed."
The doctor showed Kikyou InuYasha's arm. It was covered in deep red scars, some of the cuts still bled.
"Inu..." she cried, feeling more tears warm her face.
"He'll be alright in afew days, call me if he wakes up."
Kikyou held his arm tightly, he held his hand to her face. She cried hard, 'Why InuYasha! Why did it have to be like this? Why did it go so wrong? How... how can we love each other this much?"
"Ki-Kikyou..." he squeaked.
"InuYasha! I think he's awake!"
"-kyou..." he sighed, a small smile coming to his face. "Ai... shi-teru." came his sad broken sentance.
"I love you too InuYasha, koibito's itsumo."
InuYasha found strength in her sentance, and his desire to be with her had healed him. He sat up quickly making the tubes and wires to his body move and fall. He tore them from his arms, and took the cloth from his head.
He lunged at her and they both knelt on the cold tile floor. It seemed as though a pool of tears had formed beneath them, as they embraced tightly. InuYasha pulled away from her and then kissed her deeply. So passionate, so deep, and so far down in love they had fallen. They wouldn't ever see the light of freedom, and they were trapped by their emotions. But it was a good place to be, as long as they had each other.
xxxxxxxxxx
And so they stayed, together forever. The day InuYasha turned 18 he and Kikyou bought an apartment down the street from their old houses. Sesshoumaru had gone to the United States to form his new company. He had found a woman to love and she rivaled the abilities of Kikyou. Well, only in Sesshoumaru's heart.
Miroku and Sango found each other again, and have been happy ever since. The rest of Kikyou and InuYasha's family is doing fine, and they are all happy.
Kouga gave up on trying to get Kikyou to be his koibito, he never really understood how deeply Kikyou and InuYasha loved each other. But it wouldn't be long until he knew.
InuYasha and Kikyou lived long and wonderful lives, the had four children, and so many more grandchildren. They lived their lives long and happy until they decided to end their happy time together. But they wouldn't be forced apart. They would be together in heavan, and in the next million lives to come.
And so this ends our story of love and sorrow. And just remeber...
