Chapter 8: Yasha Vs. Inuyasha
Two more people joined the group a few weeks after Shippo. One was a perverted monk named Miroku and the other was a demon exterminator named Sango. They found out who was responsible for the mix-up between Inuyasha and Kikyo: a demon named Naraku. Inuyasha was struggling within himself if he wanted to stick with Kagome or leave her and be with Kikyo, who was now reborn slightly into a soul collector.
Yasha, who recently had a birthday, was now four years old and struggling within herself as well. With the pressures of being a hanyou and being a child who's opinion used to matter suddenly caught up with her. She didn't know which way to turn and it caused her attitude to change into one of rebellion. She was worried that one day things would lead to her becoming an enemy, but she knew where her loyalites stood and that was with her father and friends.
One afternoon, Yasha sat on the porch of Kaede's hut playing with a few toys she kept there when Inuyasha and Kagome stormed outside arguing so that the whole village could hear them. To make matters worse, they had no idea Yasha was sitting in between them while they fought. Yasha looked from one to the other frowning when she couldn't take it anymore. She covered her puppy ears and shouted, "WHY DON'T YOU BOTH SHUT THE HELL UP?!" That caught their attention then. "Yasha, never use that language around me again!" Inuyasha shouted angrily. "You're too young for that!" "Well, how else was I supposed to let you two know that my ears are killing me with all the yelling you two loudmouths are doing?" she snapped.
"I think we need to talk," he said grabbing her arm and leading her off. Kagome gulped suddenly and Shippo jumped in her arms. "When he tells her that, one of them winds up hurt and it's usually her," she said seriously. Inuyasha returned alone causing the two to worry where Yasha was. "Where is she?" she asked. "Leave her alone right now," he sighed. "She's pissed off and wants to be alone." Meanwhile, Yasha sat at the lake punching the ground every five minutes in anger. "I wish he'd get his head on straight!" she growled angrily when she noticed someone standing next to her. She turned and saw her uncle Sesshomaru with Jaken, his loudmouth assistant.
"Sounds like you're beginning to understand your father's true nature," he said seriously. She narrowed her eyes snorting. "What would you know about it?" she asked sharply. "You always want to kill him." "Unless I get someone who feels the same to do it for me," he said. "You know I seek the Tetsusaiga and besides him, you can weild it as well." "What a surprise," she grumbled as she stood up and began to walk away when her staff began glowing and she felt frozen to the ground. "Do not back away from me, Yasha," he commanded as she turned around to face him. "That staff helps me as well as you." She studied him frowning. "Bring me the Tetsusaiga tonight here," he said seriously. "You can handle that, right?" She nodded. "Of course," she said. "I'llwaitwaiting," he said and disappeared. In her trance like state, Yasha made her way home.
Late that night, Yasha sat up and shape shifted into Kagome since she was gone home and looked at her sleeping father. She reached out and her fingers grasped the handle of the mighty sword and slowly pulled it from his grasp without his knowledge. She then turned invisible and ran off outside. Sesshomaru was waiting as he said he would and she returned to her normal form and looked at him. "Now that you have the sword, it's time to test it," he said seriously as he looked at his niece. "Reveal the demon inside you, Yasha. Destroy Inuyasha."
"Yes, Master Sesshomaru," she said bowing. "Tomorrow morning, the battle shall begin." The next morning, two things were strange. Yasha was missing and so was the Tetsusaiga. Inuyasha followed her scent to a clearing to find no one there. "What in the hell?" he asked himself when Yasha appeared with the Tetsusaiga around her waist. "I've been waiting for you, Inuyasha," she said still in her trance. "Now we shall see how strong you truly are. You must fight me in order to gain your sword back." Her eyes began to glow bright red and he noticed her staff was missing. "Y-Yasha?" he whispered as she released the Tetsusaiga and it obeyed her suddenly.
"It's funny how children can turn on you when you least expect it," a voice said behind her as Sesshomaru came into view. "You bastard!" Inuyasha growled. "Release your grip on her now!" "That's up to her," Sesshomaru said seriously. "I believe she might think differently." He rested her staff against a tree smiling. "Destroy him!" he shouted and the battle began. Yasha used the sword like an expert and Inuyasha struggled to dodge every blow. "Inuyasha!" Miroku shouted as he and Sango ran to the battle. "Yasha's possessed by Sesshomaru!" Inuyasha grunted. "We have to break her of the spell!" "How?" Sango asked. "Figure out something!" he pleaded as he fought off his child.
"Yasha, stop this!" he begged. "Your pleas do not affect me!" she grunted as she fought harder. Miroku studied Yasha's staff and nodded. "Inuyasha, get to her staff and touch her with it!" he shouted. "The spell will break then!" Yasha was in no shape to let him get near it. Suddenly, Sango used her boome and and Tetsusaiga flew from Yasha's hands and on the ground. The hanyou snarled then and turned invisible. Inuyasha gasped as he tried to find her scent when she reappeared in the air and sliced through his chest with her claws. He used his own to stun her as much as possible, but her injuries started to get the better of her. He grabbed the staff and threw it in front of her causing electricity to pulse through it and it struck her. She screamed and hit the ground hard.
"Yasha!" Miroku shouted running to her and lifted her in his arms. "Get her out of here!" Inuyasha shouted as he ran after his brother. Sango followed on Kilala, her pet demon cat, and Miroku grabbed Yasha's staff running after them. Yasha regained her senses during the battle between her father and uncle. Feeling a sense of guilt flow through her veins, she grabbed her staff and ran in the middle of the battle. "You tried to turn me against him, you filth," she panted angrily. "Now you'll pay!" She twirled her staff and stabbed it in the ground. "FLAME OF THE SOUL!" she shouted releasing her ultimate power on Sesshomaru. Sesshomaru cried out in pain, but Yasha felt like the blast never hit him. When the smoke cleared, he was gone. She grabbed her staff and swallowed hard looking aro "I "Is he dead?" she asked. "He's gone, but alive," Miroku said seriously causing her to fall to her knees and slam the ground with her fists as angry tears slid down her cheeks. "Am I really a half demon or am I a full demon like he is?" she whispered as her tears hit her hands. "I felt the anger go through my veins and I didn't care who died, just so my vengance was served."
Inuyasha limped to her and knelt down. "Yasha," he whispered. She looked up at him and shook her head. "I don't deserve to be your daughter anymore," she whispered. "You should kill me now and get it over with." He shook his head and gathered her in his arms. "My pain isn't yours," he whispered. "You don't deserve to die, baby. I love you too much to let you go." "I almost killed you!" she protested. "No," he said. "Sesshomaru almost killed me. He just used you as a decoy to get to me." She buried her head in his chest and cried hare ste stroked her hair and let her get all the hurt out of her body not stopping her tears. Miroku and Sango decided to leave them alone and headed back for the village. "Just let it out, baby," Inuyasha whispered rocking his firstborn in his arms. "Just let it out."
